I was recently watching “The Wizard of Oz” and was reminded about how we look outside ourselves for help instead of trusting our inner power.

Dorothy gets swept away by a tornado, only to be dropped in the Land of Oz with no obvious way home. She learns about the “great and powerful Oz” and how he can ‘save’ her. On the yellow brick road she meets three other characters who are desperate to get a brain, heart and courage and so they take the journey with her.

When they see the Emerald City in the distance, Dorothy says, “He must be a wonderful wizard to live in a city like that.” She got fooled by appearances as by the end of the movie she has her very own red carpet moment when she discovers that she had the power within all along to go home. And her three friends discover that the brain, heart and courage they wanted were already within them too.

Think about your life… Are you giving your power away? Are you listening to others when really you have the answers within? Are you waiting for someone else to save you?

When we are particularly pressured to find a solution to a problem or confused about ’how’ we are going to reach a goal or get through a challenge, we tend to be weakened and therefore susceptible to going for the glam! An emerald city is that shining bright, appearing to have the answer. But is really just an illusion when really we have all the answers within.

When you meet someone or have a solution in front of you, don’t just jump. Take a few breaths, exhaling longer than your inhale to slow you down and get in touch and ask yourself, “Am I going in this direction because I am reacting from fear and getting fooled by appearances?”

Like Dorothy, you really do have the power within to find the answers.

To learn more about how you can trust yourself more, break through your fears and get the guidance you need along your path, I invite you to read chapter 11 in my book, Kiss Your Monsters Goodbye: Overcome Your Obstacles & Achieve the Success You Deserve.

The Olympics just ended with a bang. As some of you know, I was born and raised in Canada so you can imagine when we won Gold in Men’s Hockey I jumped from my couch and screamed and danced around my living room for 15 minutes. It was pretty hilarious when I noticed the neighbours outside walking their dogs, looking in my window confused (since I live in the US). Both US and Canada teams did an amazing job and should be so proud.

In reflecting about Olympic Athletes, they are ultimate example of how to set a goal and go after that dream until it is accomplished.

Here are a few key habits successful athletes have:
•	They keep the end vision strong, even when they fall along the way.
•	When they do fall, they see it as feedback for them to grow and make adjustments so they can enjoy future success.
• They do not see their ‘mistakes’ as failures. Instead of getting stuck in the drama of “oh I failed, guess I suck,” they see it as vital information they can use to get them to their goal faster.
•	They visualize their performance over and over and over again until the desired result is crystal clear in their mind.
•	They push past any injuries or pain they may have. They do not let it stop them.
• Staying focused, they work hard and will do anything and everything they need to in order to achieve their goal… even if it is uncomfortable and they are afraid.
• For maximum success, they engage only the muscles they need and relax the others in order to have the balance of intense energy with allowing. If they are too tense in the areas they don’t need to be, this stress will cause them to be unfocused and throw the working muscles out of alignment.
•	Discipline, period.
•	The willingness to sacrifice as they see it as an investment in their future success.
•	The ability to delay gratification until the goal is reached.

Review the list and reflect on a goal or dream you are working on…how many of those key elements are you applying? And where do you need to step it up?

As my company grows, my team and I have created a code of ethics based on some of the important trends we have been seeing in the our industry. Partially to keep us accountable and on track but also to make sure that you knew where we stand and what to expect from us from here on out.

When the movie “The Secret” came out, the craze began and millions of people attempted to apply Law of Attraction (LOA) to their lives. As much as I appreciate the exposure that “The Secret” brought to our industry, it was missing some key and critical points.

Now to be clear, LOA is highly complicated and very misunderstood. It takes years of consistent study and application to master it, more than any 2 hour movie can provide. I am not blaming the Secret. But unfortunately, the way the majority of material in our industry has been presented tends to be airy fairy and not based in real life application. It is now several years later and I am seeing a bunch of jaded people, lacking faith and confused.

The other trend we noticed were a select group of leaders (not all) who were manipulating people into buying insanely expensive programs and in the meantime were not walking their own talk. As a result, many out there now see our industry as filled with a bunch quacks who are self proclaimed gurus out to scam people.

A wonderful trend we are seeing though is a rise of new leaders who are dedicated to authenticity and providing more practical, real life, long term solutions for you.

On a personal note, I have struggled with authenticity because I hate hurting people’s feelings so I would over embellish or not speak up. I have been working hard to change this pattern for the last couple of years and I really feel like I am able to speak my truth with love now. In growing my business, in the past, I have also made the mistake of listening to experts and then doing things that simply were not in line with me. Now I am learning to really listen to ME.

My Code of Ethics

I really do want to make a positive difference on this planet and so from here on out, here is my code of ethics that I am going to do my absolute best to adhere to. I am so dedicated to the following that in the past year I have let go of ALL of my original team and have created a new team who are completely in line me.

I promise you…
1. I will NEVER call myself a guru. EVER. (Although I may call myself a diva sometimes!)
2. If I don’t have the answer, I will tell you as opposed to making something up that may or may not be in your best interest. Although my ego would like to think so, I do not know everything.
3. I am human and will make mistakes and when I do, I will take responsibility for my stuff.
4. I will walk my talk, as challenging as it may be sometimes and call myself out when I don’t. Expect me to share openly and honestly about some of the ups and down along my own journey and the lessons I am learning.
5. If I recommend a program or book to you, it is because I have personally reviewed it in depth and really believe it could be of benefit to you.
6. I won’t offer you a quick fix. I am here to provide you with long term strategies applied to real world situations. It is your responsibility to implement the ones that feel right for you.
7. When it comes to my products, services and events, I will always seek to find the balance between giving you all I can and keeping it as affordable as possible while honoring my own talents and time and charging what I am worth.
8. When it comes to our public community (such as my blog and on my Facebook fan page), I will provide a safe place for you to go, share and be supported. You may lovingly and freely express your thoughts, stories and inspirations. It is okay if you express opinions that may be different than others, as long as you show respect and acceptance. Any person in our community that posts any prejudice or hurtful comments of any kind will be removed and banned.
9. I will be as inspiring, informative and entertaining as possible.
10. I will push myself to always go bigger so I can be a good example to you.

Thank you again for being part of my journey. I am excited to continue to have you as part of our community. If you feel aligned with my code of ethics and want to continue to hear from me, please subscribe to be on my mailing list below. You will receive my free report, LOA means nothing without this…

P.S. Here is an example of a post from someone who emailed me:

“Being a PHILOSOPHER, I now understand that the quiet time I enjoy each morning to reflect is actually helping me to get ahead in my life. In the past, I questioned if perhaps I should be taking more physical action even though deep down this reflection seemed to bring me much joy and progress.

I am also an ATHLETE and MUSICIAN and find that they both serve me well in my acting career. I play soothing music all day while working and find that a balance between physical activity and rest serve me best.”

I have been frustrated seeing so many amazing people, who deserve so much, struggling for years, trying to figure out this whole law of attraction and achievement stuff and not getting results. So I decided to do something about it.

Have you read every book, watched every video but your life hasn’t really changed and you don’t understand why?

I am going to be honest: People are wasting too much time talking about visualization and meditation. Law of Attraction may NEVER work for you using these methods.

Okay I know that is a very bold statement. BUT IT IS TRUE.

We are often encouraged to manifest our desires through meditation, affirmations and visualizations. But many of us say, “Ahhhh I can’t sit still and meditate,” Or “I can’t see pictures or create them in my head” or “I just can’t seem to write an affirmation. It just doesn’t flow. Grrrr.” If that is you, it is because those methods are not your natural way of functioning.

You can set goals, follow all the rules of manifesting, take action and still get no results.

What is the missing key to achievement?

The missing key is to take the necessary steps by using your strengths … each of us have a unique blend of natural talents and skills… I call these your superstar personalities! The better you understand how you use your assets to learn, create, de-stress and vision, the faster you can break through your barriers to achievement and truly live the red carpet life you were born for.

The key is to really learn in depth what your strengths are and apply them to manifestation because when you live from your natural strengths and talents, the struggle falls away.

I have created a fun video quiz for you so you can discover WHAT your superstar qualities are. Make sure to get your free report after the quiz so you can learn HOW you can apply them to create authentic success in your life.

You may have the superstar personality like Oprah, MichaeI Jordan or maybe even Einstein!!!

“What’s Your Superstar Personality?”

Almost a year ago I was drugging through a blizzard in high heels to the US immigration office in Toronto, Canada. After many grueling months of hard work, I was about to have my interview to see if my visa would be approved.

After signing in, I noticed a man next to me, about to go in for his interview. He was unshaven, wearing a pair of jeans and looking out of sorts. I was completely shocked. He was completely sabotaging himself.

As a background…The type of visa that we were applying for is extremely challenging to get. The application is 500 pages long and completely exhausting and emotionally draining to complete. I had to work 24/7 for 3 months straight to prepare it and had a team of 5 to help me. Not to mention the substantial amount of money that anyone doing this visa has to spend along the way.

The interview is the last step. All I kept thinking was, “After all that hard work, your dream on the line and all the money you spent, why would you show up looking like you are going to a seedy bar? You could lose everything you worked for.”

I just kept thinking about how many of us say we want something and may even work hard and go after it yet never seem to reach the top and have our red carpet moment.

Here are things to reflect on:

1. Be really honest with yourself. Look at something you want but have not achieved yet and ask yourself, “Am I sabotaging my own success or is there more I need to learn before I accomplish this goal?”

2. If you are sabotaging yourself, ask why. What is the payoff? Often we stay stuck where we are, unable to break through because it is serving us somehow. Example, I realized just this week that I have yet to meet my life partner because I am sabotaging by always using work as an excuse. “Oh I will get out there when I get this project done.” My payoff is that as long as I am distracted by work, I don’t have to face my fear of rejection.

3. Once you know how staying stuck is serving you, then you can start to face that monster and start healing it… whether you talk to a friend, journal about it, write a forgiveness letter, etc. For me, I closed my eyes and imagined talking to someone who had rejected me in the past, told them I forgive them and myself, gave them hug and then saw the cords connecting us dissolve so I would no longer be tied to them.

4. Take action… even if it feels uncomfortable. So tonight I am off to a sexy singles mix and mingle. You? How are you going to move forward, stop sabotaging yourself and be the superstar you were meant to be?

He has been the opening act for Christina Aguilera and Pussycat Dolls and released his first album, Memoirs of a Superhero, last year.

Aside from being a phenomenal singer, it was great to hear how he is applying Law of Attraction to climb the charts and become international. He shares the barriers he has had to overcome, including having to rise above family objections.

Included in this interview are clips of his Canadian Idol audition where he sang Lionel Richie’s song, Hello, and then got his gold ticket. Check out the look on Judge Sass Jordan’s face as he croons with his smooth R&B voice and Flex Farley screaming about his amazing tone. Truly inspiring!

When your car breaks down, you get ill or something else happens that we as a society deem as negative, it may be a wake up call from the universe. A true superstar does not brush off these incidents as chance. Instead they know how to embrace the experience, kiss that monster goodbye and shift it into a miracle.

But how do we translate those signs we get from the universe?

Let me share a personal story and the exercises I used to transform my monsters:

I was chronically fatigued from October to December and kept saying to myself, “It is just stress. I am overworked and been traveling too much.” I didn’t probe further into the root of the stress though.

Since I didn’t listen to the universe, I got another sign. 3 weeks ago I discovered a lump on my breast. My gut feeling was, “Oh it is nothing, just stress. I am sure once I get some rest it will go away.” Still not listening.

2 weeks later and the lump was bigger. Time to see a doctor. Thankfully it turned out to be a cyst. But okay NOW I am listening. Geez I can be stubborn sometimes. LOL.

So I did 2 exercises to get to the root of the issue:

1. The first evening I used activity 2 in chapter 10 of my Red Carpet Home Study Workshop and focused on my releasing my emotions. I wrote, “I am angry because…” and let whatever I felt flow out of my pen. If you are doing this exercise, you can journal about any other emotion you are feeling. Ex. “I am resentful, sad, hurt, frustrated etc…”

2. The next evening I embraced the ‘monster,’ knowing that if I acknowledged the darkness, I can find the light and shift this. I wrote, “I have a lump on my breast because…” For you, simply write the sentence as to what your specific the issue is and ask as I did.

Between both those exercises I discovered that since I moved countries a few months ago, I have been feeling isolated and abandoned as I am in a new environment with new systems and routines and many of my friends from back home have moved on without me. So poof … health issues arose because it meant I would get the attention I needed.

Once I unleashed my superstar within and really faced that monster, I had the power to create a new existence for myself. So as of last week I have been making dates with my new friends, looking into volunteer opportunities, meet ups, things to do in my area, etc. I am already feeling far more alive and connected again in only a few days.

BTW the day after my journaling I noticed that the lump got smaller on it’s own… surprise surprise! Amazing what happens when we embrace the darkness instead of pushing it away.

So when you get a sign from the universe, listen! Ask ask ask and investigate what it is. Do the above exercises.

Once you discover the root of the issue, you can start asking yourself, “What miracles can come out of this? What actions can I take to transform this situation? How can I shift a negative into a positive?” Then watch the miracles happen. Remember, you are a superstar!

A couple of weeks ago I was watching Polar Express, a beautiful holiday movie that reinforces the miracles of Christmas and having faith, even when there is lacking in evidence. There was a key moment near the end of the movie that reminded me of the key to developing that unshakable belief.

Before we go there though, let me give you some back story. In the beginning, we see the Hero Boy, played by Tom Hanks, searching for evidence to believe in Santa Claus and Christmas but instead finds himself getting more and more doubtful. He goes to sleep on Christmas eve only to be woken by the a train outside his house. Despite his reservations, that little part of him that is still hanging onto hope motivates him to jump on the polar express.

After a bunch of adventures, Hero Boy and all the other kids on the train arrive at the North Pole. The kids and elves keep talking in awe about how beautiful the bells sound. Hero Boy keeps saying “What bells? I don’t hear any bells.” Finally, the moment comes when Santa arrives and the crowd goes wild! Hero Boy keeps jumping up and down anxious to see if Santa really exists but there are too many heads in front of him. Suddenly, a bell falls off the sleigh and rolls to his feet. He grabs it and starts shaking it fiercely, desperately wanting to hear the bells. After much frustration, he completely surrenders what he thinks he knows- the KEY to belief - and exasperated says, “Fine, I believe. I believe. I believe.” And suddenly he hears the bells.

This act of surrender which leads to the miracle almost always happens in life. When we are pushing, pulling, resisting and fighting with all our might, we are stuck. This immobility keeps us trapped in our circumstances until we finally are so tired, like Hero Boy, that we simply let go. Surrender to the situation. When you let go of what you are carrying that is no longer serving you, you have no choice but to have faith that things will work out okay.

As you are about to enter 2010, it is a great time to surrender all that has not been serving you. Take time to write out all the things you are willing to let go of and release. Be grateful for blessings and consciously choose to move into 2010 clear and ready to be the superstar you were meant to be.
