Better late than never! Below is a free desktop “doodle” for the month of February–click to get the full-sized version.

I don’t usually get the opportunity to doodle in a way that suggests depth, so this was challenging in a fun way.

Sandy Carter is an amazing documentary photographer who found my shop while doing a search on Etsy. I was honored when she asked me to create some doodles to be used in a book she wrote for her granddaughter. Here are two of the six panels:

I hope her granddaughter enjoys the book as much as I enjoyed doodling it!

I’ve heard about Spoonflower a number of times, and last week I finally worked up the ambition to check it out. What I found intrigued me–it’s a service that will print your designs on fabric. So I tried my hand at a swatch, just to see how it worked:

It’s a simple start, but I could totally see working on a series for nursery bedding, or maybe a single doodle printed on fabric and stretched on a frame for display. My head is spinning with the possibilities–you may be seeing Calobee Doodles on Spoonflower very soon!

One custom order that kept me entranced over the last day or so:

Betsy from La Maison Luxe is a regular customer who also happens to be a genius. Knowing her friends and family would love them, she suggested I create a custom, personalized Alphabet Soup poster using the recipient’s name and a mini-doodle in place of the title in the lower right. Personalization was something I’d never thought to try before, but I’m glad Betsy asked, because the effect is so cute. See for yourself:

Betsy just had a new baby girl, and decided she wanted a doodle of my “i carry your heart” print, but asked if I could change the colors to match her daughter’s nursery. I was more than happy to oblige!
