Thank you. One of my geekier posts for sure. The law and how it relates to technology always has facinated me. Glad you liked it.

It amazes me just how many "I-Devices" there are out there. Although the number 350,000 seems large when looking at it, it really is a drop in the bucket in relation to the number of IPhones alone.

I am fairly new jumping in and buying one recently, I would suppose if I had not jailbroken my phone the novelty would have run off after the first couple weeks of owning it. I must be fickle though. Playing with Google Voice on a phone with Android on it has again shown me how Apple`s plan for segregating apps on the phones really limit the use of the phone. The may have the market share and a good platform, but phones like Android will start to eat it up. Will the IPhone be like the Mac and lose those who want more freedom of choice to platforms that are more open? Time will tell. Already I am thinking that I should have waited for Android.

Just read (and enjoyed) the story of your search for the poster of the surfing swami. Like you, I have had no luck locating it. Wonder if you ever found it and, if so, where. You can e-mail me at the above address. Thanks, ja

A friend asked me if I could find the link to the downgrade process (getting your IPhone from 3.1 back to 3.0.1) here is what I found :

For non-3GS IPhones:
http://www.redmondpie.com/downgrade-iphone-3.1-to-3.0.1/

For 3GS IPhone:
http://www.redmondpie.com/downgrade-iphone-3gs-from-iphone-firmware-3.1-to-3.0/

I have not tried this but there looks to be a bunch of happy customers. It also uses software from the IPhone Dev Team which I have been real happy with. If you need your phone "unlocked" which allows you to use the phone for Europe or other carriers, you probably don't want to perform this, at least for now... See the links for details.

Good luck!

The movement to OpenSim with the Meerkat viewer has been real smooth so far. Of course I can only bring over things that I am full creator on. Some of my earlier creations I would just copy existing prims from around me and torture them, so for things like my original little building I had to practically rebuild from scratch. I'm so happy I started going to "show and tells" to show some of my creations. You can only win if the whole of the creation shows you as the creator. This should make porting really complex creations like the piano to opensim much easier.

That would be terrific if you could host the discussion group. I'm sure it would make it much easier for participants from Second Life to participate then bringing them over to Osgrid. That would be wonderful!

On osgrid I have a whole sim (and more for so much cheaper). Dogen and I have sims, not just land at a fraction of what we have in SL. There are also no size or prim level restrictions which may take building to another level for me if I decide to do so. It is a wonderful alternative to not being able to relax in my own land at all. Stevie has already visited, although I only had two buildings up. You and Dani should visit sometime. Merrkat viewer is a little buggy, but it makes moving stuff over a breeze and "teleporting" is slick between environments.

See you soon, I should be in and out of Second Life for a while in the next week or so. Moving and making sure I got all the pieces I want. Hope to see you then.

Hugs!

Hi Dharma. I can't say I'm surprised you intend to vacate your SL land. Long weeks away from SL and paying real money for what amounts to unused server time, is not the most cost effective. However, as you know, Dani and I have land and we would be happy to host your pagoda and Discussion Group come October. Namaste.
