Wonderful to see mention of this lovely old basement dump. Me and my friend Sue used to bunk off from our posh school in South Croydon in 1960 or thereabouts when we must have been 15. In the afternoons, the beautiful, sexy Italian waiters from The Savoy Hotel were off duty until the evening and, as you say, Pepsi Cola and a good juke box, some sweaty, shadowy jiving and, best of all, what would now be called snogging but then was known as heavy petting were never-to-be-bettered experiences in teen love. We said goodbye at 5ish and got the train home from Victoria. Yearning. Only the lonely ...

Just want to say that, like Julian, i think Chris still is the governor and that i still listen to his stuff and Savoy Brown stuff regularly...it would be great to have a live Chris Youlden night and turn up the volume to make sure we can hear those rich tones and subtleties (sometimes its not too clear at The Inn)! Sorry youre not well Chris- speedy recovery wishes to you....

Sorry to hear that Chris isn't well, hope he's back singing again very soon. I've always considered him to be one of the best vocalists I've ever heard and as Bob's earlier post mentions, his contribution to Savoy Brown's output (both singing and songwriting) remains amongst my favourite music to this day.

Brian Matthew played "Train to Nowhere" on his
"Sounds of the 60's" radio show on Saturday morning and it still sounds as haunting now some 40 odd years after I first heard it. Wonderful song, wonderful voice.

Great to see Chris and Shakey back in action. I will be there! Hope to hear some tough blues and how about a few of Chris' wonderful solo efforts? "Wake up Neighbour" anyone? "Cryin' in the Road"?
You know you want to!

Wanted to let Chris Youlden know that after all these years his music is still powerful and beloved. His incredible contributions to Savoy Brown as well as his solo efforts, always bring me joy and heartbreak. Chris, you are a great artist. Thank you for all the wonderful music.

Hello Shakey,

I was wondering if there have plans for you and Chris to come to the USA for a tour? Also is there anything in the works for an official video of the two of you in concert? Speaking for myself and many of your fans in Chicago we need a Shakey and Chris fix.

All the best
