If you are like my boyfriend who has experienced deaths and suffering in his family brought about by smoking, you will certainly feel a high level of hatred toward cigarettes. Two of his uncles died of cancer which they got after years of smoking.

For this reason my boyfriend has learned to detest smoking and cigarette itself. That is why he welcomes any innovative means that can help smokers stop their nasty habit. An electronic cigarette is a good start because it does not contain the harmful ingredients that make up a regular cigarette and it does not pass of second hand smoke.

Let us all help the people we love to finally quit smoking by showing them ways on how to do it. And once they have made the first step to quit, let us support them all the way.

“Why are you leaving your current company?”

Anyone who has gone into a job interview certainly has heard of this question. While it may seemingly be very easy to answer, it is actually kind of tricky because you don’t know if you will be honest with your answer or if you will twist the truth just a little bit.

Sometimes if you tend to be too honest you come off as a bitter person maligning his current employer. Even if you have very poor experience working at your current job, it is not a good thing to speak of bad things about your company to that job interviewer who will be assessing you for the position you are applying.

As much as you can, think of the good things that make your stay with your current employer a pleasant one. I’m sure you can think of a good experience or two, it can’t be totally bad. Praise the good that you see in your company and expound on that. When you let your feelings go wildly, imagine the horror stories you might belch out and in turn might backfire on you. Keep your answers clean and safe and just breeze through the interview with a good feeling about your current employer.

Well, not me but I’m pretty sure that most rv owners in the United States have the need for an rv insurance just to make sure that their vehicle is always protected should an accident happen.

My boyfriend commented that for the first time he saw job openings being advertised on light posts. He said that because as he was driving down the stretch of Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati City, he couldn’t avoid noticing the tarpaulin banners hanging down the light posts announcing the various job openings in certain call center companies.

Could it be that there the competition to hire call center employees are getting stiffer as these companies are even resorting to these mainstream advertisements?

In the call center that I work, each day the lobby is filled with job seekers so I don’t think that there is a shortage of people who want to get into this industry. But the reality is not all of them are hired because not all of them have the chops to be call center workers. It’s not merely a matter of picking up the phone and talking to customers. Customer service is more than that.

What call centers have to do is to conduct more trainings so there will be more people who will be able to work.

All brides want to be the most beautiful bride on their big day. And in our current society, one aspect of being beautiful is being slim. If you’re a bit on the heavy side, how do you think you can lose some weight? Dieting? How about plain old exercise, or both? I bet that’s the safest and most recommended way. While others are also into taking slimming pills and maybe even an appetite suppressant. Now I don’t know if those last two are effective but I believe if you opt to try them, you have to maintain taking those pills on a regular basis.

Because I have a theory that once you stop taking dieting pills, and that if you don’t change your lifestyle, you will just regain the weight you’ve lost. And then you have to start all over again. Which is sad.

Will Philippine BPO Industry remains to be the sunshine industry?

I guess yes, for now. But since Vietnam, Malaysia and Sri Lanka have been silently working on advertising themselves as the next preffered BPO locations, then I guess it’s high time to look at where we’re at right now.

According to this recent article on BPO firms, we have to keep with the global standards (of customer service satisfaction) and market ourselves heavily as well so as not to lose this spot in the eyes of these call center companies.

As Filipinos are known for their work dedication and hospitality, I believe that we should not only maintain great work ethic but also show them good statistics to justify their stay here in the Philippines.

But if our Asian neighbors will bargain a much competitive compensation, technology and talent pool, we might eventually find ourselves losing the ’shine’, causing unemployment left and right.

And this is the scenario that we don’t want to happen right? Because losing these call center jobs means losing the jobs in other sectors as well, especially in telecommunications, transportation and hospitality industries.

So for all of us who are working in call centers, let’s do our share in keeping our industry alive. Let’s always put our best foot forward and remain competitive globally, these simple steps will greatly help in securing our jobs and the preference of our global clients.

…by a tricycle. And she was not even there when it happened. She parked her car and when she came back hours later, there’s a big dent on the side of her brand new Toyota Vios. Good thing my friend has a car insurance that will take care of everything.

The only problem is, the Toyota branch where she bought her car still has a long line of cars scheduled for repairs. I have a hunch those are the cars that were submerged during typhoon Ondoy. I’m pretty sure there are still lots of cars that are not yet repaired.

I think my friend was told she will have to wait for at least two more weeks before her car can be serviced. Until then, she has to content herself driving around a spanking new car with a visible dent on the side.

Whenever we are at the mall, my boyfriend loves to stop by an electronics store and look at the various desktop computers on display. He keeps on saying that he wants one (even though we already have four laptop computers).

I guess the reason for this is because I wouldn’t let him play any video games on any of our laptops. So he would naturally want a desktop of his own and install games in it. I have nothing against video games, but I’m pretty sure that it will eat up much of his time instead of doing more constructive things with his computer.

Maybe I’ll let him play every once in a while. Perhaps I can install a software program that will time his playing and automatically shuts the game off when it has already reached the specified time. Now that would be nice (for me).

It’s Christmas once again and I’m wondering how would call centers be spending their Christmas parties since we all know that we are experiencing a slow economy? Especially with the United States, that although some have declared the US is already out of the recession others still believe they are not, when the majority of the local call centers’ clients are from there.

Will they still be spending much money on holiday parties? Our call center last year gave away a brand new car. I’m not yet sure if they are going to do the same thing during next month’s Christmas party. What I know is the venue is still some place big (so it means it’s not within the office premises) and that there will be rock bands and other live concerts. So I expect it to be equally fun and exciting, although perhaps minus the glittering prizes.

But who knows, perhaps next year will be a much better year for the economy and the call center industry in particular. Maybe there will be more prizes, both cash and in kind, for a 2010 Christmas party.
