I attended A&M in 54 (BS Forestry) and MS in 1958 (Forest Management)
My second son as born in Larimer County Hospital. I have many memories of places like the Town Pump and the Hauf Brau, outside of town..We used to enjoy Poudre Valley Creamery and their good ice cream. Fort Collins, a great community.

thank you for this very informative article.
I come from Germany, but I will come to Fort Collins for at least half a year. Leading a sustainable life and buying fair trade products is very important to me, so I want to continue this when I live in Colorado. Could you help me with some adresses (like fair trade shops or markets where I can buy organic products…)somewhere in Fort Collins?

The Athens Cafe is not run by anyone with any experience with Greek food. The owners and cooks are from Nebraska. That might normally be okay, if they followed any real Greek recipes, but they don’t; they make up their own.

The worst thing noted at the Athens Cafe is that they substitute pork for their lamb. They use 1 or two pieces of lamb on the Kabobs and fill the rest with pork! I caught the cooks and waitress discussing this “trick” and she said that it saves them $2 per lamb meal ordered. Problem with that? It’s dishonest, and potentially illegal.
