I am a very poor student and brought some pasta from my house for dinner tonight. The Charger Cafe was completely empty and I politely asked if I could use the microwave to heat up my food. Just FYI: I am spending over $5,500 on tuition for the coming semester. I have non-resident status and classes are roughly $500 an hour.

I proceeded to heat up my dinner and get a glass of water. However, I began to get the 'evil eye' from a employees. Also, FYI, there were over 4 employees congregated at a table and not working. The 'evil' eye employee stated that the cafeteria was for buffet only and I was not allowed to get a glass of water. Are you serious? I am not able to get a glass of water? That is just plain wrong. Then the conversation slowly escalated as I sat down to eat my 'heated up' food.

"You are not allowed to eat in here." Are you serious? There was not one student in the whole place. Not one!!!! "This is a buffet only. You cannot eat here unless you pay $8."

FYI: I have TOTAL respect for employees following the rules and being respectful to their superiors. However, there is also an unwritten rule of customer service that applies to all service-oriented establishments. This 'unwritten rule' was severely violated. Tone is very important and I felt as though I was committing a crime. Seriously!!!

In the end, students at UAH pay these employees. Yet it is these VERY employees THAT REFUSE to respect students. We are in fact their ultimate superiors.

I proceeded to dump my food from my plate into a cramped Tupperware container, pour out my water, and leave fuming. I told the employees that I was paying over $5500 dollars to go to school here and I expected to be treated in a MUCH better manner than I was treated today.

I went over to Charger Brew to get my water. I would like to comment here that the people that work in this 'small' establishment provide EXCELLENT customer service. They apologized for the way I was treated and very willingly gave me a large glass of ice water. Indeed, it has a cool Starbucks logo on it and probably cost them at least .10 to give it to me for free. She said that they are in conflict with the employees of the Charger Cafe on a daily basis.

Someone needs to speak to these employees about their attitudes, how they treat students, and instruct them on how to develop a better service mentality for students in need. I am very frustrated with this incident. I would appreciate further action taken by this paper if at all possible. Thanks so much.

Besides this incident I have been so IMPRESSED with this campus as a whole. People that work at admissions, financial aid, the cashiers office, the wellness center, and the Civil Engineering department have all have gone 'far and above' the call to help me in this difficult transition from Arkansas.

Thank you so much,

Although the original version of Munchkin is a parody card game of fantasy in general and Dungeons & Dragons specifically, there are numerous other parody "flavors" of Munchkin available. These flavors include Star Munchkin (parody of science fiction), Munchkin Fu (parody of Hong Kong action), Munchkin Bites! (parody of horror), Super Munchkin (parody of super-heroes), Munchkin Impossible (parody of secret spies), Munchkin Cthulhu (parody of Lovecraftian horror), The Good, The Bad, and the Munchkin (parody of the Old West), and Munchkin Booty (parody of pirates).

The best method of learning about public Munchkin game events as well as other game events in the Huntsville area is to join the Rocket City Table Gamers Google Group. The group website is http://groups.google.com/group/rocket-city-table-gamers.

Just to amend this with a minor correction, the gift cards donated by Barnes and Noble are provided by the new management of the on campus bookstore. The gift cards are for their new bookstore, but can be used at any B&N location as well.

Jason,

Would you mind providing a copy of the original article? Couldn't find it in the archives.

Also, Dohrmann has claimed in multiple venues that the SuperTeaching technology is patented. As in he has been awarded patents. That is an outright lie. Anyone can apply for a patent. Actually getting patents is another matter. Whether Dohrmann eventually receives patents is beside the point for two reasons. One, he is still lying now. Two, a patent wouldn't mean that the technology is effective or desirable in the marketplace. SuperTeaching remains unproven.

<a href="http://www.uspto.gov/faq/patents.jsp#a1" rel="nofollow">See this from the USPTO</a>:

1. What do the terms “patent pending” and “patent applied for” mean?

A. They are used by a manufacturer or seller of an article to inform the public that an application for patent on that article is on file in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The law imposes a fine on those who use these terms falsely to deceive the public.

---

Dohrmann is mischaracterizing the patent status of the SuperTeaching product, which means he is breaking the law as explained by the USPTO.

More background <a href="http://www.flashpointblog.com/2009/09/02/super-teaching-why-is-uah-involved-with-a-very-dangerous-con-man/" rel="nofollow">can be found here</a> as well.

The problem with the price increase is that it's just another deterrent for local prospective students to think of UAH as the "affordable" college. Every time someone says "most public universities around the US charge similar prices for X," the more people will look to other public universities around the US.
