It was my first visit to CHIQUITO'S and it was quite a revelation, the warmth of the welcome was great and the atmosphere was warm and cosy.

The menu was so varied that I was really spoilt for choice so I started with a really unusual dish which was CHORIZO & GEM LETTUCE WRAPS. It was gorgeous and so light, what a clever idea to use the lettuce to fill with the tasty chorizo.

The main course was even more difficult to choose from the extensive menu. Burgers, Wraps, Quesadillas, Steaks etc. etc.

I oped for the BLACKENED SALMON SIZZLER which arrived looking so tempting on a bed of vegetables topped with pink onions. It was moist and delicious and I loved the idea of it being served on a sizzling skillet.

It was accompanied with sweet potato chips which were crispy and scrumptious.

There was a tempting desert menu but I decided to opt out for another time.

CHURCHTOWN DELI ,in the short time it has opened ,has certainly made its mark in the area. It is based in the gorgeous Botanic Road and on entering you are overwhelmed by the variety of products in this small emporium.

The first product that took my eye was Toffee Waffles which are gorgeous ,and even more gorgeous if you place one on top of a mug of coffee and it warms and melts the toffee in the centre. They are sourced from a company called Tregroes in Wales.

If your teenagers live on Pot Noodles encourage them to try Kabuto Noodles which are packed with healthy ingredients . It's worth buying to read the label full of interesting slogans etc,

Looking for Xmas gifts for foodies look no further .

I can almost guarantee that if you try them at the Lansdowne you will love them. They are cooked in the most unctuous red wine sauce and are served with perfectly cooked rice.

The menu is eclectic and each meal I have eaten in this warm and cosy bistro has been scrumptious.

I have tried their Lobster Bisque, cod cooked in various ways, seafood ,the list is endless but each meal has been cooked to perfection.

It's a gem of a restaurant tucked away behind Sainsburys car park, highly recommended.

Boots Chemist is jam packed with so many new interesting products on the shelves .

I have tried the Lift t & Luminate face mask which is a very fine muslin impregnated with moisturiser. I suggest you use it when you are alone as it might scare the family!! However, it's really great and leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth after about 15 mins.

If you are looking for face makeup a very clever innovation is the No 7 foundation collection.

The idea is to discover the exact match of makeup for your skin tone, you have a assessment and a consultant then produces the perfect colour for your skin. Very clever Idea.

I recommend you set aside an hour or so to browse the shelves for Xmas presents as there are some great ideas available
