Wow, thank you! New Orleans is a special place. I would encourage you to visit, though summer can be daunting. The weather is much more pleasant in April and October. People have long come here for the architecture, music and cuisine. It’s out of this world!

Bravo! I am so, so thrilled to hear this. I wish you the best in rebuilding your home back in New Orleans. I am hoping to visit this summer, as I have never been and would love to soak up some culture and life before hell starts in the fall (nursing school). Congrats!!

Hey Liz! Great point. Communicators know how to engage employees… to talk with them, not at them. We bring an emotive, human dimension to the table. In this scenario, that’s a valuable commodity. Numbers, policy and rules will all sound authoritarian.

Great post! Would love to listen in on a conversation between the creator of the AFL-CIO comic and one of my favorite lawyers, Ben Stein (also economist, writer and actor). Granted Ben Stein is an unusual lawyer. Many communication pros could learn writing lessons from this ex-presidential speechwriter. Aside from him and a few others though, business leaders should tap communication professionals to write. This means trusting the communication pros to write in a compelling manner, not synthetic material.
