Iqbal Qasim, chief selector, has showed his reluctance to select Shoaib Akhtar. It should be very hard task for Shoaib to get a place in the team through wild card. According to a statement given by Iqbal Qasim, it is clear that he will have to follow a strict process of getting chance from the pre-announced side. However, there is still an opportunity for Shoaib Akhtar because he has not completely ruled out. He even did not get chance in the 30-man preliminary squad of Pakistan team. He last played against Australia in UAE. It seems that Mohammad Asif will be considered for the national team despite his fault.

Related article:
cricket team developing their batmen’s performance? Yes, it could be Javed Miandad. This former captain has been appointed as the batting consultant of Pakistan team. PCB bounded to take this decision after national team’s disastrous performance in a tour series against Sri Lanka. They lost all of the series but they end the tour with a victory in the only T20 match. Now, they will hop to show their better performance in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. It can be possible under the consultancy of Javed Miandad. Struggling batsmen could seek help to him and find out their problems.

Javed Miandad was a successful batsman and captain. Now, let us see how he can help the players with his idea.

Related article:

Sports News

When Andrew Caddick will take retirement?

Do you know Andrew Caddick? He is the former Somerset and England fast bowler. Now, this veteran player will take retirement from cricket at the end of the season. This 40-year-old player made his debut for Somerset 18 years ago. He played 62 Test matches and 54 one-day internationals. He has taken 234 wickets at an average of 29.91. He also claimed 69 wickets in ODI cricket. He is eight in the list of all time England Test wicket-takers. However, in his long career he made many records in first class cricket. He became one of the six current players to take 1000 first class wickets in 2005.

I think Andrew Caddick has taken good decision at the right time. It is true he has become aged and after few years he will not be able to play cricket anymore because cricketers need much strength and energy. Now, we have to wait to see when he will announce his retirement.

Related article:

BBC

ICC Champions Trophy 2009 will be launched soon

ICC Champions Trophy 2009 is scheduled to start from 22nd September and this mini world cup will continue till 5th October. ICC Champions Trophy has been shifted from Pakistan to South African thinking that it will be a safest place to arrange this tournament. It has great expectation to the cricket fans. Meanwhile, New Zealand national team will visit Sri Lanka for a bilateral series with the home side, before a tri-nation series involving India. So, New Zealand cricket team will have a lot of actions before the ICC Champions Trophy 2009.
team made their come back in the main squad from rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL). They are Shane Bond and Daryl Tuffey. These two players have been selected in the preliminary squad of New Zealand team which has been announced ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. ICC Champions Trophy will take place in South Africa this year. New Zealand selectors have announced a 30-man squad for this second biggest and prestigious tournament. New Zealand cricket board recalled them after these two players snapped their tie with rebel ICL. You will be amazed to hear that these two have been drafted for the Twenty20 squad which was announced for Sri Lanka tour. Now, their inclusion will increase New Zealand’s strength.

Related article:

PTI

Andrew Flintoff is Trying Hard to Stay Fit

English all rounder Andrew Flintoff is using NASA technology to keep himself fit to play the rest of the Ashes series. You may have heard that he is using machine in his knee to maintain his fitness. This 31-year-old player wrapped his right knee to ease the discomfort which he experienced before. He is expecting his comeback in the Ashes series. You also know that he was the member of the winning team in which England cricket team won the 2005 Ashes series. Flintoff played the second test match which one England won by 115 runs and taka a 1-0 lead of the series. He claimed five wickets. It is important to understand how important he is.

Australian skipper Ricky Ponting is waiting to make new record. His record will help him to overtake Allan Border. Then he will be the leading run scorer in Australia.
and Wales Cricket Board have announced a 30-man preliminary squad ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy including injured player Kevin Pietersen. This potential English batsman has fallen into injury during the Ashes series and has been ruled out of the squad. He is now suffering by his Achilles tendon injury. He will soon go under surgery and it will take 6 weeks to be repaired. It is expected that we can see him to play in the Champions Trophy for England team. England team will be guided by Andrew Strauss. You should know that all rounder Andrew Flintoff will also take from Test cricket after the end of final test against Australia next month. Geoff Miller expressed his thought in a statement that Champions Trophy has made an opportunity for England cricket team to compete for a global trophy.

The 29-year-old Michael Lumb is the only uncapped player in the preliminary squad. Except him everyone has experienced to play for England national side. This time England team is much stronger and experienced than past. So, we could expect that they will perform well. However, this preliminary squad will be reduced to 15 by August 23. ICC Champions Trophy will start from 22nd September to 5 October.

Related Article:

The New York Times

English all rounder Andrew Flintoff inspiring his team-mates to be ruthless against Australia

One of the exciting cricket series, Ashes, between England and Australia is going to start from tomorrow at Cardiff. England cricket team is hoping to reclaim the Ashes trophy. To do it, they have to be ruthless as like Australian. English all rounder Andrew Flintoff understands the importance of being ruthless. That is why, he asks his team-mates to be brutal if they want to snatch the Ashes trophy from Australia. He also asks his team-mates to put pressure over the opponent teams.

Andrew Flintoff is just 31-year-old player. He was out of twenty20 world cup 2009 due to his injury. Now, this best all rounder is fully fit to play for England. Australian cricket team is not in their prime form. So, England can hope to win the Ashes. England got Ashes trophy in 2005 under the captaincy of Michael Vaughan. However, Michael Vaughan is out of Test cricket due to his injury. He has taken retirement from all forms of cricket game. Let us see how England team can perform without him.

Related Article:

guardian.co.uk

Rahul Dravid has been selected in the preliminary squad

Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid has been selected in the preliminary squad for the Champions Trophy. Champions Trophy will start in September in South Africa this year. It is expected that senior batsmen will make their return with this tournament. Rahul Dravid was out of international cricket for long time. We last saw him playing cricket in 2007. However, after that we didn’t see him in any format of cricket in a regular basis. Sachin Tendulkar will also make his return in this tournament. He opted his name from ODI squad to play against West Indies. Virender Sehwag has been recovered from shoulder injury. Due to his injury, he could not play the last month’s ICC T20 World Cup 2009.
Indian Squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Abhishek Nayar, Ishant Sharma, Zaheer Khan, Rudra Pratap Singh, Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Ravindra Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik, Munaf Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Murali Vijay, Amit Mishra, Ajinkya Rahane, Dhawal Kulkarni, Subramaniam Badrinath, Ashish Nehra, Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Wriddhiman Saha, Pankaj Singh.
Related Article:
REUTES

India has taken a 2-1 lead over West Indies

India has won the third ODI match against West Indies by 6 wickets which was played at the Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia. Skipper MS Dhoni led his team in a rain curtailed game. Winning the match, India took a 2-1 lead of this four-match ODI series. To ensure their first ODI series victory in Caribbean ground, they will have to win one more game.
India won the toss and elected to field first. After being invited to bat first, West Indies scored 186 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. It is sure that three top order batsmen ensured India’s victory. It was not an easy chase because India got victory in the last over. When India came to bat then rain started again and the match was reduced to 22 overs. Both Dinesh Karthik and Gautam Gambhir respectively scored 47 and 44 runs. MS Dhoni remained not out 46 off 34 balls. In his innings, he hit two boundaries and a six.
Now, West Indies will look for the final ODI match to make the series equal. Let us see if MS Dhoni’s fatigue India can snatch the title or not.

Ricky Ponting is upset for Michael Vaughan’s retirement

The retirement news of former England captain Michael Vaughan has shocked the cricket fans. It seems that they could not take it easily. Yes, it was really unexpected not only to the English cricket members but also to the cricket fans. Ricky Ponting, the opposite team’s captain in Ashes series, has been shocked also when he heard this news. He was the winning captain of 2005 Ashes Series. The 34-year-old Michael Vaughan was an exceptionally skilled and talented. He could have continued his career for long time. His absence is a big loss for England team. Who do you think can replace his position? He has been selected in the list of contracted players and was supposed to play in the Ashes series but his knee-injury forced him taking such kind of pathetic decision. He thinks that some promising new comer will get chance to show their ability and talent in his place. Ravi Bopara can be the most probable player who can replace him in Ashes Test series.

Related Article:

AFP

Michael Vaughan has opted his name from Ashes 2009

Cricket world will always remember former English captain Michael Vaughan because under his successful guidance in 2005 Ashes series. Under his captaincy, England got the Ashes trophy. If you are the fan of England team or citizen of European city then this day will be memorable in your mind all the time. England bet Australia by 2-1. However, Ashes series will start from 8th July and continue till September 20. Both teams will play 5th Test matches following 7-ODIs.

It is unthinkable that English cricket team will be without their most successful Test captain Michael Vaughan. This veteran player will take retirement from all international crickets. He is now 34-year-old player. He has become aged and it is the perfect time to take retirement. His right-knee makes some trouble and he can not field all day. That is why, he has taken decision not to block the place which could be replaced by promising new comer. He has opted his name from 16-man test squad. We didn’t see Michael Vaughan to play any cricket after he resigned from captaincy in last August. He was supposed to see in England cricket team this summer where he would face Australian regaining the Ashes.

Related Article:

Telegraph.co.uk

India vs West Indies 1st ODI 2009: India has been installed as the favorite team to win the opening match

Indian cricket team is going to face host West Indies team to play their first ODI match of the four-match ODI series which will kick off from 26th June, 2009. This ODI series has great importance to the Indian players. This ODI series will not only give them chance to take revenge for their defeat in T20 tournament but also can put them in the top list of ICC ODI rankings. However, if we look India’s past history in Caribbean ground then we can find the truth is that they are always helpless in this seam condition. In their past ODI series they were being beaten by 4-1 margin. But when you heard that bookmakers have installed India as the favorite team to win the opening match then you will be surprised. Do you think it is possible? I am confusion about it. They will take on the field without some key players. Injury problem has created some pressure over captain MS Dhoni. Will he be able to handle this pressure easily? You will get this answer today when you will see the game live on Ten Sports channel.
Related Article:
BETUS

India vs West Indies 1st ODI 2009: Weak India can make any new record?

Indian cricket team is going to face West Indies tomorrow to play their first ODI match at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica. India will be eyeing to take a revenge for their defeat in ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2009. Their recent squad is considered as fatigue and weak squad than any of their previous squad. But West Indies captain Chris Gayle is concern about this squad because of India’s good performance in last few months. This team has chance to move in the top position of ICC ODI rankings if they can beat West Indies. However, India could not show any good form in Caribbean venue. Some key players will not be seen in this tournament. It seems that swine flu has become the big threat for both teams’ players. I think it is the best time for India team to make a new record in Caribbean field. India has very good one-day side. This team got many wins both in home and abroad under the guidance of MS Dhoni.

Ramnaresh Sarwan said that the lack of Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan will help them to make strong protest against buoyant Indian cricket team. India’s last tour of West Indies was three years ago in 2006 where tourist team was being beaten by 4-1 at the hand of host team.

No doubt, West Indies team could perform well in the shortest version of cricket game. They moved to the semi-final round where they faced Sri Lanka and being beaten by them. You should know that ODI is different kind of game. So, let us see how West Indies team can perform in their home ground.

Do you think Indian batsmen can play well in seam condition? It always seems a big problem for India team when they tour any country. Time will say the answer. This match will start at 26th June which will kick off at 14:30 GMT (9:30 Local).

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka T20 Match: Who will be the next champion team of ICC T20 World Cup 2009

<o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="country-region"></o:smarttagtype><o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="place"></o:smarttagtype>
Two South Asian teams Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play against each other in the final round of ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2009. Now, millions of fans are eagerly waiting to see the new champion team of the second edition of this tournament. Just after long time, these two South Asian countries will face each other to play a shortest version of cricket game. So, fans around the world will be watching this game live to see who the strongest Asian team is.

Pakistan secured their place in the final round after beating South Africa by 7 runs. On the other hand, Sri Lanka team remains unbeaten of this tournament so far after clinching a victory against West Indies by 57 runs.

Sri Lanka is waiting to take revenge over Pakistan team. You should know that Sri Lankan cricket team was being attacked by militants when they went to Pakistan to play a series. Seven Sri Lankan players had been injured. Now, Sri Lankan team will find ways to give answer for this kind of rude behave.

Sri Lanka is the most probable team to have won this trophy. However, Pakistan also proves that they can come back from any situation. No doubt, it is going to be a closely contested match between them. Let us see who can win this match.

Related Article:

AFP

India has been eliminated from ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2009

The most shocking news is that England’s victory over India threw crushed out the defending champion team from ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2009. They were being beaten by England by three runs. However, they will face South Africa at Nottingham today. However, after today’s match we can see Indian players as spectators. Some says that IPL had potential role behind India’s defeat. Yes, I also support this. Players can feel tired and bore after playing non-stop cricket.
Winning the toss, England elected to bat first and scored 153 for the loss of 7 wickets. After coming to England’s chasing score, India could manage only 150 for 5. They were four runs short from victory. Indian bowlers said that it was batsmen’s failure to manage a victory which could remain India’s hope to play in semi-final.
However, it was England’s first victory in Super Eight round.
Related Article:
Bloomberg.com

Can England avoid their elimination?

After being beaten by South Africa in Super Eight round, host team England has raised a question about their existence to play more in Twenty20 World Cup 2009. If they failed to get a victory then England will be the first team to have eliminated from Twenty20 World Cup. No doubt, it is a great shame as a host team. England will face India in their second match in Super Eight round. It is an important match for both India and England team. The upsetting news is that India lost their first T20 match to West Indies. No doubt, it will be a tough game for both of them. Neither India nor England want to miss a chance to snatch the victory. It is the time to see if England can avoid their elimination from second round.

<span style="font-size: 12pt; The match will take place at the Kennington Oval, London on 13 June. Pakistan did not have a good start to the Super Eight mission, while New Zealand got off to an excellent start in their last eight campaign. Naturally, Pakistan is now under huge pressure ahead of the match against New Zealand. They are now desperate to win the game in what would keep their semi final hopes alive, whereas New Zealand will be looking to continue their winning momentum.

BBC reported:

Younus said indiscipline had cost Pakistan dearly.

"We had a couple of early no-balls and you can't do that in this sort of cricket," he said.

"You then get a free hit and four runs so it's not very good - we had 20 extras today and we lost by 19 runs so it shows how crucial it is in this form of cricket."

Well, I do not think that Pakistan lost the match only because of giving too many extra runs. No doubt, it was one of the reasons, but I think, their batting was mostly responsible for their 19-run defeat. Pakistan was chasing just 151 runs which, I think, was very much achievable. If Pakistan thinks that they would always be able to restrict the opposition under 150, then it would be a big mistake for the Pakistan side. If Pakistan wants to go anywhere close to their success in the inaugural tournament, they must need to feel confident in chasing targets around 150.

Pakistan has a number of good batsmen in Younis Khan, Kamran Akmal, Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik, Misbah-ul-Haq and Shahid Afridi. Fawad Alam played against Sri Lanka, even though he could make any impact on the game. I think, Pakistan would play all rounder Abdul Razzaq to boost up their batting line up. In that case, I think, Fawad or Sohail Tanvir could make way for Razzaq.

New Zealand has been in excellent form of recent as they defeated Ireland by 83 runs in the first game. However, they have some injury concerns. First of all, opener Jesse Ryder has been ruled out of the tournament as he has been suffering from a virus. Captain Daniel Vettori has not played any game in the tournament, while Ross Taylor is now struggling with hamstring injury. Naturally, New Zealand squad might have lost some strength and this is really a big blow for the Kiwis.

However, they have some excellent players like stand-in captain Brendon McCullum, Jacob Oram, Scott Styris etc. New Zealand got an excellent opener in Aaron Redmond who blasted a 30-ball 63 with 13 boundaries against Ireland in their first match of Super Eight.

Online Live Score and Updates

You can get the live score and updates of the match between Pakistan and New Zealand from several cricket websites like Cricinfo, Cricbuzz, Cricket Next etc.

Well, both teams have equal chances to win the game, but given Razzaq’s inclusion in the final eleven, I think, Pakistan might have a slight edge over the Kiwis who are missing some of the key members due to injury.

Andrew Symonds will be eliminated from Cricket Australia?

It seems that Australian all rounder Andrew Symonds has chosen his own fate. Recently, this 34-year-old player has been withdrawn from central contract offer. This decision has come after he was sent home from Twenty20 World Cup for disciplinary reasons. He had been taken in Australia squad as the replacement of Shaun Tait for 2009-10 in the contracted players list. He had been suspected after going to a nearer bar to celebrate Queensland's win in the rugby league State-of-Origin series opener. It is heard that he did not inform anything to manager about it. It was not new for Symonds. I think Symonds will think about his stupid behave. You should know that he has already earned bad boy title. Now, if he continues breaching conduct then Australian cricket board should bound to eliminate him for ever.
Andrew Symonds is a veteran player. He will be followed by more fans. So, I would like to suggest him not to do any work that creates any bad picture in the mind of fans. It is also true that Australian selectors will have to find more to get someone who can replace this position. We can see Shaun Tait to hold this position which he was supposed to take.
Related Article:
BBC SPORT

England Facing South Africa in Super Eight of Twenty20 World Cup 2009

<o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="country-region"></o:smarttagtype><o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="place"></o:smarttagtype>
England and South Africa are going to face each other in their first match of Super Eight stage in Twenty20 world cup 2009 tomorrow (11 June 2009). England could manage to reach the last eight of the tournament after defeating Pakistan, despite suffering a shocking defeat at the hands of Netherlands. In fact, England finished atop the table in Group B.

On the other hand, South Africa did not face any problem in reaching Super Eight round. In fact, they stormed into the last eight, having won both of their games. South Africa showed their confidence and never-give-up mentality when they defeated New Zealand by 1 run, even after throwing a small target for New Zealand. So, South Africa should be full of confident ahead of the match.

South Africa’s performance has been pretty much satisfactory over the last few series and they are now posing a huge threat to Australia’s long-standing dominance in world cricket. Naturally, Graeme Smith’s team is now gearing up to win their first major cricket trophy in the tournament. So, it is pretty much understandable that South Africa would like to start their Super Eight round with a victory.

England will also have the same intention as they have not won any world cup trophy of cricket yet. This is really a void that many English fans are looking to stop right now. Well, England’s performance over the last one year was not very impressive. England has gone through many ups and downs including a coach-captain saga. However, England cricketers will definitely give their best now to win the title of the tournament in front of their own crowd. So, we can expect an interesting match between South Africa and England in the Super Eight.

India vs Ireland T20 Match 2009: Who will win?

Two brothers Niall and Kevin O'Brien will get much focus against India in a final T20 match at group stage. You should know that these two brothers are called the savior of Ireland team. Their performance led the minnow Ireland team to get an upset win over Bangladesh. Both India and Ireland will face each other at Nottingham. You already know that the match has become the highest bidding game to the fans.

Both teams have ensured their position in Super Eight round. No doubt, they will try to focus their will to be a group champion team. It could be happen if these two brothers can show their best game. Indian captain MS Dhoni said that his team will not take Ireland team lightly. Anything can happen in this game. Let us see what is waiting in the fate of India team.

Related Article:

Mirror.co.uk

Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan will not play the first T20 game

Indian Skipper MS Dhoni is worried about the injury problems of hard-hitting batsman Virender Sehwag and pace bowler Zaheer Khan. These two are key players of Indian cricket team. No doubt, their absence in the main squad will put the captain under depression. However, Indian selectors will have to find out someone to replaces these void positions. However, Rohit Sharma may be the best replacement of Sehwag in the opening stand whereas Praveen Kumar will replace Zaheer Khan. You already know that India is going to face Bangladesh on 6th June in group stage. Let us see how India team overcomes their lack in the main squad.

ICL will survive long time?

It seems that Indian Cricket League (ICL) is passing tough time. This unsanctioned rebel league is struggling to survive their existence. However, they are vowing to make strong come back and carry on this league despite any problem. You should know that BCCI told that they will not leave any stone unturned to make ICL unpopular. To make their demand fulfill, BCCI has started lifting ban over ICL players. They have already lifted ban over 79 players. In some media coverage, I have heard that some players are reluctance to join American Premier League (APL).

ICL members are not worried about it. They have only 40 or 50 players in their last. They may include more players and it should not be tough work for them. ICL was two years old baby in cricket world. Some famous people joined this tournament. Let us see how they can face this tough situation.

Related Article:

BBC CRICKET

Daniel Vettori will play major role for New Zealand in T20 World Cup?

<o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="country-region"></o:smarttagtype><o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="place"></o:smarttagtype>
Daniel Vettori is the captain of New Zealand team. This left-hander orthodox bowler has essential role in New Zealand team. He hopes that he can play an effective role for his own team in the upcoming ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2009. He is the only experienced and dependable bowler of Kiwi team in all forms of cricket. Twenty20 is a cricket where slow bowlers can check runs and take wickets.

New Zealand is a less strong than its previous T20 world cup team. Some players have taken retirement and some joined in the rebel ICL. Daniel Vettori will lead a bunch of young players.

You should know that this time it will be played in England. Venues of England are not helpful for spinners. So, Vettori should struggle hard to play well and put some pressure over the opposite team.
