I have been looking for videos/resources with regards to x robot tags with no luck for people have made any videos about that (or seen any good resources a non-techy would understand).

I found this from google where they show parts of what I want to see: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/robots-meta-tag
So I want to see how I can noindex/nofollow none html pages, such this case with pdf files.

 Header set X-Robots-Tag "noindex, nofollow"

But with the example above, where do I place the directive in the htaccess file ??

But I also want to know how I can use these directives to nofollow/noindex towards the spammy "search urls in my GSC"

EX:
domain.com/search/online.vi***a.domain

Which is coming up heavily in my search console.

And I would want to show a directive to not crawl those (or noindex/nofollow them).
Also, in this case with regards to the spam medic search urls such as the one above.

Where does the directives go in the htaccess file ??

Thanks,

I am in the process I asking this exact question to facebook as I write to you. They take so long to find answers I'm losing the will to live waiting.

I have explained that I am being asked by members of my facebook group if they can pay me to pin their post to my group for 7 days.
Facebook have told me there is no set up for this.
I explained that fb have areas now to set up subscription groups were members pay to be part of the group, I asked maybe it is connected to this area somewhere except I don't want to charge the members to join the group only pay to pin posts.
The funny part.......fb support asked me to message them the link to this subscription page set up area.....the irony...hahaha

Message back off fb:
I do understand your concern Paul, but the only way to collect payment via Facebook it can be done via page. For existing group there is no way to connect existing group to page.
You may collect payment out of Facebook.
Can You provide me the link to the information about "Members pay to be part of the group" that you have read please?

I have provided the link.

"Thank you for the link, Paul. Please allow me 5-10 minute to check on this".

Let's wait for the verdict.....what a joke fb support are!
We have discussed about this Paul. There is no way to connect you group to your page to collect payment from your client.
You may make payment outside Facebook , Paul.

So there you have it. Its not a problem. I also have taken a screenshot for future proof incase things goes tits up!

In reply to Dindy.

@Dindy: Thanks. Yes, it has helped us a lot too. :)
These instructions are for switching from http to https.
You would need a different set of instructions to migrate from sub-directory to sub-domain. Off the top of my head, here is what is most important.

Adding a CNAME in DNS interface to point a sub-domain of your choice

Adding 301 redirection rules to migrate subdirectory URLs to subdomain URLs

This guide sits in my bookmark toolbar as it's my 'go-to' SSL reference.

I'm wondering-would the same instructions (without the SSL stuff) be what I would use to switch the url of a subdomain? The files will be in the same folder that they're currently in, but I want to change the url; ie, going from
https://site.com/subdirectory
to
https://subdomain.site.com
, which I believe would resolve better. Some browsers and phones don't resolve to the first url correctly. Just thought I'd ask before I make the change.

ps-I have found that "Go Live Update URLs" plugin works better than "Velvet Blues Update URLs".

Thanks for the great tutorial!
