Today we’re going to be spotlighting 3 bands that will be performing this year on our Shock Top Rock Stage on Friday night, June 9th.

Our first spotlight song is “Waiting” by Brighter the Moon.

Brighter the Moon is a past performer at Celebrate Fairfax! and we are beyond excited to have them return.  They will be performing on Shock Top Rock at 7:15 PM.

Our spotlight song from Wild Planes is “Time is on The Run!”

Wild Planes is a first time performer at this year’s Festival and we cannot wait to see them perform on Friday night. Wild Planes will be performing at 8:30 PM.

Our last spotlight song today is “Cradle” by His Dream of Lions.

His Dream of Lions performed last year the the Festival and will be performing this year following Sub-Radio on Shock Top Rock at 11:00 PM.

Sub-Radio has played at our festival multiple times and we are happy to have them back for the 2017 Festival! They originated in Sterling, VA and have been gaining well-deserved recognition throughout the DMV and East Coast. This six piece pop-rock band’s eccentric sound will make you get up and move your feet.

Recently, a few of us over here at Celebrate Fairfax had the opportunity to go see them live at Sauf-Haus in D.C which was amazing!

Sub-Radio Interview

 Because the guys of Sub-Radio are so cool, they let us interview them before their set. Due to some technical difficulties, we weren’t able to record it but it was still great nonetheless. So let’s kick it off! Our first question was:

How did you meet?

The band formed organically in high school then pulled some others in while they would practice in basements.

Biggest inspiration?

We didn’t really specify whether this answer had to be musically or just in general so the answers varied based off each member. Overall their inspirations were: Mike Tyson, Walk The Moon, Two Door Cinema Club, and “dance music that means something”.

If one song was the soundtrack of your life, what would it be?

Favorite Carnival ride?

They all collectively agreed that the photobooth was one of their favorite carnival attractions but the Drop Tower could be a close second.

Our last question was, how do you #Celebrate?

Which was answered by Matt, their guitarist who said that the band’s favorite way to #celebrate was by watching Netflix with his pets.

Sub-Radio was formed in 2011 and has continued to grow throughout the years. They recently performed at Sauf-Haus in D.C. and are a former performer at Celebrate Fairfax Festival. This year they will be playing Friday night on Shock Top Rock Stage at 9:45 PM!

The historic site will spotlight over 45 craft brews from Northern Virginia and throughout the Commonwealth. Additional craft brews from the region, including DC, Maryland, and West Virginia will also be selected for the event.

Among all of the craft beers will be craft beer-focused exhibits, gourmet food trucks, workshops and interactive displays. Volunteers come and join us in celebrating the 35th Annual Celebrate Fairfax! Festival held on June 10th-12th, 2016 at the Fairfax County Government Center. Volunteers are essential for the event to run smoothly, and without the help of more than 1,500 volunteers to run the gates, stages and logistical operations the event would not be possible.
