A) If you’re on a router, you’re behind a firewall that automatically blocks any and all incoming traffic that wasn’t asked for.
B) If you never set the default password on your computer, and you put that computer on a network, you’re asking for it.

What you’re saying is equivalent to saying your house can be broken into if you leave your front door wide open and go on vacation.

if your laptop and home PC’s are on the same network, someone from other end can find out what is going on other PC’s, if they know what is administrator password for your home PC’s. But as far as i know it’s against law. so it’s depend on other side, but it’s not an easy task to do and not worth it.
