Twice In A Week

Twice this week I have had to shoe-box a mouse and let it go outside. Twice this week, my cat, Spooky, has caught said mouse prior to my boxing it up and letting it go outside. :/ I knew we had a mouse or two, but sheesh! He caught the first one last night and this morning I could hear another one scrabbling around. I just didn’t think Spooky would catch the second mouse so fast!

You’d think the second mouse would have learned from the disappearance of the first mouse – but apparently he/she didn’t. LOL In any case, I’m glad both mice are out of the house and away from here. I’m not afraid of mice I just don’t particularly care for having them in the house!

A Novel Idea

A few days ago I was trolling through the various craft blogs that I read and I saw someone who had done something that I thought was just brilliant. They had taken a storage shed, probably something like those Duramax Vinyl Storage Sheds, and had turned it into a craft room! They had a little sewing machine, little shelves to keep their stuff on…it was brilliant!

I looked at that little shed turned craft room and wished, not for the first time, that I could do something like that here! It would be so wonderful to have a little space that was all my own – just to do my crafts in! Even if I shared the space with BFL and her mom (both are crafters as well) it would still be nice to be able to do my work away from the pets!

What A Gorgeous Park

In the Morningside section of Sioux City, IA, there is a private park called Latham Park. I say private because it is not owned by the city. It is actually a privately owned park – and it is just beautiful. When I lived in Morningside I would walk down there to the park and just gaze at it.

The park has gorgeous rose bushes, a fountain, oh it’s so hard to describe and I couldn’t find any decent pictures of the park to save my life. But it is truly a wonderful park – and unfortunately, because they are a private park, they rely on donations and fundraisers to be able to keep the park up and running.

It has been a long time since I’ve been to Latham Park, and I’m hoping that I can go there soon.

When Electronics Go Wonky

BFL and I have the same type of ipods. We both have the 2nd generation shuffles. You know, the cute ones that came in all the funky colors? She has a pink one and I have an orange one. We love our iPods, and embarrassing as it is to say, we take them to church with us to listen to when we’re waiting for services to start because we’ve loaded them with Christian music.

In any case, a few days ago BFL was getting ready to, as I put it, “dump and reload” her iPod with some new songs. She plugged the iPod dock cord into her computer, then attached the iPod to the dock. Nothing happened. She took the iPod off the dock and re-seated it. Still nothing. She changed which USB port the iPod dock was plugged into. Nothing.

Finally I handed her my dock. She plugged it in, attached the iPod and it worked perfectly. I tried her cord with my iPod and got the same thing she did. Her iPod is 2 years newer than mine yet her dock doesn’t work anymore. What the heck?? LOL Don’t you just love it when electronic gadgets go wonky?

I Think I Have Too Many Blogs

I am seriously beginning to think I have too many blogs. I mean, really have too many blogs. As in I have blogs everywhere. I have a LiveJournal, I have a Blogger, I have a TypePad, I have a Posterous, I have a Tumblr, I have WordPress.com blogs, I have self-hosted WordPress blogs. I even have a blog at Webs.com that’s attached to my business page there. I have a lot of blogs.

I have blogs about NASCAR, blogs about crafts, blogs about my business, blogs that are personals. I have blogs that are blogging and tech related. I just plain have BLOGS. The saddest part? Half of them don’t get the attention they deserve. This one and Gothic Peach get the majority of the attention. I need to change that, but I’m not quite sure how to do so. A friend of mine suggested making a blogging schedule – as in making a list of all my blogs and then scheduling what days I would blog at those blogs – and just bang out several posts at once but set them to post at different times. I suppose I could try doing that, but I’m really hoping not to have to do that you know?

If you have multiple blogs, how do you handle them all?

Thinking of A Hire Me Page

Having run my friend Annie’s wrestling column blog for more years than I can think of at the moment, and having made two themes for my friend Amy’s blog so far, I am seriously beginning to wonder if I should create a “hire me” page. Nothing fancy – I mean nothing that would keep me in enough money to pay life insurance premiums (although I don’t see the point in getting life insurance for me, I really and truly don’t have anyone to give the money to) – but you know, just to make a bit of extra cash once in a while.

The things I usually do with WordPress for others are things like installation and upgrades, plug-in installation and upgrades, and theme design and installation. I know that some of it is basic stuff that anyone could do to be honest, but some people just don’t like to mess with it. And that’s fine! Not everyone likes to deal with that stuff and that’s ok by me. I like to play around with WordPress and themes so it’s a good fit for me.

I just don’t know how to put together a hire me page, so I’m going to take a look at a couple of people I know who have them on their blogs and just see the type of format they use, then I’ll figure out what I want to do from there.

Weeks 1-4 Are Going To Stink

Although it may surprise people, I am starting to get into football (American) now. I’ve always claimed a favorite team – although over the years it’s changed a few times – but my team is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Yes, the ones with the infamous Ben Roethlisberger (whose name I can never seem to spell correctly). That’s why weeks 1-4 of the regular season are going to stink so badly. While Big Ben is on suspension, and Leftwich is out with his injury I can’t see my Steelers having a chance in H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks of winning. I’m hoping they can pull it off but without either of the QBs that seem to work for them, I’m just not seeing it happening.

On a brighter note, it seems that at least in preseason BFL’s Rams are doing better than they did last year. Of course, preseason really doesn’t mean crap, so we’ll see what really happens out there when the regular season starts next weekend. If you’ve got a team, how do you think they’ll do??

Go Colts…. Seriously, I am for the Colts in the Super Bowl...

Yeah Right….

Have you all seen that new commercial by Pizza Hut? It has a basketball team that talks about getting the limited-time only Big Italy pizza and the team not being able to knock that whole pizza back. Really? That’s funny because we bought one tonight and there were only 3 of us and we ate the whole thing. Yes, you read that right. We ate the whole thing.

The WHOLE pizza. That pizza isn’t that big, we’ve ordered 2 larges and had them take up more space on the table than that pizza did. I mean, really, I swear I’ve seen Marc Jacobs handbags that are bigger than that pizza is. I just can’t believe that Pizza Hut advertises that pizza as being such a huge pizza or such a big deal – because really, it isn’t.

Sorry Pizza Hut – the pizza was good – but it’s not even close to being as big as you guys swear it is.

Busy Days Drive Me Nuts

I will have to admit, I am not one who likes to be a busy busy bee. I prefer to have a more or less laid back day. I don’t mind having things to do, I just hate to have to run around like a chicken without a head all day long. Unfortunately, tomorrow is one of those days where I have more to do than I care to.

Let’s see here – we have to get up and go to the bank and then go check on a couple of things. Then we have to run and pay the house taxes, then pick up some yarn, get something to eat, go to church and put the songs in the computer, go to Bible study, and then finish up the bulletin. Yeah, that’s a lot to have to do.

But Friday is going to be so sweet. It’s BFL’s mom’s birthday and we’re going to Olive Garden for dinner. From what we can tell, that never ending pasta bowl is back at Olive Garden – so that’s what me and BFL are going to get. We love that thing. I love it because I can choose from at least two different alfredo sauces. BFL loves it because it’s never ending. I just can’t wait…. yum!

What Is The Big Deal

Have you ever noticed that every time you turn around, there is some article in a magazine, or story on the news or radio that tells you that a product isn’t good for you to wear/eat/use? I mean, seriously, what is up with that?

One of the most recent articles/stories I heard about was about how bad for your feet ugg boots are. Ok, I’m sorry, but I’ve had more doctors tell me to wear them for the issues with my feet and back than I have tell me not to wear them. I haven’t had a single doctor tell me that the boots are bad for my feet or back. This is precisely why I don’t always listen to these articles – because sometimes their “findings” aren’t in keeping with what I’ve been told by my doctors.

It’s just like saying that high fructose corn syrup isn’t the cause of obesity. Ok…some people see a connection between HFCS and obesity, some don’t. It doesn’t mean that it is or isn’t bad.

I’m not saying that ugg boots are bad. I’m not saying for certain that high fructose corn syrup is bad. What I’m saying is that each person needs to form their own opinions. Some people can wear ugg boots with no problems. Some can’t. Some people can eat huge amounts of any type of sugar, HFCS or regular sugar, and not gain weight, others can’t. That’s just the way it is.
