My brother John Peachey was the disc-jockey at the time of the fire in Montreaux casino. Not only did Deep Purple loose all their equipment, but John lost all his best records. Many of which were irreplaceable, being one off demo discs. John shone his DJ’s spot light on the only un-locked door, and people, many high, followed the beam of light thinking this was part of the act, and lay on the grass outside going – ‘wow’ as the casino burnt!

Nat Turner was not defended by Thomas Gray. That is not accurate. Thomas Gray did interview Nat Turner and write “The Confessions of Nat Turner”, but William C. Parker is the lawyer who actually defended Nat Turner. There’s a Nat Turner movie in the works right now. It’s very gruesome and centers around the details of the 1831 slave revolt. It’s called Nat Turner Unchained.

Yeah I really enjoy using this timeline it helps me out alot I just hope that you add more so I can continue to use this great tool because I love reading in order so I can see how events are related and I only read collected editions too so this was the perfect tool there is nothing else like it so keep it up the good work this is amazing!

Gillian, i can do you one better. When I went on a leadership course because I had recently been promoted to the position of Team Leader we had one of these exercises split over two parts. In the first part i contributed equally, everyone was heard etc, but we weren’t getting anywhere, so later in the day when we went to complete the exercise I did the same as you to be sure that we would complete our objectives before the time was up. I was marked down enormously for lack of team-work. Huh? I’m the manager dude, you should consider it a provilege that I even let you guys contribute your ideas in the first place!

Oh god the “Team Building” exercise. I went for an interview at a company I’d known before, that has a 5-fold “values” set of which one is “Leadership”. And no-one wanted to step up and start the exercise, so I did. And no-one at all spoke up, and I had to ask people to contribute to the exercise, and …

Suffice to say, I didn’t get the job because “they weren’t sure I could work as a team member rather than a team leader, and they thought I steamrollered the exercise.”

*sigh*

Ow… I hear your pain.

There are multiple true answers to the “Why do you want to work for this company?” question. The most common one is “For the money”, but there are companies that I have (and would) work for for less money because of other benefits that aren’t financial in nature, even in the long term. (Long-term financial benefits are things like training and exposure to new technologies. You take the lower pay now to get the skills for higher pay later.)

I’ve gone to work for companies simply because it was a fun place to be, with good people doing interesting things. I’ve worked for companies because I liked the brand and wanted to be part of it. And I’ve worked for places where I just needed an income and would take whatever the hell came along.

More correctly, the question for which your answer is the only true one is “Why do you want to work?”.

Check this response to my not-working myki card inquiry. I can’t use the card for 3 days after I put $1.00 in a machine. We paid how much for this system?

We write in response to feedback we received, reference number xxxxxxx, regarding your online top up.

Upon investigation, we have identified that you requested a $xx.00 top up to your myki on the xx/xx/201x. We have also identified a reimbursement of $x.00 was requested onto your myki.

Please be advised that when you top up online or via the call centre, or a reimbursement is processed, an action is sent to every myki device to ensure that the request is loaded onto your myki wherever you next choose to touch on.

We confirm that the reimbursement is no longer being sent to devices.

To reactivate your reimbursement all you need to do is top up a minimum of $1.00 at a myki machine. The top up will trigger the reimbursement action to be resent to all devices, so after 24 to 48 hours, your reimbursement will be available upon next touch on. Once you have received your reimbursement onto your myki, your top up will be available the following day.
