without the cameras and operators to help co ordinate shoplifters being stopped by daytime security it would be down to little more than who could run the fastest, the police wouldnt get to hear about it in time and the offender would get away almost everytime. Also without this deterrant there would likely be a huge rise in this type of crime.

CCTV is also vital for communiction at nights, lets say someone gets a bottle smashed over their head in a bar and the offender gets away in the dark because the door staff cannot leave their venues unattended, at present the operators could use the cameras to keep sight of the offender, direct the police to them and keep them out of other venues until they are stopped. With no cameras there would be nothing to stop offenders from walking free, getting back into other bars and possibly doing it again.

Lincoln is a MUCH safer place with the cameras and even though it would likely take them being turned off for most people to realise this, id hope it didnt come to that

It is such an important part of crime solving on a daily basis I cannot believe They are even considerating closing it down. Crime will go un solved also the comunication between security guards and the police will be minimal can’t see the sense at all. Lincoln will be a haven for offenders without CCtv.

I realise that every council has serious pressure to save large sums of money. However, the CCTV should be last on the list, not the first. It gives security to people and business in the area it operates. It is vital to safety in the night-time economy. I am a director of Lincoln Street Pastors, and know just how vital CCTV can be in the work our Pastors carry out. I also know the perspective of a worker for the Nomad Trust, who would be unable to carry on with his duty, but for the nighttime provision of CCTV. Speaking of nightime ecomomy, I believe the progress in greater safety which has been achieved thus saving money in many areas, would be reversed.

whilst recognising the need to reduce expenditure the cost to the community and individuals could far outweigh any savings.
the service must be retained to support law enforcement, with the aid of external funding if required.
are there opportunities to share a common control room with neighbouring towns eg grimsby, boston, grantham, scunthorpe or newark

The cameras are there for everybody’s protection against whatever happens.

I used to be a security guard. Without CCTV you may as well give into the idiots, they would have a free hand to what they want.

Policing is less now, so these act as a deterrent. People are less likely to do wrong when they know there are cameras, plus they protect the innocent.

As an OAP I feel that the cameras in the city make for my safety. If we are cutting down on the Police presence then we must keep surveillance in our city streets. Also with that added safety of Camera Surveillance it will certainly be a very good selling point to bring in visitors and therefore revenue to our lovely City of Lincoln. If one cuts back to far then Lincoln will go back 50 years and will take a long time to climb back again.

I work as part of the Street Pastors team who operate in the city centre on Friday and Saturday evenings. We would find it difficult to undertake our work, without the CCTV and the control room.
We are all working towards a safer night time economy of which the CCTV is an integral part.
I appreciate the cost, but the City Council ought to do more to get the cost covered by grants and contributions from venues.

I believe that the charecter,(which was the Lincoln, people liked to visit)is being slowly destroyed!
