Walkin’ and Wheelin’ on Saturday – Nov. 14th

On Saturday November 14, 2009, Camp Courageous of Iowa will sponsor the 1st annual “Walkin’ & Wheelin’ for Camp Courageous.” This fun-filled event will take place from 8:30-11:00 a.m. at Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids. Registration is from 8:30-9:30, with the walk from 9:30-10:30. Awards will be presented from 10:30-11:00. T-shirts will be given to each participant who has collected a minimum of $10 in donations. Prizes will be awarded to the individual and team raising the most money for this event.

Monticello Casey’s Benefit – Nov. 7th

The Monticello Casey’s General Store will once again be hosting a day for Camp Courageous, Saturday, November 7th from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Half of all sales during this day will go to Camp Courageous. For example when a customer buys $10.00 worth of gas and $10.00 worth of pizza, pop, donuts, etc. for a total sale of $20.00, $10.00 will go to Camp Courageous.

Rachel Circle and Friends from Brandon donate and volunteer at Camp Courageous

The ladies with the Rachel Circle and Friends from Brandon made their annual trip to Camp Courageous to volunteer for the day working on the PMCI Cent-a-Gallon mailing. They also brought along a large donation of food, paper, craft supplies, paper products, and other much needed items. It’s always a great time working with this group. After finishing the mailing they shopped in the camp store, purchased some fruitcake and scheduled a date to return next year. We can’t wait! Thanks ladies.

Anamosa Wal-Mart provides community grant to Camp Courageous

Anamosa Wal-Mart Assistant Manager Derek Peck presents Camp Courageous board president Phil Martin, and board members Winnie Williams, and Jim Klinger a check for $1000 through the Wal-Mart Community Grant program. Derek is the grandson of camp dietary staff Sharon Holub. Camp would like to extend its appreciation to the Anamosa Wal-Mart and the Wal-Mart Foundation for their generosity.

Scarlet Old Hatters tour Camp Courageous

It was a treat to have the Scarlet Old Hatters tour Camp Courageous. Most the ladies were from the Cedar Rapids and Marion area. The group ate with the campers and toured the camp. Great group who really enjoy life!

Train track work continues at Camp Courageous

Work continues on the train track. All the ties and rail have been removed to better level the track bed which everything rides. The changes in elevation of the track in the past had made it difficult when the rail was wet. This improvement should keep the train going year-round.

Hope United Methodist Church invites Camp Courageous for program

Thank you to Lois Bliven for inviting camp to give a program to members of Hope United Methodist Church in Iowa City. Wonderful group who collected a large number of items for camp, along with many members made donations. Nice group!

Schrock family donates antique items to Camp Courageous

Garage Sale Volunteers honored at Camp Courageous potluck

A special potluck provided by the Camp Courageous Board and Staff was provided for all the Manchester Garage Sale Volunteers. Over 60-volunteers helped make this year’s Garage Sale the very best ever. We can’t thank our good friends from the Manchester area enough.
