After looking over it quickly I saw that the campaign was all about being environmentally conscious and the prizes where apparently all made up of recycled bottles.

I find it odd to make a prize ticket about environmental awareness out of so much paper. It was a lot bigger than most prize tickets and it had you rip off the top and bottom and it also had a huge black square in the middle. The only thing that might be even more related might be nuts. Fruit however can be used in so many ways to accent, flavour, and colour candy that it blows my mind. I always love getting new treats that use fruit in a new (at least to me) way. This review is just that, it also uses one of my favourite fruits of all times. As you would imagine by this post, me second favourite food, after candy, is fruit.

Click here to read the review.

CC

Happy Bitter Sweet Chocolate With Almond Day!

To celebrate this most illustrious of all holidays I’ve decided to chow down on a Burnt Almond Bar.
This particular treat was a favourite of my sisters when we where kids and I couldn’t figure out why anybody would want a burnt chocolate bar over a bag of gummy bears or a Tootsie Pop. I have finished my tour through French Toast Crunch and I have to say I highly recommend it, especially if you've never had it, especially if you love French Toast. Oh, true, there are better candy cereals out there... but this one is totally worth a try! Now, for today's video I perchanced to find a wonderful tongue twister scene from Pinky and the Brain, can you follow closely and comprehend what the heck Brain is trying to get Pinky to do? Can you do it at 7:30 in the morning? I have to say, I'm having trouble keeping it all straight, however, I do know that I love playing with Kicky Sack Socko Sack Kickers! They’re selling candy canes this holiday season filled with… well actually it’s what they don’t have that’s pretty neat. As they put it “We are the only company that has invested in creating a candy cane that is safe to eat without any bad stuff!” The reason I like these guys (I’ve reviewed their cotton candy) is that they manage to use healthy ingredients and they never skimp on taste. In fact they often have really creative treats with really creative flavours. Here’s something this candy critic wouldn’t mind putting on his tree.

Click here to read more about Pure Fun.

CC

Made at Home

I discovered a post in a fun little blog called Maman & Gourmand where Christine shares her adventures in making classic candies at home. I’ve seen people do this before but I always think it’s a great idea. Some people like this idea because they figure they can reduce sugars or increase the general quality of their non-store bought treat but that’s not why I like the idea of re-made classic treats. I always imagine myself making mega treats, like the world’s largest peanut butter cup, or a snickers bar 4 feet long. You can click here to check it out instead:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fe5j277hjxA"

ED

Joy! Hi gang! well, I been into another bowl of this French Toast Crunch... it's pretty good... I do like it, but I find after 3 bowls it doesn't hold me like some other cereals can. Certainly the cereal doesn't have any kind of spokescreature to get behind like the Cap'n. But regardless I find it a delicious treat but not really a persistent addition to the pantry in terms of candy cereal. I would have to give it a 7 out of 10 as well on account of these points. It tastes better than Cap'n Crunch, but it's missing something in the texture department. Now, for today's video...it's a classic, it may be not obscure enough for some (which seems would be a sad sentiment), but it's been a while for me to see and hear it... it's Ren and Stimpy's Happy Happy Joy Joy song! So you'd all... better...be...HaPpY...dammit..! He he, enjoy!

Jon

It’s all Greek to me.

I seem to really be promoting Presidents Choice as of late here on Candy Critic, but that could be because they’re coming out with so many strange and wonderful new things that I just can’t stop myself.
Today’s new adventure is these Greek flavoured potato chips. Or maybe they’re Greek style flavoured potato chips, I mean that only makes sense.
I was really impressed at the idea of Feta Cheese, Olive, and oregano flavoured chips but they took a little to warm up to. I think at first I was expecting it to taste like a Greek salad and they don’t. But the flavour is pretty good and well worth the adventure.

CC

Candy Holiday Gift Idea

This Holiday Season I’ve decided to let you guys in on every single Christmas, Hanukah, or any other holiday related candy deal that I get my hands on.
