This project of yours was very unthoughtful to those it had to potential to effect, me being one of them. In high school I dreamed of coming here as a broadcasting major.
I think this was a very cool thing to do but also a cruel thing because if anybody that is planning on coming here read this, they probably would have dropped out now. But it is a cool thing because it give me the realization of what life would be like if Oswego wasnt here. I have been a student here for 7 years and I have struggled with my degree but I have come to respect many of the faculty and most them know me by name even the ones that I have never taken a class with. Tutition should be decreased by half for whose who have been here for longer than 6 years.

In reply to <a href="https://saveoswego.wordpress.com/solutions/#comment-88">sachman</a>.

The problem with that idea is that many students would get jipped out of what they paid for with their particular meal plan. I work at a dining hall on camus, and believe you me, students get pissed if we run out of food if it is on the menu. Frankly, I would too if I paid for something and didn't get what I wanted with a $1,500 meal plan.

Also, SUNY Oswego is a completely different entity than Auxiliary Services and has no control over portioning of the food.

OK, I know this is a bit late to comment on, but I wanted to say something about the TV's in the Campus Center. One of the main reasons for having them is to provide quick information about things going on around campus. It's meant more for advertisement than putting it on a station so people can watch tv shows. It also is supposed to be helping reduce the high flier distribution on campus, (though I've hardly seen a reduction). Between classes, the hallways are too loud and filled with traffic for people to stop and watch the news.

Oscar, there are some points you make that are difficult for this school to follow through with. Reducing the cost is just something that will make keeping this school afloat much more difficult. Prices are high because it's already hard enough to keep things going. It just makes more sense to focus on cutting what we REALLY don't need rather than making things "cheaper."

Posted in my article today I made a reference to "taxation without representation." Sure, we know it's not exactly the same thing, but it seems like more and more the government can make decision and people just blindly accept. Even the politicians blindly make decisions. "Hello! Patriot Act!?!?" In a way, the blame has to eventually be on the people. We are notorious for not acting until it's too late. This is how revolutions star in the first place, it's because people allowed things to get out of hand in the first place.

As a educational facility Oswego needs to know what matters, it;s students and employes they are what keeps the school pushing forward and onward into the future, without them it will be nothing. If the impending closing comes to a point of realization all those that depend on the offerings of SUNY Oswego will be left with nothing, and if that happens all those who put time effort and above all MONEY are left with nothing from a place they gave so much to.

A college is a place of education, friendship, life and life experiences you cannot just uproot all those that built themselves up here to a new place, it cannot work like that. SUNY Oswego leaders you have forgotten what is the true importance, you have lost your way. For shame SUNY Oswego.

There is no one answer to the funding problem of Higher Education. In order to really run the campuses correctly the school needs to carefully consider each purchase, such as whether or not we need 50 plasma tv's. However, if we are to really achieve change we have to have some tuition dollars going back into the system. While, it may not be able to fund all of it, it will alleviate some funding problems. Lastly, students must become aware of the issue. If students are going to continue to be blind to the process and the importance of what happens at this institution, they deserve what they get.
