Monochromatic Color Challenge at the PPA

I am the Featured Stamper at the Pals Paper Arts Challenge!!! I am so excited, that I created a couple things for you today. I was thinking, what if I wanted to give a card and a little treat to go with and I only had the card made and no more DSP. Well, I solved that, I decided to create them at the same time. Go figure.

Can you tell the challenge is Monochromatic in Purple!!! I had so much fun with this challenge. I used Perfect Plum and touch of Wild Wasabi, my new favorite Green!!!

For the inside I used the Elegant Lines Embossing folder...

The box is from the Box #2 Sissix Die... of course I will fill it with Hershey Kisses, the silver will really stand out in that purple box. lol

I created my Fantasy Flower by first embossing the cardstock with the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder and then punching a Scallop Circle out of it after auditioning it to find just the right place. I then punched another with the 2 3/8” Scallop Circle Punch and pierced little holes all around with a Push Pen and adhering them with a pop dot for added dimension. The leaves are stamped and cut out from the stamp set Sweetheart.

I think this turned out okay for a Feminine Card in a monochromatic color. I enjoyed creating the flower thats not really a flower, but is a flower. *smile* I hope you are playing along with the PPA Challenge today. I can’t wait to see your creations. Hugs to all... make it an awesome day!

A Thank You Card ???

Yup, it sure is. Our family Doctor is so awesome. My mom is on Medicare and is in need of Oxygen 24/7. I know he doesn’t get reimbursed from Medicare as he should, what Doctor does. Plus he goes the extra mile for her, no matter what it is. Whether its filling out Medical Equipment Registry forms for our electric company, AmerenCilco, I get it in the mail, fill out Mom’s part, send it on to Dr B, he fills in his part and drops it in the mail for me, to rescheduling her appointments due to the weather being too hot or too cold to take her out in. I never have to worry. If its something that is going to cause Mom distress, he has a workaround for it and doesn’t mind doing it at all. I’m so lucky!!! I thought it was high time I put a smile on his face.

Plus a tornado went thru Elmwood, IL a month or so back and he lost his office. The whole town square was ripped apart. Awful, just awful. Elmwood is such a beautiful, old town with tons of historic buildings on the square that were devastated. He also has offices in Farmington and Glasford. We go to the Glasford one.

I hope it puts a smile on his face. What do you think? I hope this year to remember and thank those that we take for granted, even though its there job. There is usually something they do for us thats out of the ordinary. Just like the other day, I was running the cash register at Michaels, the customers cell phone rang and she actually told the caller she was busy at the checkout and would call her back and apologized to me for the interruption. Wow!!! I haven’t had anyone do that in forever!!! I’ll never forget her! *smile*

Tempting Turquoise with White Flowers

I wanted to create some white flowers so they would really pop off the DSP. I had already played with the Dotted Scallop Border Punch and had the Tempting Turquoise piece with the Cross Stitching already done, so I knew I had to pop my flower off this color.
I created my Polka Dot Embossed Border with the Border Embossing Folders, not an SU item.

My flowers layers, starting from the bottom up... Nestibilities Scallop Circle, 2 3/8 Scallop Circle Punch, 2 large Flowers from the Blossom Party Die, then the larger daisy and on top of that one, the smaller Daisy from the Blossom Party Die. I popped 3 of the layers with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I gently coaxed the flower petals to bend and stand apart from each other.

Here’s the close up of the new Dotted Scallop Border Punch with some Cross Stitching. I just love this border punch. Its so much fun. The flowers from the inside of the card are from the Boho Blossoms and Flower Trio Punches. I added a small Tempting Turquoise Brad in the center of each one. The 3 White Candy Dots are from my stash. I will write my sentiment with my White Signo Gel Pen (105021).

Another Elegant Soiree

I was telling you yesterday that I had another card for you using Margaret Moody’s sketch from yesterday’s PPA Sketch Challenge.

This DSP is so fun, it can be classy or casual. I paired the Soft Suede DSP from the DSP Pack with Baja Breeze and it really makes that image pop. The stamp set is Just Believe and I used it for the front and the inside. Now that SU has some self-adhesive Pearls, I just about used the entire package on this card. I don’t mind that, cause I know I can get them anytime I want. Unlike my local Scrapbook Store, they are always out of something I need.

PPA 52 Sketch Challenge

Today’s Challenge at the PPA is one of Margaret Moody’s Sketches. Its an awesome sketch that you can layer and layer and layer with.

A Quick Update and Some Craft Room Pics...

I wanted to take a minute to update everyone and say I’ll be back on Thursday, for sure and to thank you all for your patience. My internet is fixed and so are my TVs!!! Yesterday the last technician was here and the house is even back together. With 5 TV’s the whole house seemed trashed.

I even got to thoroughly clean my work area. So I thought I’d show you some pics of it. Just ignore the backgrounds, we are in a constant state of remodel in this 1850’s farm house. (another story for a later date)

I got an office cubicle from an Insurance Company that was relocating a few years back. I don’t use them as a cubicle, I spread them throughout my room. I love them, a bit of Rubbing Alcohol on a rag, cleans them up like new. Luckily SU came out with a new style of Punches, otherwise I wouldn’t have anymore room for them. There’s a spot on the unit that the punch slips right on and they stand up.

This is my computer area... the steps leading downstairs are right behind the desk and there is supposed to be a half wall between the steps and desk. But, its not done.

This next spot is to the right of my Computer. These shelves is were I store non SU.

Now this is my favorite spot... its where I color and watch TV. Good picture of Brian. lol Right behind my chair is my stamps and inks, etc so I can just reach around and grab em. I got the stamp storage shelving from work.

All of my Coloring Supplies are in Steve’s tool organizer there on the left, that I stole from him. Actually I ripped off 3 of them. They are awesome for storage if you don’t mind the color.

The 2 above is part of my walk in closet. Yup, thats Annie... lol

The one below is to the right of the closet and where I love to stand and put together my cards. I raised my old kitchen table 5” using those things you get at Bed, Bath and Beyond that raise your bed. They are awesome if you stand do your cards. I bought the Cuddlebug long before I became an SU Demo and I just use it for embossing folders. I so love my Big Shot!!!

Under my table is my garage sale card table that I had Steve cut 5” off the legs and now I use it for my Ribbon Storage and different things so I can just pull it out when I need it. So handy and easy. My garbage can is right under my cutter and I just pull it out a bit and let the scraps I don’t save go right in the can. I hope you enjoyed my tour. I was going to repost something I made way back that you might of missed and then thought I’d just post my studio since I’d straightened and cleaned it yesterday.

A Marina Mist Birthday

I wanted to thank you for the wonderful comments on my Pals Hop Post. I so appreciated each and everyone. My internet is up and running as of Wednesday. But on Tuesday while I was going to work, I got rear-ended. I’m fine, though. Just another way to top off the last 10 days or so. The weird thing is, I got side swiped in a parking lot last year, and its the same owner of both vehicles... different cars and different drivers. I knew to stay home that day and didn’t. I swear I had two different headaches at the same time, I had one in the back of my head all day and then after the wreck I got one on the entire right side of my head and the other headache hadn’t went away yet. But my nerves are finally coming back to normal.

I so love the new Marina Blue. I put it together with the new Hostess Level 1 set Punch Potpourri and I really like how it turned out.

Annie helped me with inside photo’s again... she loves the new 1/8” ribbon. In the picture below, she has it snagged with her nail. lol I took at least 8 photo’s of the inside of the card and she’s in everyone. I finally gave up and said oh why not.

Pals Hop

First, I'd like to let ya know I have been having horrendous Internet "Connectivity" issues and thats why you haven't heard from me much. Talk about a nightmare. If I wouldn't get so upset again, I would tell you the entire story. The short version... for the last week, when I'm able to get online, I'm lucky to be online for 5 - 10 minutes at a time. Then I get to reboot both computers, the router and the modem and try again. It usually connects me 1 in 10 times. Steve went to Comcast, which is 5 minutes from my house to get a new router, they told him it had to be ordered online and they would ship it out to me in 3 - 5 business days. How wonderful. So now, I am trying to get a Service Tech here, but Comcast's database is down today!!! They said maybe later today, I could schedule an appt, online not by phone!!! Have ya heard of that? Lets just say I am not a happy gal. I need sympathy!!! or a new internet provider... lol If you only knew how long it took me to create this post for today!!!

SC 209 with Night and Day

Using my version of SC 209 Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoast. I used Night & Day DSP and Blooming Beautiful with a bit of Black Satin Ribbon I created this card. I hope you like it too.

I colored the image on the front with Colored Pencils. After taking the picture I wish I had deepened the red color. The inside image is stamped in Real Red and Old Olive, using SU Markers.

Here is the card I originally made and my DIL wanted me to make one with Red.

Quick ‘n Easy with Kaleidoscope

For today’s cards, I just did some Quick n Easy to use up Retiring DSP. This wasn’t where I was going with these, it was just one of those days. Do you do that too? Truthfully, I’m posting these because I don’t have anything else to post.

I used a few of the flowers from Flower Fusion to try to calm the brightness down a tad. I don’t know if it worked or not, I’m just not happy with the way they turned out.

My Digital Studio Cards

This first card is the one I turned in for Certification in My Digital Studio. I used the Upsy Daisy Stamp Brush Set with Shades of Spring DSP and Brocade Blue. Added a few layers and embellishments.

This is the second card I made using MDS. I used Striped DSP, the 5 Petal Punch, the Scallop Trim Border Punch and the Wide Oval Punch. Misc brads, ribbon, and stitching that comes with the program. This card is done in Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery. Sorry my camera didn’t want to give me good pictures today.

I enjoyed making these cards, but I missed the mess I create. I hope they give you some incentive today to play with your MDS program.

Yogi’s Birthday Card to his Nana

Yogi, our Great Pyrenees Mix, is his Nana’s boy... if he wants me to do something or wants a treat and I won’t do it, then he goes to his Nana and gives her one lil bark and a kiss right on the lips so she’ll do it or go get it. He understands way too much English. Yogi thinks the whole neighborhood is his to control. He absolutely hates the handsome UPS man, the Mail lady, and Meter Readers.

Yogi has this little thing he does when he has to poo, we call it his poo walk. So, when we want him to come in and he doesn’t want to he pretends he has to poo and goes on his little poo walk while checking to see if we’ve moved away from the door. If he thinks we’ve moved he goes back and lays down. He’s good.

Yogi wanted me to make a special card for his Nana’s birthday using flowers and of course he wanted dog punch art... although I would never consider Yogi a dog, although his dad treats him just like one. How rude is that!!! So here’s what we came up with...

I’m sorry I cannot share the Punch Art Dog Tutorial with you as I purchased it. The Punch Art Dog can be found here. Yogi is made with Textured Cardstock in Very Vanilla, So Saffron, Barely Banana, Black, and Pixie Pink.

PPA 48 Sketch Challenge

The PPA Sketch Challenge comes to you from Pal, Margaret Moody. Don’t ya just love her sketches. They are fabulous. Thank you Margaret.

Here’s my version of the PPA Challenge...

This stamp set is called Fast and Fabulous and is a Hostess Level II in the new IBC. This is the first time I’ve used the Night and Day DSP and of course its retiring July 1st and its awesome. I love how the New Core Color, Daffodil Delight comes to life in this card. I couldn’t find any leaves, so I used the leaves from the retired set, Watercolor Garden. The stems are from Greenhouse Garden, 113824.

The markers I used to color in the image are, Always Artichoke, Daffodil Delight and More Mustard. I had to use the yummy Black Satin Ribbon, 117285. Its so easy to tie and adds a bit of elegance. The Black Candy Dots are from my stash. Here’s the inside...

I hope you enjoy my card today. I have to get this post online (its Tuesday) and ready to publish on Thursday. We had a storm go thru in the night and a huge tree branch fell on my cable line and they are both laying at the end of my driveway. Comcast says they’ll be here on Saturday to fix it. Great, I don’t need TV or the Internet for the next 5 days. But, for some reason its still on right now.

Aren’t these little 3 X 3’s just the cutest!!! Mary, my upline and I were talking and I told her I planned on doing some 4 X 4 Thank You’s and she suggested 3 X 3’s for a change. Well, I love making them. They are so much fun and easy to measure for all the layers. Plus, you can get the Mini Square Envelopes, 107309 that fit perfectly!!!

Here’s the insides...

Notice my umbrellas are standing straight... line up the bottoms of one row of umbrellas, (the paper will be crooked in your cutter) into your cutter at the angle they lay and cut it off. now using that cut edge, line it up at the top of your cutter and cut again... turn and cut 2 more times, making sure your cut edge is always on the straight edge of the cutter... and there ya go. Did you know the umbrellas on the DSP are the exact same size as the umbrella in the Coconut Drink on the Tropical Party Stamp Set? How cool is that... its those little things that I love the most, even if I only use it once.

These are the perfect size for handing out with a catalog, for your waiter or waitress with the tip, leave in the mailbox for your mail man or mail lady as in my case... there are just so many reasons to have these on hand. I’m going to hand mine out with the rest of my Summer Mini’s to potential customers. That’s why I made them from products in the Summer Mini.

Just Because Sneak Peek Anniversary Card and PPA47

Today’s challenge over at the PPA is a Theme Challenge, Summer. Well, to me Summer is flowers!!! This is the only place I’ve lived that hasn’t had a yard full. I hope you enjoy my card and I hope to see yours too.

This is the card I was telling you about in an earlier post. Click here to see my Blue Hydrangea Card. Wes and Val had Green Hydrangea’s in there wedding bouquet and I painted them on Ivy Bowls for Wedding Favors. So I decided to make this card for them for there Anniversary, which I’m late for. To know me, is to love me. *wink*

I haven’t completed the inside, I’m waiting for something clever to hit me. Hopefully after lunch so I can get it to them. The coloring is much richer, my camera taking skills failed me today.

Thank you all for leaving comments and I enjoyed reading everyone of them. Did you notice I put wrong response in the winning post of the Pals Fond Farewell Hop Candy... I gave you the response from this posts question. lol I have been reading to comments, apparently. So I will give you the response from the Fond Farewell Hop here... Are you neat and tidy or messy and cluttery. The majority of us start out neat and tidy and organized and it goes down hill from there. That tiny card just creates havoc. lol I know I’ve posted the response before... but maybe some of you didn’t see it.

Now to set things straight, the question for Stampin Up Blog Candy, 1 more time was... Do you prefer to Copy/Paste/Print Tutorials or view a Video Tutorial. I had 65 responses and most of us prefer the Copy/Paste/Print method. 2nd place was to be able have both options and third was just the Video.

Great cards! Love the second one! I usually have a rather cluttered area. When it gets too bad, I clean up and then it slowly morphs back to cluttered - ugh! Upside is I always know where things are at even when it gets cluttered. It's just the area I have to work on a card that shrinks.

This is one of the Level 1 Hostess Sets from the new IBC, Because I Care. I’m using my card either to go with a donation I’ve made or as a Sympathy Card. Here’s a close-up of my flowers.

I love to color images like this, so I'm sure you'll be seeing this stamp set more. I'm working on one for an Anniversary Card for my son, Wes and his wife Val. She loves Hydrangea's and I painted Ivy Bowls with Green Hydrangea's for their wedding favors. Neither one of us got one, so I thought a Green Hydrangea for her anniversary would be fun.

I always start out with a plan, then oooh, this ribbon would go great, and oh I have a perfect sized scrap for that and, hmmm don't you think this would look good embossed. But I always put everything away when I'm done.

Well its time to close the comments for the Blog Candy. I hate to do it, someone else set the rules... honest!!! I so appreciate everyone that took the time to comment and answer the question. I found out most of us are messy, we try and start out good, but we get lost in the tools, embellishments, punches, card stock and stamps along the way. Sometimes I've had to take a break in the middle of that tiny card and clean up so I could continue.

Personally, I prefer a Picture Tutorial, mainly due to time constraints. I can copy, paste and print and view it later vs... taking the time to watch it now. When I save things to my Favorites, it is never to be found again. Maybe I’m just not organized enough, but I never remember to rename the link to something I will remember later.

PPA 46 Color Challenge

What an awesome Color Challenge this week at the PPA. Have you seen the DT’s creations? Aren’t they terrific.I decided to make mine into a Masculine Card. I wanted to use the Happy Birthday sentiment from Vintage Labels, only to find there wasn’t one in the set... only because I took it out and set it right beside my stamp pad only to find it when I was putting everything away. So it says Best Wishes instead.

Here’s my cards for the Fond Farewell Hop. I chose to do Lovely Flowers Level III Hostess Set for my first two cards in 6 X 3 Format. The Lovely Flowers DSP is one of my favorites. I wish this had been offered for everyone and not just as a Hostess Level III, I think more would of loved it. So that is why its my feature today. My first card is a Z-Fold...

Cut your cardstock to 12 X 3, score at 3 and 6 along the 12” side.

This card is created by cutting out the flowers from the DSP and layering them with Stampin’ Dimensions. The Sentimentis from Match Box Messages 113800 and the stamped Flower image is from Tiny Tags, 118091.

My next card is also a 6 X 3 format, cardstock cut to 12 X 3 and scored at 2 on the left side and at 4” on the right side.

The above card adds the Butterfly punch, 116629 with 2 layers punched. The bottom layer is Textured Cardstock with the butterfly cut in half and adhered to the back of the Lovely Flowers DSP punched Butterfly layer so it sticks out from behind about a quarter of an inch. The Flower on the front of the card, is cut out of the DSP and layered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Of course I used the sentiment from Match Box Messages 113800. The little stamped flower is from Tiny Tags 118091.

My next card is my very favorite color... Cameo Coral. I will so miss you!!! I thought I would do a Monochromatic card for you today designed on a Scallop Circle Card.

I used the Bigz Circle Die and Bigz Circle Die 2 to create my card. See here for others I’ve made. I added the Butterfly by brayering Cameo Coral Ink onto the Beautiful Wings Die 118138 and then die cutting it on Whisper White. I really like how the embossing stayed a pure, bright white. I added the sentiment from retired Circle of Friendship Stamp Set in Cameo Coral and 3 white Candy Dots. Of course I wrapped the scallops with a little DMC Embroidery Floss.

For the inside I used the Retiring Stamp Set, Enjoy Every Moment 113622. I was just beginning to depend on that Stamp Set in my Collection, too.

Well those are my cards for the Hop today, I loved the set Lovely Flowers and I wish it hadn’t of been a Hostess Level III set. I think more would of have loved to of been able to purchase it. Cameo Coral... you will be so missed!!!
