Your post reminded me of one of Meg Ryan’s lines in ‘You’ve Got Mail’ when she talks about the smell of pencils. Too funny! Like everyone else, I’m stationary supply junkie! Seriously. I love fresh notebooks. Every October, I hit the sales bin from Back School and go hog wild! Ah, it’s almost as good a feeling as eating chocolate. LOL

It was nice to see you at Mama Writers. I’m definitely joining to check out your Poseidon series. I adore mythology! Best wishes!

Oh, Ashley, your DD#2 running off from you makes me feel like I’m not alone. *sigh* My almost 3 y.o ran away from me at the college a couple of weeks ago and ran into some mucky-muck’s office. LOL I was so embarrassed! Luckily, said mucky-muck thought my boy’s sudden visit quite the thing.

I usually ask my hubby’s gma for advice. She raised 5 kids and helped with her 13 siblings kids. aka- she’s a pro. Sure some of it is ‘old school’ way of thinking, but normally she’s spot on. If there are any issues I think she can’t help with, I turn to one of the many specialists I take my boy to every day. LOL

I did like your bullet list though. I think I’m going to write those down. Thanks for sharing!

Okay, Sarah…to be fair… as soon as I realized what I had in my hand was NOT the census, but just a warning that the census was coming [and AFTER I got over being irritated about it not being the actual census!], my reaction was very similar to your husbands’. What are they thinking sending out double postage??? But then I remembered that the post office is in big trouble and thinking of cutting the delivery days down to four or five to try to make up monetary losses and it occurred to me that perhaps this was, in a way, like a little stimulus money being funneled the post office’s direction - helping them keep postal employees working. [Yes, thank you... I DO try to positively rationalize EVERYTHING!!!] hehehe….

LOL When my hubby got the mail and saw that tiny letter, he was ticked. Oh, my penny-pinchin’ man. He was mentally adding up how money it cost to send everyone that little memo instead of the real thing. Men!

We’re both looking forward to filling one out. It will be our first. We were both students when the last one came around, so our parents were the ones doing the writing. LOL I feel so grown up!! *wink wink*

I think that is so cool you were able to find some much info from the census. You dazzled me with that tidbit!

I was totally excited when I got the Census envelope today, thought about you, and remembered it was very slim and would just be the letter, not to run to my desk, lol

I so remember those days of the No. 2 pencils and the pressure they brought with them. Even then I loved putting words on paper and over the years nothing has changed except to do more.

I got all giddy just reading your post. Pens and journals and post-its and poster boards and… Okay, I’ll stop. Oh, yes, I love them all. And you’re absolutely right–they’re exciting because these are the tools we use in the writing journey. It’s fun just to think about it. And now I’m off to brainstorm my new idea…with a journal and that shiny new pen that sits kind of heavy in my hand. Oooh nice.

First - LOVE the Atlantis theme… congratulations on such a wonderful idea, plucked from the aether! Would love to hear more about your road to publication sometime. Did you write when your kids were really little? now that mine are growing, finding time is more challenging than ever!

I stand right with you. I’m an office-product-aholic! My kids LOVE when we go there, because anything within reason is fair game. In fact, recently we’ve gone so far as experiment with paper making — what to do with the reams of “scratch paper” left over from my latest MS editing…
