A reminder that our November PTO meeting is one of two nightly meetings.

The meeting starts at 7:00 in the Central Library. Babysitting is not provided for evening meetings.

Our agenda includes:

District 96 Superintend Dr. Jon Lamberson and his amazing flaming power point presentation on district rankings, expenditures and enrollment.

Mrs. Meg O’Brien speaking about our new writing program, Regie Routman.

The PTO’s lack of successful fund raising and the budget implications of such a situation.

If a committee chair would like to be on the agenda, please e-mail Allyn Pilewski.

We hope all can make the time to attend this meeting.

Flexible Boundary Committee

Our District 96 Board of Education is convening a committee to

Understand and clarify the original purpose of the Flexible Boundary Plan.
Evaluate the Policy against its own stated priorities.
Evaluate the success of the Policy in terms of equity of class size across buildings and efficiency of building use.
Compare long-term numbers to program expectations.
Recommend solutions and modifications to the Policy, if necessary.

Central is encouraged and welcome to send members to this working committee. The first meeting is November 12th at 7:00 in the Hauser library.

Subsequent meetings will be scheduled to accommodate parents, staff and community members.

This will be an important discussion of this key district policy. Please try to attend.

Innisbrook Winners

HUGE Thanks to all who ordered this year from Innisbrook Gifts and Gift Wrap. We raised approx. $4,300.00 which will be put to use immediately to fund many PTO sponsored events and programs. While we fell significantly short of our goals, we are very grateful for your
contributions and continued support.

Now the FUN part!

We would like to announce the winners!

The top selling class and the winners of a Pizza party is Mrs. Ross’ Kindergarten class raising over $800.00! That’s right….the brand new to Central Kindergarten Class pulled together and rose to the top. Great job Kindergartners!

There are 2 winners this year in the Teacher raffle and those winners are Gail Bieschke and Sue Sherman! Thanks for contributing to the T in PTO!

37 Kids ordered 10 items or more and will receive a cute plush key chain to adorn their backpacks!

And the top seller is a 1st grader from Mrs. Scaggs class, G. Castel. He wins a $50.00 gift certificate from the Brookfield Zoo!
Way to go!

Orders will arrive in the 2 weeks so stay tuned for pick-up info.

Original Art will be available for pick up at the same time so you don’t have to come twice.

Bright and early Monday morning 11/2 the directories that were pre-ordered and pre-paided for were placed in your teacher’s mailboxes. By Tuesday your teacher would probably have given them to your child.

Additional directories are on sale in the office for $5.00.

If you feel that you pre-paid for a directory and didn’t receive, please confirm that your teacher handed out the directories and the directory is not lurking in your child’s cubby or backpack. If it is still missing, please contact Jeanine Vaia.

Candy for the Troops

Central School is collecting Halloween Candy for our Troops. If your child is overwhelmed with candy, please consider donating any extra candy to our Troops overseas. All candy collected will be given to the troops through the Yellow Ribbon Group.

From Tuesday 11/3 to Friday 11/ 6 there will a collection box outside the Central School office.

Fundraising Update

Our Fall Fund raising Drives are completed. A heartfelt thanks to all who contributed.

We raised over $11,000. While we are grateful for all who supported our endeavors, we are $5000 less than we budgeted. Like all of us are doing during these difficult times, the PTO board is having to review our 2009 – 2010 plans.

If you planned on supporting the PTO this year

but you missed the Innisbrook fundraiser
but you missed the Original Works fundraiser,
you can still support our endeavors through the 100% club.

100% means that 100% of your tax-deductible contribution goes to
PTO programming for your child.

What your child receives from the PTO is:

field trips,
programs for our school,
two wild and carefree Family Fun nights,
an over-the-top Book fair,
an all-you-can-eat Ice Cream social ,
a lunch book club,
monthly Cultural Arts presentations
and many other extras for your child.

We are hoping for 100% participation in at least one of fundraisers.

If you have supported our fundraising efforts this year, we are extremely grateful.

But if you haven’t had a moment to do so.… any check, cash, money order you can contribute is very much appreciated.

Our PTO collects Box Tops from various products and redeems them for cash and other supplies. Many of our P.E. and recess supplies come from these programs.

The collection boxes are located outside the Central office.
