I’ve always thought of shorts as something I had to wear for certain activities—but if you look at them as part of an outfit you’ll find they give you a chic and casual look.

The key to making shorts look great is to have fun. Stop wearing your tired old t-shirt with a boring pair of shorts! Instead make a statement in shorts!

Color is everywhere for spring. Especially shorts. I recently purchases a pair in orange and turquoise. Pair your favorite shorts with a fun top—NOT a boring ratty t-shirt!

Here are some examples from my own wardrobe to inspire you.

	I currently have a SERIOUS stripes obsession. I love black and white stripes paired with any color. Why? Black and white are both neutrals which means they go with any color in the rainbow. Together, even as a pattern, they are still a neutral.
This is a great way to pair shorts with a t-shirt or tank. Choose one that has visual interest or embellishment to give your outfit a chic and put together look.
	Even though an animal print may seem daring or wild it’s an easy piece to pair with many things. All the colors in the pattern are neutrals. So, you’ll remember from above that means its okay to pair this printed shirt with a fun color like orange.
You can even use shorts to help you participate in your favorite trend. This tribal inspired look is easy to pull off with casual shorts and a snakeskin wedge.

Shoes can make or break your outfit so make sure you’ve got ones that look and feel great! My career began working for an equestrian footwear company. As a rider it was a dream job until I realized how difficult it was to make my favorite outfit look cute when I had to wear very specific shoes. So, I’m familiar with getting dressed and then having your shoes kill an outfit. However, unless it’s a job requirement to wear specific shoes there’s no excuse not to have shoes that look and feel great.

Can you have comfort and fashion? YES! In fact, you should accept nothing less. It’s as simple as knowing what brands to buy.

Ok, I’m calling it. It’s springtime. I realize the official start of Spring isn’t until Tuesday but why not start having fun with your Spring wardrobe today.

Spring is one of my favorite fashion seasons because there are so many clothing items that can instantly jazz up a wardrobe.  One super easy way to add pizzazz to your style is with COLOR! Even if temperatures don’t feel like Spring, adding fun spring color to your style is a great way to transition out of winter.

Orange is everywhere this season however it can be intimidating to wear if you don’t feel like it’s your color. But the truth is…anyone can wear orange!

	Try an orange handbag. Orange is considered a pseudo-neutral color which means it can go with practically anything. Remember how much of a pain it is to change your brown bag when you’re wearing all black? An orange bag can be worn with almost anything (except maybe all orange!) and is a fun pop of color for Spring.
	Step into an orange shoe. Make your favorite dress pop with a fun colored shoe. It’s a great way to breathe life into an old standby dress. Or take your favorite suit from work to cocktails just by switching out your shoe!
	Wear orange in a print. One easy way to play with hot colors of the season is with a print. If you’re nervous to do orange head to toe this is a great way to wear it without feeling like a pumpkin.

Here’s to great style at work!

Last Saturday I was ecstatic to finally have time to edit my own closet. I gave away two bags of clothes that no longer worked for me. It wasn’t because they were out of style or didn’t fit; they just no longer helped me create the style I want.

I share this with you because sometimes the thought of going through your closet and getting rid of things causes feelings of guilt and overwhelm. There’s no shame or wastefulness in getting rid of clothing that isn’t currently serving you. You can donate or even consign your clothes and let someone else enjoy what no longer works for you.

Spring is around the corner and it’s a great time to reflect on whether or not the clothes in your closet are the ones for you. It’s actually a very easy process. All you need to know are the four closet edit questions.

The FOUR Closet Edit Questions

These four simple questions make going through your closet a simple and easy process. The key is to be honest and disciplined about what you want. Hold up an item in your closet and ask yourself the following questions:

1. Do I LOVE it?
   
2. Is it flattering?
   
3. Does it help me achieve the style I want?
   
4. Have I worn it recently?

If you don’t answer “YES!” for each question you know that particular item isn’t working for you. Consider donating it, consigning it, or working with a stylist to find out to make an item something you love to wear.

This wardrobe quandary led me to wonder if “Mom” jeans really are a necessary evil?

“Mom” jeans have a terrible stereotype. Think old school light wash. Definitely tapered. And your belly button hasn’t seen the light of day in years. It’s not good!

The trick to a stylish “Mom” jean is considering how low your jeans sit in the back. Otherwise you spend an afternoon at the park hiking up your pants to avoid plumbers butt. Rid that annoying fashion faux pas with some of these great stylish “Mom” jean options.
