Part of the reason I've made this open source is for others to take inspiration from me, and if people want to help, I'm happy to accept. There are things I'm not so great at (designing a logo springs to mind) so people don't even have to be able to code.

I also found it useful to have the reference for the standard (std) library, and references for LibTCOD and Boost open, and it does help (in some ways) to have experience with other languages.

Awesome, i'm going to look into that site. Are you looking for people to help you code this game in the future, etc. etc?

I will be following this project closely as I like it and i feel i learn better by example once i can handle the basics.

I learned by going through <a href="http://www.learncpp.com/" rel="nofollow">Learn C++</a> and various other tools. I did try learning C a long time ago, and failed miserably, thinking C++ would be along the same lines. After that, I learned Java, PHP, Ruby, ASP (JavaScript and VBScript) and by extension JavaScript/ECMAScript and Python before trying this version (C++) and coming to the conclusion that it's not all that bad. I've made a few mistakes (as the Doryen Library forums will testify!) but that's how we learn.

Good luck with your learning!

Hey, I really love the idea of this game, I stumbled across this while looking into finding a roguelike framework and looking into cyberpunk rogues, anyway, i was wondering if you could recommend any place to learn C++, I know a few simpler scripting languages (Perl, PHP) and have found it very hard to learn C++ in the past but now seeing projects like this I'm more interested, and feel I could better motivate myself to learn. I would greatly appreciate a reply, thanks chummer.

Thank you for the kind words. Given that the project is about 12-13 years old (mostly theoretical), I guess another few days/weeks isn't going to make a large difference in the scheme of things.

As for my "bad times", ranting gives me the outlet that means I can deal with it. I don't aim it at anyone in particular, but it helps me feel much better about the things that do happen, along with playing (violent) games to get my frustrations out.

I'll get around to posting an updated version when I have it - just because I'm not posting, and not necessarily coding, doesn't mean I'm not working on things in my head.
