Litigation and patent litigation in particular, as I have said elsewhere is the sport of kings. It may also be the sign of a maturing industry. At the beginning there is plenty of real estate to go around (metaphorically speaking) and players need their capital to grow their business. Litigation is a low priority. As an industry matures, growth comes, in part, from pushing others aside — hence litigation. Also, you go from consuming capital to generating it. So, you have money to play in the litigation game. Lot’s of interesting battles shaping up among Apple, Microsoft, Google and others.

Although that will work, it still prevents you from ever being truly untethered. You require the desktop to make that work. I think that will be more and more unacceptable as time goes on. The \old\ Windows Mobile model forced you to the desktop requently for syncying and usually for app installation. Apple showed that near full-time OTA works for a huge number of people. I think that people now expect that from their devices – hence the Marketplace approach for app purchases. I dont ‘think requiring desktop intervention is going to be a good long-term answer to the problem. Better clients or better back-end support is what’s really needed.

Wow,this is plugging in! I thnk it’s a good idea to switch off tech if you are using it all day long.

I don’t have this relationship with tech, thanks to my work which doesn’t oblige me to be always connected. Thus, it’s just me choosing if and when to switch off my Touchh Pro2 while around or Netbook while at home.

I’d say I am really lucky
