This ski mountaineering tour is an absolute pleasure tour and with good snow conditions an absolute skier´s dream. The beautiful view of the Karwendelgebirge and the Achensee is pure added value.
Often you have good snow conditions here when the snow is lacking in other regions of the mountains.
In the summit area caution is advised when crossing left to the ridge for the summit. In unsafe conditions, it is better to go directly to the ridge (often on foot) to bypass the avalanche danger zone.

The Wildspitze is with 3768 meters the highest mountain in North Tyrol and the Ötztaler Alps. It is the second highest Mountain after the Grossglockner in Austria.
Due to their special position in the Eastern Alps it’s climbed very often in summer as in winter. Through the construction of the “Mitteljochbahn” in the Pitztal ski area it can now be reach in a day as a ski mountaineering or alpine tour.
Nevertheless, one should not underestimate this tour because the glacier and snow conditions are changing very often.
This tour cross the glacier and therefore requires full glacier equipment and Alpine glacier experience.

Jägerkamp and Aiplspitz-Hiking tours

This hiking trail in the “Rotwandgruppe” leads to 2 beautiful Summit, with a stunning views over the Bavarian Alps.
Because you make the ascent from the southwest side, this route is less crowded than the standard hiking trail from the “Taubensteinbahn”, or from the “Spitzingsattle”.
From the car park, you should not follow the signs for Jägerkamp or Aiplsptiz (normal route), but the hiking trail to the North.
After snow and rain, this tour should be enjoyed with caution because the hiking trail and the short ridge climb to the Aiplspitz with Alpine character can be very slippery.
The small ridge climb to the Summit of Aiplspitz can only be recommended to people who are experienced hikers.
Otherwise, it is a very worthwhile tour.

Eiswandbichlwand / Glockner-range-Ice Climbing

The “Eiswandbichlwand” can be reached in about an hour from the “Oberwalderhütte”.
This short Ice climbing Tour is ideal for a first time contact with steep ice, or as a practice route before the larger ice tours to come. The Ice wall is about roughly 45 degrees steep and it will take 3 to 4 rope lengths to climb it. Due to rock fall danger it is recommended to keep to the left side in the wall.

Johannisberg over the NW ridge-Alpine tour

The Johannisberg is a mountain in the Glockner range in the mid ridge of the Tauern area.
There are numerous ways to get to the summit, the normal track, the west wall (ice climbing) or on the NW Ridge.
For experienced mountaineers the NW-ridge is a “real treat” alpine tour with a glacier crossing, short passages in ice and corn snow up to 45 degrees and then a ridge climbing in II (UIAA) up to the summit.
From here one has a very nice view of the whole Glockner range. The descent goes over the normal track down.
This tour is an Alpine tour and the glacier quality and stability has changed dramatically this year (as of Sep. 2011), and in the NW-ridge there is no more corn ice and ice as described in the most guide books, so the rocks are now of doubtful quality.
It is highly recommended to get information from the refuge host or mountain guide before you begin this tour.
This tour is only for mountaineers with many years glacier experience.

Oberwalderhütte-Huts

The “Oberwalderhütte” is located in the Centre of the Großglockner group and has many beautiful alpine tours such as “Johannisberg”, “Die Bärenköpfe”, “Hohen Dock” , “Hohe Riffl” und “Romariswandkopf”.
Also only a 5-minute walk away from the hut you can do rock climbing or visit the ice climbing park.
The “Oberwalderhütte” location gives the visitor a beautiful view of the Großglockner and surrounding Großglockner range.

In SnowDome they have now build, Europe's first ice climbing Tower. They offer as possibility to train off-season to maintain or improve your ice climbing skills.
The tower is made massive blocks of ice put on top of each other to a height of 8 meters. The 4 walls of the tower have 4 different difficulty levels.
This is genuine funny and very nice experience to pack out your crampons and ice axe in the mid of summer to go for ice climbing. Are you near bye or would like to plan a training weekend is this a very good opportunity.

The Nürnberger refuge is located in the Stubaier Alps in Tirol. To reach the refuge you start at the parking place 1 KM after the town Ranalt. It takes around 2.5 hours to reach the refuge by foot, and on the way you can make a short stop at the “Busch Alm” for refreshment.
The most famous tour goals are the “Wilde Freiger”, or as a stopover for when you are doing the “Stubaier Runde” or “Stubaier Höhenweg”.
The Refuge also has a small climbing garden, also many climbing, “Via Ferrata” and tracking tours starts from the refuge. The Family who runs the refuge are really nice with a splendid kitchen.

The Climbing area in Paklenica was resolute in the 1930’s and is since then one of the most popular climbing areas in Croatia. The “Zuckerhütl “is one of the most popular summits in the Stubaier Alps, and therefore very often crowded.
I got the idea for this tour, when I was there in summer, so I could escape the crowd.
This is a combined Ski mountaineering, Glacier tour, freeriding, Via Ferrate tour where you will need all your different mountaineering skills.
The tour start with a Cable car ride to the “Schaufeljoch”, (You will need a ticket for 4 times cable car), then descent down “Gaiskarferner”. From here you will go in the direction of the Zuckerhütl over the “Pfafenferner”, and then climb the East Ridge (“Pfaffensattel”) to the summit.
I recommend bringing Crampons and ice axe for the summit climb. If your group has weak climbers you should install a fix rope.
After your summit rest you ski down direction “Aperer Pfaffengrat” , climb the short Via Ferrate, then continue on the ridge and rappel down into the “Fernauferne”. (There are no bolts for rappelling so you need to build your own fix point). From here you have great off-piste skiing continuing into the ski route down to the middle station, from where you can take the cable car into the valley.
You bag pack will be heavy since you need full gear for ski mountaineering and glacier climbing.
This tour is for only for experienced mountaineers.

Halserspitz-Hiking tours

The “Blauberge” are a mountain range of the Bavarian Alps on the border between Bavaria and Tyrol. The highest peak to where the tour goes is the “Halserspitz” with a height of 1862 meters.

The tour is long but rewarding with a great view of the “Blauberg” range (Blue Mountain) and surrounding “Mangfall” range.
On the way to the summit you will walk through the forest, on small meadows, next to mountain springs, a pure nature feeling.
In some passages the tour is quite exposed, so you need to have experience with tracking.

In spring or late autumn it can be of advantage to bring crampons and an ice axe, since the ridge can be snowy and icy.

The “Windbachtalkogel” can be reached by a crossing or ascend on the east side.
This very long, but beautiful tour begins at the “Krimml Tauern” house you walk in the direction towards Rainbachtal / “Richterhütte“behind the refugee. Depending on the Avalanche danger it is to decide whether to cross the left or right to “Richterhütte“ and then go to the summit. From the top you go over a ridge to the “Hohen Scharte“from which you can exit left or right. Depending on the circumstances crampons and ice axes are recommended.
If you want to avoid the crossing, you can go around the “Windbachscharte” on the north side and then ascend to the „Hohe Scharte“.

The 600 years old refugee” Krimmler Tauernhaus“ is located Venediger range in “Hohe Tauern”.
In vicinity of the hut you can do some nice ice-climbing/climbing/hiking and ski mountaineering trips. The hosts Geisler are very nice and will happily give you information about the tours and conditions around the refugee.
Since the renovation in 2005, the hotel offers a very good comfort and an excellent half-board menu.
Anyone who wants to save long hike from the parking place to the hut can use the hut taxi shuttle.

From the parking lot of the ski resort Hochfügen you walk a short distance through the forest, then on to the treeless grasslands of beautiful peaks. Here you have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and then a dream return to the car park in the valley. As the tour is very high, one has, even in poor snow conditions, plenty of snow.

This easy, but long ski mountaineering tour is an insider tip and when the conditions are right you will have perfect off-piste rides in the areas around Ross- und Buchstein with a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains.

When you have left (here are many of tobogganing on the road) valley behind, you can enjoy the beautiful slopes often alone. If you have time, you can extend the tour to Schoenberg and Seekarkreuz.

The steep summit slopes are only to ride in the right avalanche conditions. A lunch break afterwards in the Buchsteinhütte is absolutely worth it.

When skiing down you should after the Buchsteinhütte take the forest road, the runs down parallel to the stream towards the parking area.

Classic ski mountaineering tour from the Meissner house, first through the forest, then over large fields to the peak Morgenkogel.
I would not describe this trip as a beginner trip, because the first part is very steep and technically challenging.

The most other Tour description recommends that you should ski down the same way as the ascent, I would not recommend this! If ski down in the gutter directly across from the Meissner house you will with good snow conditions have a great powder run

The Südwandschmankerl is a wonderful climb and recomdable in spring and autumn because of its southern exposure. The tour runs in a crack-intersection in the right area of the south wall. The tour is officially 6 - rated, but I personally think that the key point could be assessed with a 6.
The tour is very well secured with bolts. Only 16 quick draws are needed and maybe a few Friends. The descent is way over the Tegernsee hut.

Many say that this is the most beautiful and romantic refuge in Bavaria, with a wonderful view of the Bavarian mountains. The cabin was built at 1650 m altitude and lies like an eagle's nest in between the mountains of Ross and Buchstein. Both peaks are reached in 15 minutes from the refuge.
With over 90 climbing routes from III to IX + , which in the immediate vicinity of the hut lie, the area is a Mecca for climbers and hikers.

The climbing area of Bad Heilbrunn is a former quarry. The climbing garden gives the climbers of Munich and surrounding areas an opportunity to climb on real rock in the vicinity of Munich. One tour also has 2 pitches, so everything can be practiced. The down part that is that the tours are in the shadow and it can take some time for the tours to dry up. But otherwise I can only recommend the climbing garden.

The Pitztal Urkund ridge crossing from north to south (Urkund Saddle) is a very nice tour with a beautiful ridge climb with a great view overlooking the Pitztal Alps and Taschachferner glacier.
The tour is in the degree of difficulty of 3, and recently were two drilled hooks installed so you can rappel safely put in the two key places in the route.
It is important that you always stick to the ridge.
Please watch out on the way back to the Taschachhaus because you have to cross two glacier crack zones.

This is a high alpine tour and you need experience in ridge crossing, rock, ice and glacier climbing. Even in summer the route is often covered with snow and ice.

The Gran Paradiso (4061m), is the highest mountain in Italy and a classic ski mountaineering peak located in the Gran Paradiso National park. You can access the area either from Alagna or Gressoney (Stafel)
The cable cars will take you in any direction up to the mountain where you then have great possibility for off-piste skiing. This place is an insidertip and really worth a trip as the local towns have a really original flair.

The Capanna Gnifetti refuge (3647) is the perfect starting point for ski and high alpine tours in the Monte Rosa Massif where you have easily access to over 14 (Dufourspitze, Zumsteinspitze, Signalkuppe etc.) 4000 mountains.
Last year the refugee was renovated and got a new holder so I can only recommend the refuge now.
You can get to the refuge from either Alagna or Gressoney (Stafel) by cable car to the Passo Salati, from where you start your ascent up to the refuge. The Gressoney side is preferable since the cable cars are running there more often.
