First of all, this is a really informative post! I've got a little question bothering me, I really love the design of your website and tried to download the same theme on my Worpdress blog. Stil, there is some kind of strange php error in the sidebar. Do you have any tips, which settings are you using? Please PM me on Twitter @FitTipz or per e-mail.

You don't need an insulator. You need to move the cold are through that area that is being heated, and thus, "recycle" the wasted heat. The stove should be designed with that in mind for max. efficiency.

what you really need IMHO is an adjustable pot skirt. Just wrap it around the pot, then cover it with an insulator.

Take an office clip and use the clip to adjust the size. Coffe cans can be clamped together to make an effective skirt also.
