Poll: 50 Percent in U.S. Are Pro-Life; Abortion Supporters Hit All-Time Low

Fifty percent of Americans identify themselves as “pro-life,” compared to a record-low 41 percent who say they are “pro-choice,” according to a Gallup poll released Wednesday. The poll found a significant shift in a key election demographic: Independents, who were “pro-life” by a 47-to-41 percent margin. It is only the second time since 2001 that pro-lifers held the majority among independents and, according to Gallup, was driven by a 10 percent drop in pro-choice independents and 6 percent hike among pro-lifers since the same time last year. “The independent results are really encouraging,” said Kristan Hawkins, executive director of Students for Life of America. “Now, a majority are pro-life heading into the (presidential) election.”

Two Wisconsin Abortion Outlets Stop Performing Chemical Abortions

Affiliated Medical Services announced today that it has suspended chemical abortions at its Wisconsin location due to a new state law requiring a doctor to be physically present when a client is given an abortion-inducing drug like RU-486. Planned Parenthood outlets made a similar announcement on April 24. Act 217 became law last month. It stops the use of “web cam abortions,” where an abortionist in one location uses the Internet to oversee a chemical abortion at another site.
