Woke up bright and early to laugh at the Derangers melting down over the Duchess of Sussex appearing on an Australian TV show. Last night, I watched as Prince Harry turned up for some solo events, and the Aussie reporters were like “where’s Meghan, what is she doing today?” As it turns out, she was probably filming her appearance on MasterChef Australia! The new season of MasterChef Australia begins this weekend, and I would guess that Meg is a guest judge at some point early in the season, in a pretaped episode. Didn’t she appear as a guest judge on various cooking shows/competitions when she lived in Canada as well? She also appeared on Chopped Junior in 2016. This is a return to what she loves. She’s such a foodie.

Let me run through the go-to complaints: why is she using her title, why isn’t she using her title, I thought she wanted privacy, she’ll ruin the hallowed space of a reality cooking competition, everyone’s going to stop watching your show now that Meghan is on it!! Someone call the waaaaaambulance!! They’re already on MasterChef’s Instagram account, bitching and moaning.

Incidentally, regarding her name, on MasterChef’s Instagram account, they refer to her as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. In the clip from the show, they say “the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.” On Tuesday, Meghan was asked how she would like to be addressed and she said “Meg.” There are currently British commentators screaming and crying over “why isn’t she using her title.” The volte-face will be extraordinary when they see the title being “used” on MasterChef.

Even the less-royalist British outlets are getting into the Sussex-bashing business this month, as it appears as if every single British journo is incandescent with rage that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are free to visit Australia and make some charitable and commercial stops. I have a small confession: now that we’ve seen some of their Australian events, I do think this looks like a “royal tour” in many ways. But I’m not mad about it – I think it’s hysterically funny, actually. Harry and Meghan went to Oz on their own dime, they’re paying for their own security and personnel, and they’re still showing that they don’t need to be attached to a royal office to have a schedule which includes “visiting a children’s hospital” and “spending time at a veterans center and a women’s shelter.” Well, the Guardian quoted an Australian “associate professor and royals researcher” at length and, shock of shocks, this woman was practically spitting with rage about the Sussexes’ Australian tour.

The professor speaks! “Back in 2018 they were newly married, newly pregnant and we were very, very excited,” Flinders University associate professor and royals researcher Giselle Bastin said. “They had a glamour attached to them … they felt like a new beginning, like the future of the Windsors. [But] there’s been so much fracture and unhappiness around the couple and their relationship with the royals … the celebrity shine has rather worn off.”

As Ever promotion!! There will be no walkabouts to meet the public because of security and cost concerns. Instead, along with the luxe wellness retreat, Meghan will be promoting As Ever, her collection of products that the website describes as “more than a brand”. “They’re not reading the room,” Bastin said. “Having to flog $3,000 tickets to a wellness retreat looks quite pointless in the current world climate. It’s tin-eared.”

The Sussexes are broke, you guys: Nine newspapers published a brutal rundown of the pair’s income stream on Monday, in a piece titled “Australia was good to Harry and Meghan. Now they want to use us as an ATM”. It noted the couple struggling to afford a 16-room, $14.65m ($21m) house in Montecito, California, while also listing their $20m ($28m) Spotify podcast deal, $20m ($28m) from Penguin Random House for Harry’s book Spare, a “substantial sum” from his father for life outside Britain, £6m ($11.4m) inherited from Diana and £8m ($15.2m) from the late Queen Mother’s estate.

The Sussexes are raising money in Australia: Bastin said they still need cash, and are using Australia to raise it. “They have an enormous output in terms of money and they don’t have as much coming in,” she said. “It’s a faux royal tour. They’re not working royals. I think they’re using Australia as an opportunity to get a sense of the mood, about how they’ll be received … to cosplay what it might be like if they once again become working royals.”

I guess the Guardian is making fun of the “broke” claims by giving their readers a partial list of all of the money Harry and Meghan have already made? Is that what’s happening there? It’s so wild to me that British and Australian outlets are so panicked that they’re now saying that the Sussexes can’t afford their 629 bathrooms in Montecito. For the last time (I hope) – I’m sure it’s costing Harry & Meghan more to make this trip than they’re making from their commercial gigs. And even if that’s not the case, literally no one is forcing Australians to buy tickets to see H&M. “The celebrity shine has rather worn off”– yeah, keep telling yourself that. William has a face like a dirty thumb and Kate is Botoxed to hell and back, and they force children to leave their schools just for royal photo-ops. Meanwhile, people are genuinely thrilled to see H&M whenever they’re out and about.

So lovely to hear from the sweet patients at the Royal Children’s Hospital who were just as excited to meet Harry & Meghan.

I’m not surprised that People Magazine’s cover story this week is about Queen Elizabeth II. Her centenary birthday is coming up soon, which is why there’s a glut of “biographies” about her. Those biographies are, by and large, actually about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, obviously. Biographers swear up and down that the dead queen hated Harry and Meghan, never wanted to speak to them alone, was irritated that they named their daughter Lilibet, and that she personally authorized Angela Kelly’s eight-years-long smear campaign on the Sussexes over a fakakta tiara. What those biographers fail to mention is that in her life, she actually seemed to stay friendly, if not close, with the Sussexes. They also don’t mention that QEII knew that Charles and William would be terrible kings and that’s why she tried to hang on for as long as possible. Well, People Mag’s cover story is partially about why QEII didn’t fix Prince Harry and Prince William’s estrangement in her final years.

The royal family is missing their matriarch, Queen Elizabeth, who died on Sept. 8, 2022, ahead of what would be her 100th birthday in late April. In this week’s PEOPLE cover story, sources address the ongoing, six-year rift between Prince Harry and Prince William — and how the late Queen Elizabeth might have offered her support behind the scenes were she still alive.

“She saw both of them, even after the estrangement,” a source close to the palace tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “She also believed that you might have views, but you don’t have sides. She knew that families are complicated.”

Ailsa Anderson, a former press secretary to the Queen, adds, “It’s very difficult. The only two people who can mend this are themselves. She could have been the convener, but they have to take the first steps.”

While the brothers’ relationship remains strained, a source also tells PEOPLE that there have been gradual efforts to repair Prince Harry’s relationship with his father, King Charles, and the two have been talking more since their reunion in September 2025.

Prince Harry, 41, and Prince William, 43, have had a fraught relationship for several years. It’s been widely reported that the brothers’ rupture began in 2016 when William expressed concerns about how quickly Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle was moving. In his memoir Spare, Harry revealed the complexities of his relationship with William, which, despite a public image of closeness, was marked by tension. Harry described William as both his “beloved brother and arch nemesis,” recounting instances of verbal and even physical altercations between them.

Tensions between the couple and the royal family continued to mount in subsequent years as Harry and Meghan, 44, moved to California in 2020, broke from the royal mandate of “never complain, never explain” and shared their grievances about royal life in various high-profile interviews, a Netflix series and Harry’s 2023 memoir.

In a new book by Russell Myers, William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story, the author claimed that William was left “absolutely seething” by what he saw as his brother’s betrayal.

“He felt betrayed by Harry to the extent that he vowed never to speak to him again,” Myers wrote. “Such was his anger that he told one of his most trusted aides that he had “absolutely no time to entertain either of them [Harry and Meghan].”

However, Myers said that it’s Kate, 44, who has been the steadying force for his husband amid the estrangement and the multitude of other stressors that come with being the future king of England. “Her attitude was consistently ‘this will pass,’ ” he wrote of the Princess of Wales. “Whenever William would get riled up about it, she would calm the situation down and bring him back to what matters most to them. That is their family and what they are doing.”

Years ago, there were a few stories which I believed about QEII. One, she had one precondition for meeting Harry and Meghan before Easter 2022 – that Harry speak to his father. And I also believe that she said something along the lines of “you know what your father is like” to Harry. QEII saw Charles’s flaws and she saw that he was (and is) a dogsh-t father, and I think she was actively trying to encourage father and son to have some kind of reconciliation, or for Charles to mimic her approach to the Sussexes. Of course, as soon as she died, Charles’s first act as king was to bitch out Harry and tell him that Meghan was banned from Balmoral, which certainly set the petty, vile tone for his reign. But my point is that I believe QEII cared more about making sure Charles and Harry spoke and had some kind of relationship, as opposed to her caring about Harry and William’s feud.

As for Harry and William’s feud, I believe Harry’s story, in Spare, where he noted that William had some kind of shrieking rage-fit during the Sandringham Summit, and his childish tantrum was witnessed by QEII. Everyone in that family, even QEII, walked on eggshells around William for a reason – he’s violently stupid and ill-equipped to handle stressful or difficult situations. Meaning, I think there’s a reason why QEII never really bothered to encourage William and Harry to reconcile. She probably thought S-P-A-C-E was the best option.

Whenever the Duke and Duchess of Sussex go anywhere or do anything, the carnival of clowns immediately melts down and throws everything against the wall to convince their readers that Harry and Meghan are flops, no one likes them, people are going to boo them, they always come in last on every popularity poll, we swear! And then Harry and Meghan show up somewhere and people love them and people get so excited to see them and it’s clear that they both have so much charisma. The royalist agitprop usually gets blown up in a matter of hours after H&M arrive. It keeps happening – think about the nonsense happening before Harry’s visit to England last September, and his trip to Ukraine. Harry’s trips were so successful, his brother basically had a nervous breakdown. The Sussexes’ visits to Colombia, Nigeria, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands and now Australia all followed this exact same pattern as well. For the Sussexes’ Oz trip, it does seem like the pattern has moved very quickly to “gosh, Britain really misses the Sussexes.” From the Telegraph’s “Harry and Meghan’s Australia tour shows what the Royal family is missing.”

There was talk of Tim Tams and koalas, large crowds, flowers and selfies. I watched as the Duchess of Sussex hugged sick children, declared a hospital garden “serene”, and was laden with handmade drawings and knitted flowers. Prince Harry, meanwhile, agonised over a clay model of a “wingless kookaburra” and joked that he might struggle to get the sweet-smelling bark of a gumtree back home through customs. In another life, this could have been their second official royal tour Down Under. Instead, here they are, described as “B-grade reality TV stars” intent on using their royal titles to make money quickly.

It was fascinating to see the polarising couple in action as they embarked on what has proved – for many – a hugely controversial four-day tour of Australia. The Duke and Duchess find themselves increasingly stuck between a rock and a hard place. Having left the UK to seek financial independence, and with no more money flowing from the King’s finances, they must find a way to pay the mortgage and those infamously hefty private security bills. But when they try to combine business deals with charitable work that resembles the very royal duties they were so desperate to leave behind, the public pushes back.

Their whistle-stop tour of Australia was preceded by a string of negative opinion pieces and editorials in the local press, describing the couple as “grifters” who were using the country “like an ATM”. Television anchors on the breakfast shows repeatedly asked whether anyone was actually interested in the visit, while politicians railed against the police resources ploughed into the visit, funded by the taxpayer.

On the ground, as is often the way with royal jobs, it was a remarkably different story. The couple arrived at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne to as big a crowd as I have ever seen on such an engagement. The young patients, staff and families clamoured to get a glimpse of the VIP visitors as they shook hands, hugged and waved their way through the corridors in the course of 45 minutes.

The women the Duchess met later in a refuge were chuffed to see her, as were the veterans they spent time with after that. The Duke was in his element: relaxed and charming. This is, of course, the job he was raised to do. The Duchess is pretty good at it too, though perhaps more noticeably aware of the cameras and the eyes on her every move.

What does Buckingham Palace make of such high-profile royal gallivanting? There will be the odd chuckle and eye roll, no doubt, but you can bet they are watching closely nonetheless.

Could the Duke and Duchess have been an asset to the Royal family? Undoubtedly, yes, as this tour so far seems to indicate. A shame, then, that they squandered so much goodwill by trashing them so destructively.

It was impossible to tell whether the crowd gathered on the street outside the veterans’ museum might be there to boo and jeer or clamour for selfies. As the doors opened and the couple came back out on to the pavement, there were only more cheers. Rather than shouting a question about the cost to the taxpayer, a local reporter simply wanted to know what message the Duke might have for veterans. So far so good. The reception on day one could not have been more positive. Does it reflect the national mood? Only time will tell.

Because one could make (and one has made) the argument that the Windsors squandered the goodwill the Sussexes would have generated when the Windsors trashed the Sussexes to the point where Harry and Meghan felt it necessary to leave that salt-and-bile environment. Who squandered what? What was the original sin of this situation?

Reflecting back on how everything changed for Harry and Meghan immediately following their last successful Australian tour, perhaps this is a moment for reflection from the left-behinds. Why did THEY f–k it all up? Just so they could have the UK all to themselves, and lazily do half-assed, poorly attended events a couple of times a month, appearances which garner none of the excitement or enjoyment on display in Australia right now? This isn’t a come-to-Jesus moment for the Sussexes, who are still thriving, popular, in-demand and hard-working. This is yet another moment when the left-behinds look like the dumbest and most racist jackasses in the world. They would rather shoot themselves in the d–k than NOT smear Harry’s wife.

It’s not lost on me that the Princess of Wales has partially gone back to her baseline style, which is mostly “rejected Downton Abbey looks.” She dressed the same in the pre-Meghan days. As such, Kate has gone back to long coats and coatdresses in a big way, much to everyone’s dismay. If her event is entirely outdoors, no one begrudges the fact that her coat stays on. But for inside events, Kate leaves her coat on and it often comes across as rude. Like, she’s not going to be there long enough to take her coat off, and look at that, she’s already gone. Well, for some reason, this was a big story over the weekend, with the Daily Mail trying to convince their readers that it’s all about royal protocol!

The Princess of Wales has routinely demonstrated her ability to communicate through fashion, illustrated by her evolving collection of elegant A-lined coats. Yet while striking statement outwear may have become an integral asset to Kate’s wardrobe, a secret royal protocol means that royal fans will never see the princess remove her coat in public.

In fact, even in the heat of summer, Kate, 44, alongside other numerous royal women, is forbidden from removing her glamorous long coats that stretch below the knee.

The reason behind such restriction? Historic royal protocol dictates that the act of removing an outermost layer of clothing in public would be considered ‘unladylike’, as per royal standards.

Coats must also be long in length and made of an appropriate fabric and design, meaning that Kate is unlikely to ever be spotted out in a puffer jacket or making a quick outfit change.

Meanwhile, all royal women must ensure that their skirts do not ride above the knee and that hats are not worn indoors at formal events unless it is after 6pm.

Since she wed into the royal fold in 2011, Kate has been adamant about sticking to these historic rules, while still showcasing her creativity and versatility in numerous coats that are often quickly snapped up by eagle-eyed fans.

I’m giggling at the use of “historic rules” and “historic royal protocol.” One might even say “heritage frump.” Still, back in the day, they were always using “royal protocol” to bash the Duchess of Sussex, and that’s when we learned that most “historic” royal protocols are absolute bullsh-t. If Kate wanted to remove a coat, she would and they would bend over backwards to explain why it was perfectly acceptable, nay, it made her a royal icon of coat-removal. The fact is, Kate doesn’t want to remove her coat because it would be pointless – she’s not sticking around, and she wants to remind people of how little she cares. The skirt length thing is a big tell as well – while Kate loves to dress like an Edwardian dowager countess these days, she used to also love a twirly miniskirt without hem weights back in the day. The Daily Mail even devoted countless articles to Kate’s “Marilyn Moments.”

Between the Lindy West-memoir discourse and this, I really wish we could hit pause on the confessional TMI memoir where everyone collectively gets the ick but no one can stop watching the trainwreck. So, yes, Lena Dunham has written another memoir. This one is called Famesick. Lena stepped back for a time – she moved to London, she got married, but she’s still around, in general. And she hasn’t changed, she’s just less in-your-face. People have been circulating excerpts from Famesick for days but I’ve mostly avoided them. But here, I guess we should talk about some of this stuff about Lena’s relationship with Jack Antonoff. They dated for over five years, from 2012 through the end of 2017. In Famesick, she obliquely references the long-standing rumors about Jack and Lorde – Jack produced Lorde’s Melodrama, and many thought that Lorde was one of the reasons why Jack and Lena split.

Lena Dunham is looking back at her ex-partner Jack Antonoff’s relationship with a “teen pop star.” The Girls star and co-creator, who dated the producer and Bleachers frontman for five years, recalls the moment she told Antonoff that the “closeness” he shared with the artist had begun “striking an odd note” in her new memoir, Famesick.

While Dunham does not divulge the artist’s name in her book, it is widely suspected that she is referring to Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lorde. Antonoff co-wrote and co-produced the New Zealand musician’s 2017 album Melodrama, and the collaborators fielded romance rumors — which they denied — in the months following the record’s release and Antonoff and Dunham’s split in early 2018.

In her book, Dunham recalls FaceTiming Antonoff while visiting her grandmother only to find him in “the recording studio in our apartment, where he was ensconced with a teen pop star I was too oblivious to be jealous of.”

She later noted that Antonoff spent his time “locked in a room with a teen pop star whose needs seemed as massive and complex as my own, and who called me ‘Aunt Lena’ when I hobbled into the kitchen with my walker to grab another bottle of green tea.”

At the time, Dunham was fighting chronic illness related to her endometriosis diagnosis. She underwent a hysterectomy after multiple surgical procedures for the illness in 2017. Dunham writes about returning home from a bone density test one day to find the pop star “sprawled across our sectional couch, weeping into Jack’s lap as he told her that ‘your teens are for experimenting’ in a tone so comforting, it almost brought tears to my eyes,” adding, “It had been so long since he’d spoken to me with that kind of expansive generosity.”

She later pointed out the strong bond that the collaborators had developed to Antonoff, suggesting, “Perhaps their closeness was striking an odd note, that she wanted something from him that he couldn’t give.” When she expressed feeling “like a ghost” when seeing them together, Antonoff allegedly told her “‘You’re just mad because she doesn’t want to be your friend,’” Dunham wrote. “And he was right.”

I remember some of this speculation, and I also remember feeling sorry for Lorde out of the three people involved. She was like 19/20 at the time, a sheltered kid from New Zealand, trying to make her sophomore album with the entire industry breathing down her neck. And Lena breathing down her neck as well. Lorde was looking for a refuge and safe space to work and Lena was constantly shooting her “are you f–king Jack” looks. Meanwhile, in this exact same year, Lena screwed her ex-boyfriend while she was still technically dating Jack.

Dunham recalls pointing out that Antonoff’s “closeness” with an unnamed “teen pop star” whose album he was producing had begun “striking an odd note.” At the same time, she details for the first time embarking on an affair with a former middle-school flame named Nick, which ushered in the final break from Antonoff.

As their relationship deteriorated amid Dunham’s health issues, she noted, “I had never stopped flirting—I mean, I wasn’t dead yet — but I had observed careful boundaries, never taking it far enough that I could be declared out of bounds. If I’d wanted to look, perhaps I may have seen that Jack was not observing them as closely as I was.”

She had “had seen myself as some kind of half wife,” but after a hysterectomy “changed the game” in late 2017, she wrote to a former middle school boyfriend named Nick “with impunity, saying l’d just had major surgery and I needed to be cheered up. ‘Meet me by the bridge? Bring me a stuffed animal?’ I got an answer back in less than a minute: ‘I’m already running.'”

Dunham writes that she “let my lips wander slowly across his face and onto his, and I remembered how my high school friend Marissa’s mother once told us how, when she conducted an affair in the 1970s, cheating on her first husband with Marissa’s father, she insisted on wearing a red velvet cape with a hood everywhere she went.” What she wore was “a sweater the size of an airstream trailer, but I too, was ready to do adultery.”

Kissing progressed as Dunham says she told Nick, “I’ve been through something awful. I don’t want to talk about it, but I need you to f— me and I need you to do all of the work.’ ‘I can make that happen,’ he said.”

Dunham writes that the affair lasted several days. “On the third night, my parents left town, and Nick met me at their place, where he went down on me while I watched the steady flames hiss in the electric fireplace,” she details. “Afterward, we took a bath, washing each other’s hair at the same time, then f—ed again on top of my parents’ quilt. He looked deep in my eyes as he moved over me and said: ‘You’re making me want to cut the brakes on your boyfriend’s car.'”

You can read the rest at EW – basically, as soon as Jack came back into town, she told him about the affair within 24 hours and they broke up. She really loved Jack but, big surprise, she sabotaged herself and her relationship. I suspect that she would never put in those terms though, because that would take too much actual self-reflection. If she was honest with herself, I bet she felt relieved after she cheated because she finally had the best excuse to end it with Jack. As one self-saboteur to another, it feels like scratching an itch when you finally screw yourself over like that. Finally, you don’t have to pretend anymore.

Wednesday already happened in Australia, and it was a busy solo day for Prince Harry. He started the day in Melbourne with the Western Bulldogs, an Australian-rules football team. It was an event around Movember and men’s mental health. After he did some cute photo-ops with the team, he did a Q&A session at the team’s headquarters, all about mental health, fatherhood and healing. More on that in a moment. Following those events, he traveled to Canberra to pay his respects to Australian veterans and Australian’s fallen war heroes. He visited the Australian War Memorial, and placed a poppy at the Wall of Remembrance. He laid a wreath at the Pool of Reflection and watched the special Last Pool Ceremony. He met with the all-female honour guard after the Last Post Ceremony as well.

Going back to Harry’s Movember events, his Q&A session was very powerful. I’ve long believed – and I’ve said this before – that one of Harry’s greatest roles is an inspiration and role model to other men as someone who has accessed his own vulnerability and lived in pain without drowning himself in toxicity. He doesn’t perform his masculinity, he IS masculine while being open about needing therapy and the normal mixture of emotions that come with major life changes. Some highlights from Harry’s talk:

He went to therapy before becoming a father: Harry explained that before he and his wife, Meghan Markle, welcomed their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, he attended therapy. “Certainly from a therapy standpoint, you want to be the best version of yourself for your kids,” he said during the discussion with Movember’s global director of men’s health research, Dr. Zac Seidler. “And I knew that I had stuff from the past that I needed to deal with and therefore, prepare myself to basically cleanse myself of the past.”

Disconnection: Before Archie’s birth, Harry’s therapist told him to “just be aware of how you feel once the baby is born.” The Duke noted that he felt a “disconnection” in the early days, saying, “My wife was the one creating life, and I was there to witness it.”

Dads are not alone: The prince concluded his appearance by reminding fathers that they are “not alone” as they navigate the realities of parenthood. “To the dads and soon-to-be dads: yes, it’s messy. You’ll have a rollercoaster of emotions — and don’t judge yourself,” he said.

Movember’s “revolutionary” work: With evidence of the statistics, he hopes it will “give anyone the confidence to know however you have been feeling, however you are feeling, is replicated in the vast majority of individuals….There’s an evolution happening here, and I think the more guys that come forward and talk about it, the higher those numbers will be because those numbers are remarkable and very telling in a culture where it’s not really talked about.”

The evolution of parenting: “I see parenting evolving over time,” the Duke said. “Our kids are our upgrade. Not to say that I upgraded my dad or that my kids upgraded me, but the kids that we bring up in today’s world need to be upgraded.” The Duke, who has previously spoken about breaking a cycle of “genetic pain”, added: “There’s no judgment, there’s no blame, there’s no pointing the finger. The reality is that – however you are parenting – that is a personal experience to you, you are going to want to improve on that. Obviously 40 years ago, there wasn’t social media, so that’s just one example of conversations that are now happening in households between kids and parents that never existed between me and my parents.”

I’ve already seen certain outlets frame this as “Harry criticizes King Charles.” I mean, he already did that in Spare. What was crazy about Spare is that Harry detailed many of the ways in which Charles was a dogsh-t father, but Harry also made it clear that he adored his father and that it meant the world to him whenever Charles did listen to him and help him. What Harry says here is how most parents think, which is that they want to be different and better than their own parents. Also notice how Harry is able to have conversations about men’s mental health without it descending into some tone-deaf catastrophe. I can hear plates being smashed in England as we speak.

Well, Vance is doing a bang-up job as a distraction, because he cannot stop saying the dumbest sh-t anyone has ever heard in their f–king lives. JD Vance sucks so hard, he got heckled at a Turning Point USA event last night! That would be like Trump getting heckled at a dementia convention.

Vice President JD Vance was heckled at a Turning Point USA event in Athens, Ga. while discussing Pope Leo XIV and his recent comments regarding the Trump administration. While speaking at the event on Tuesday, April 14, Vance, 41, who converted to Catholicism as an adult, insisted that the first American pope should “be careful when he talks about matters of theology.”

The vice president made the remarks while appearing to reference an April 10 post on the pope’s X account, which read, “God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs… Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples,” the post added amid the ongoing Iran war.

Vance then said on Tuesday, “Was God on the side of the Americans who liberated France from the Nazis? Was God on the side of the Americans who liberated Holocaust camps and liberated those, those innocent people, from you know … those who had survived the Holocaust? I certainly think the answer is ‘Yes.’ ”

During his comments, Vance was interrupted by someone who appeared to shout, “Jesus Christ does not support genocide!” The vice president then agreed with the statement.

Vance said that he likes it when the pope “comments on questions” regarding issues such as immigration, abortion and “matters of war and peace because I think that at the very least, it invites a conversation.”

The vice president, who met with the pope in May, said at the event, “Now we can, of course, have disagreements about whether this or that conflict is just, but I think that it’s important, in the same way that it’s important for the vice president of the United States to be careful when I talk about matters of public policy, I think it’s very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology.”

Vance was then shouted at by the heckler again, before the politician responded, “Hey, random dude screaming, I told you I’d respond to your point!”

PEOPLE has contacted the White House and the Vatican for comment, but didn’t immediately hear back.

In March 2025, the Duchess of Sussex launched her ShopMy page. Everyone freaked out immediately. The past five years or so have really shown me that whatever “support” there is for Queen Camilla in particular, it’s a mile wide and an inch deep. No one cares about her, and even die-hard royalists view her more like a chaotic neutral than a beloved queen consort. What’s also extraordinary is that I’ve started to realize that Camilla’s approach to her queen-consort role is also a mile wide and inch deep. She’s just been going through the motions, using her “work” to make the heir and his wife look lazy and insolent (which isn’t difficult). Well, after years of trying to fashion herself into an advocate for victims of sexual abuse, Camilla can’t be bothered to meet with Jeffrey Epstein’s victims during the upcoming royal state visit to the US.

The Queen will not meet victims of Jeffrey Epstein when in the United States for the state visit over fears it could disrupt a police inquiry. The Queen, who has faced growing calls to meet Epstein survivors, will find other ways to show her support for victims of sexual abuse instead, incorporating the theme into the trip’s itinerary.

Police in the UK said earlier this year they were deciding whether to launch a criminal investigation into the paedophile’s private flights into Britain, at least one of which allegedly was linked to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

In the US, Congress is investigating Epstein and his crimes. Police raided a ranch once owned by him earlier this year, following allegations that serious crimes had taken place there.

US congressman Ro Khanna and the family of Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre previously called on the King and Queen to meet survivors during their visit.

But a Buckingham Palace source said it would “not be possible” for the King or Queen to agree to requests to meet Epstein campaigners in case it affected a police investigation or potential legal action.

“That is a risk that we simply can’t take, for the best interest for the survivors themselves,” the source added. The Queen, who has long campaigned against domestic and sexual abuse, will instead undertake engagements that include victims of domestic and sexual abuse more generally, as she has done in previous overseas visits.

One of the saddest things about this is that it would be such a big, important moment for Camilla where she actually practiced what she preaches. She could have tea with the survivors and offer her personal sympathy and show concern for them by platforming them and their stories. That’s the way to play it if you’re actually a modern royal who isn’t covering up your brother-in-law’s lengthy criminal history. She could argue that platforming survivors is what she’s all about, even when the perpetrators of abuse are connected to her husband’s family. The latest excuse – “That is a risk that we simply can’t take, for the best interest for the survivors themselves” – doesn’t make any sense for Camilla in particular since she’s not the sovereign and she didn’t give a sh-t about the survivors before Andrew was even arrested.

Over the weekend, many of the worst men in America attended the UFC fight in Miami. Donald Trump was there. Marco Rubio (lol) was there. Joe Rogan was there. Vanilla Ice was there. Human-traffickers Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate were there. And Guy Fieri was there. There were cameras all around, and so obviously, people got videos of all of these terrible men greeting each other. The video of Guy Fieri warmly greeting the Tate brothers drew a lot of attention on social media, which we discussed yesterday. My point remains: after the Tates’ arrests in Romania and all of the bullsh-t that happened for the Trump people to get the Tates out of Romanian custody, literally everyone knows who these guys are and what they’re all about. Still, Guy Fieri’s explanation for his warm greeting is that he simply didn’t know anything about them, and he just wanders through life, inadvertently dapping up international sex traffickers. This is the statement Guy made on Twitter:

I was there to see the fights and when I was walking through the venue, the Tate brothers stood up and said hello and that’s when the exchanged happened. I did not know them or about them before that moment.
