This looks expensive. What is the price of the vehicle?

Although pricing has not yet been announced, our target is to ensure that the initial transaction price of Carbon’s purpose-built vehicle will be comparable to what law enforcement agencies are currently paying for a retail vehicle and after-market equipment combined. The total cost of ownership is where agencies stand to save a generous sum of money due to the E7’s superior engineering, durability and efficiency. Reserve yours today to receive advanced notification of pricing.

What is the Carbon ‘E7’?

The Carbon E7 is the world’s first purpose-built law enforcement vehicle developed specifically for the needs of traffic, patrol and surveillance operations. ‘E7’ is the internal code name for the vehicle until a member of the law enforcement community officially names it during an upcoming naming contest.

What do you mean by a “purpose-built” vehicle?

While firefighters, emergency medical technicians, military personnel, and postal employees have vehicles designed to make them more effective in their jobs, law enforcement has for many decades relied on modified retail passenger cars for their operations. The E7 has been designed from the ground up by automotive engineers and law enforcement personnel to serve as a performance tool for police patrol and response operations.

Why do we need a purpose-built vehicle for law enforcement?

Extensive market research has revealed that the law enforcement community is keenly interested in a more reliable, durable, high-performance vehicle to enhance operations and to provide a higher level of officer protection—and by extension, a greater level of public safety. While both criminal threats and law enforcement tactics have changed over the years, our officers are still driving the same kinds of vehicles they were driving 30 years ago. The E7 was designed by law enforcement to respond to the needs of today’s officer.

What makes the E7 different from the standard police cruiser?

Instead of taking an off-the-line passenger vehicle and retrofitting it with tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment to bring it up to specifications, the E7 starts with officers’ needs in mind. The vehicle is engineered from bumper-to-bumper, and from the ground-up, to serve the unique demands of law enforcement, with features including:

A high-performing six-cylinder dual-turbo clean diesel engine that burns less fuel

Bullet-stopping ballistic panels in front doors and dash panel

Emergency lights and flashers integrated into the roof, body and bumpers

360-degree exterior video and audio monitoring with programmable pre-event recording capability • Video and audio monitoring of rear passenger compartment * Automatic license plate recognition system

And much more.

When will the E7 be available?

This effort will take several years. Once the long-term governmental and financial agreements are in place, it will take us approximately 36 months to get the vehicle to full-scale production. It is also important that we take our time and do this properly in order to get you the best product at the most affordable price possible.

Will the E7 be built on an existing vehicle platform?

No. In order to meet the majority of the needs and desires expressed by the market, it is necessary for Carbon to develop its own proprietary vehicle platform, purpose-built solely for law enforcement use.

I’ve got some ideas of my own for the ideal law enforcement vehicle. To whom should I submit them?

We always love to hear from our potential customers, so feel free to join the Carbon Council and submit a Carbon Case. All cases are considered and will be reviewed by the product development team. Please understand that all submissions become the property of Carbon Motors Corporation and you forfeit all actual or perceived legal ownership in perpetuity.

Since the E7 is made solely for law enforcement, what will we do with the used vehicles?

While conducting our market research in the initial years of our company, we found that when given a choice, agencies genuinely did not want these vehicles being used outside of law enforcement. “Command Presence” is lost when a vehicle is auctioned off for use as a taxi or worse, by someone who is attempting to create the illusion that he is in law enforcement. The vehicles will therefore be strictly limited to law enforcement sale/usage only.

Once you determine that the vehicle has reached the end of its useful life for your department, you will have a few options:

item1 You may sell it directly to another agency;

item2 You may enlist the help of Carbon’s database to find an agency that has expressed an interest in acquiring a previously utilized vehicle; or

item3 Carbon will buy the vehicle back from you, where we will recondition and resell it, or “part it out” and recycle the remaining bits.
