Reading both Barcamp and Karunagapally together, one can easily misunderstand Barcamp as ‘Bar’ Camp.  Fortunately, Barcamp is something entirely different.

BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join. There are no registration fees or any charges for a Barcamp as this is a user-generated conference. You are invited to volunteer for various activities for putting up a successful camp.

This is not exclusively for techies. This is a meet up of Expert techies, beginners and  those who are interested in these subjects but not really into the technology.

A three day exhibition on Sanskrit was inaugurated yesterday at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. The aim of the exhibition is to take the sansrit language to the masses. The exhibition was inaugurated by Swami Poornanandapuri, general secretary of Mata Amritanandamayi Math.

The exhibition is organised by the Sanskrit students at the institute in association with Vishwa Sanskrit Prathishthan. The exhibition has item that we use in daily life with its name written in both Malayalam and Sanskrit. Information on the knowledge embedded in Sanskrit in the Indian Scientific Heritage and science subjects is also made available. The exhibition will conclude on Wednesday.

As part of this project 30 hi tech fish markets will be opened all over the state. Ernakulam alone will have 30 such markets. Providing quality fish at the very reasonable price is the aim of such markets.

The Matsyafed is planning to renovate Ernakulam Fish market soon by spending 3 crores. Along with the 10 fish marts proposed, a base station for distribution of fish is also being considered for the district

The event is aimed to give a feel of Rajasthan and facilitate a better understanding of the state, provide complete information along with showcasing the Rajasthan traditional culture and the exquisite range of Rajasthani handicraft products and delicacies. Food courts, live dances and free mehendi designs are the main highlight of the event.

Lions District, Lions Club International, Kochi Heartcare Foundation, Indian Cardiological Society, police, Kochi Corporation, Indian Navy, Arogya Keralam, and the GCDA are expected to jointly sponsor the event.

This is the first marathon to be held in Cochin, and in the coming years the marathon will be conducted as a major festival. The winner of the event will be awarded  rupees 1 lakh.

The Friends of Tibet is all set to welcome Lama and they have lined up a series of Tibet related programmes.  Friends of Tibet have been organising couple of exhibitions as part of the welcoming programme. An exhibition of select cartoons on the Tibetan issues is going on at the Kashi Art Cafe, Fort Kochi. The other one is an exhibition of the photographs on Tibet and Dalai Lama along with the artifacts from Tibet. These will be on display at the Gateway Hotel on Saturday. The artifacts include coins and currencies from the then independent Tibet, a radio used by Dalai Lama and the banned Tibetan National Flag.
