I actually used store bought pie crusts and used a cupcake pan to make small cupcake sized pot pies. Threw in some frozen peas and carrots and cooked the cubed chicken and soup together to heat up on a frying pan. Very cute, it was very easy and yummy.

Fair warning, using a cupcake pan takes longer but it made my little toddler happy to have a his-sized pot pie.

Why is the cost of the items you already had on hand not included in the total cost? Just because they were purchased prior to the week doesn’t mean they don’t enter in to the total food cost…there was still money spent on them at some point. I find that somewhat misleading in the claim of a $40/week food cost.

Where do you shop that only charges $2.00 a gallon for milk? Even Walmart sells theirs for almost $4.00 a gallon!! Also, I agree that you should include ALL ingredients in pricing. Just because you have it on hand doesn’t mean that the rest of us do.

Hi, I am curious what state you are grocery shopping in? I live in Southern California and all of the ingredients you list are at least DOUBLE THE COST! Your menu ideas are still a good budget option but not anywhere near the cost you are quoting.

Hi, I like your menu ideas, but you are WAY OFF on your prices! I live in southern California and every item you list is at least double what you are quoting? I’m curious what state you are shopping in? The menus are still a great resource and will save me money, I just don’t want others to be disillusioned by your total cost for the week.
