Getting ready to renovate the attic

Now that summer is just around the corner, my husband and i have decided to renovate our two room attic to create a storage area and an extra bedroom. The attic his very large and has 8 foot ceilings so there is more than enough room. In fact, it would end up being the biggest bedroom in the house and it's going to our daughter.

We need to install drywall, electricity and baseboard heat. Once that's done we can install the carpet and a bit of paint. We should have everything done for around a grand! Since my husband works an odd shift, he has time during the day to do everything on his own.

As for me, I've been busy on DayBeds.com for day beds, and just about every decor website looking for all the perfect girl touches to make this room a serious contender for any princess. When I get done with it, I'll want to use it for my own room!

My husband loves doing designs and the picture listed above is a design he did for one of his favorite songs by a band called Sepultura. He's such a big fan of that band that his left arm is heavily tattooed with band paraphernalia. He designed the picture to serve has his next tattoo. I'm not into the band as much as he is so I couldn't really tell you the meaning of it all but to me, this looks like it would make an awesome shirt. I suggested to him that he looks for a custom tshirt place to make a few of these for him. How cool would it be to have your own custom tattoo and matching tshirt!!!

Or maybe I just need more coffee?? Either way I am slowly getting rid of the bags under my eyes! I blogged on one of my other blogs - That Girrl - about a jane iredale product I found called jane iredale Circle/Delete eye treatment and concealer and yes, it works!

Now, the sleep/coffee thing - well, that can only HELP get rid of the bags and keep m from feeling so worn out.

Family Dinner Night

My mom and grandma started a tradition with me and my family - family dinner night. One night a week, usually either on a Wednesday or a Thursday, we go to my mom's for dinner. It's really nice to not have to worry about cooking for one night and I love having us all around the table. Here are the 3 kids with my grandma:

That night we had lasagna. Tonight is family dinner night and I CAN'T WAIT because we are ordering Chinese! Not that I don't love my mom and/or grandma's cooking but I am so hungry for some lo mein!

I've been sitting here researching the best company for plumbing services tyler tx for a friend (she knows how I love Google and how I am so good at finding things) but all I can think about is Chinese food! LOL!

I Hate My Thin Lips

I have always hated my lips because they are so thin. I mean, I don't want lips that look like I got punched in the mouth but a little plumper would be nice, especially since I have my lip pierced.

Mother's Day Rocked

Mother's Day was wonderful! I spent the day with my boys and CJ. The weather was beautiful so we spent most of the morning outside. Jeff brought Olivia to me around 3pm and then we had a 'picnic' at my mom's.

My family knows I love silver jewelry, I definitely prefer it over gold! This is what I got from the kids. I love the saying, "Mother is another word for love."

Disney's Wilderness Lodge

For our upcoming October vacation we are doing a split stay; first half of the trip at Bay Lake Tower and then the second half at Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani Village. However, I almost picked the Wilderness Lodge simply because CJ really wants to stay there.

The lobby and the rooms have beautiful log cabin furniture and it is such a 'feel good' resort.We usually eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge so at least we will get to visit this October.

They Want to Start a Band

Oh my - the kids want to start a band, with REAL instruments. Not the kid drum set Dante had (well had, lol) or the kid guitar Olivia has - they're talking the real deal, compete with audix microphones and even a stage to perform on.

You know what, I would be absolutely fine with this IF I truly believed they were serious and were going to practice, but I think they just want to make a lot of noise, When they agree to lessons, then I will consider this.

If you own a small business, how do you advertise? Sometimes the advertising budget is small, believe me, I know.

Personally I've done a lot online - that is pretty cheap, however, buying ad space in the local newspaper is not. So, what about other ideas? Business cards left randomly out at places I've been, yard signs advertising my business? Toss me some ideas!

Now that CJ is on a mid-shift, he has more time to do things around the house. He seems to like to tackle projects in full force and then he sputters out. These days he is 'serious' about getting things COMPLETED. I guess if I see him sporting a pair of those coveralls for men I should worry?? LOL

Honestly though, there are so many things we need to do here - it's all those little annoying things. UGH!

I saw a great article on-line while I was reading the news using my rochester clear wireless internet connection today. It was a write up about the world’s oldest physician that passed away. Dr. Leila Denmark, passed away at one hundred and fourteen years old this week in Athens, Georgia. She was known in the Guiness Book of World Records as the world’s oldest practicing physician. She practiced until she was one hundred and three years old. Can you imagine! I was astonished as a kid by a nun that taught second grade at eighty four years old!

This woman was practicing when she was over a century old! Dr. Denmark began her medical career in Atlanta, Georgia. For a woman to be a physician in 1928 was a feat. For her to make such a contribution to the field was even a greater feat and inspiration. She treated many for free and even made such advancements in the medical field in the 1930’s that she helped to develop a vaccine for whooping cough! Can you imagine? What an awesome feat! The life of Dr. Denmark is definitely an inspiration!

My boys cannot be trusted using a computer without supervision, simply because they would destroy it. Olivia, on the other hand, can be trusted, as far as taking care of it goes. I am searching clearance laptops online to see if I can find anything cheap.

CJ is working in a different department since he has been hired at C.F. Martin Guitar and his back has been killing him, more than usual. Someone he works with mentioned he had gotten laser back surgery and it really helped. I told CJ we just need to figure out a way to manage his pain. He really doesn't want any type of surgery...

Ahhh, I want to go back to Morocco, yes, the Morocco in Disney's Epcot park! We ate there for the first time during our last trip. Here is a photo of a shop there.

We have been going to WDW twice a year lately and I want to continue to do so, even if I have to get a second job! Hey there are Home Depot jobs, kroger jobs and other retail type jobs I could easily handle!

CJ and I had dinner in Mexico at Epcot one night on our "DisneyMoon" and it was very good! It was average - expense wise, but had the potential to become very expensive, had I added in some margaritas!

There wasn't your 'average' Mexican food entries to choose from - no tacos (except fish tacos) or burritos, chimichangas, etc...so I don't think our kids would like it there. Wyatt loves tacos and said he was going to bring gold bullion to pay for meals (he sees on tv how gold is like money) since he is a pirate, LOL, but I don't think we will be eating here when we return in October.

We were looking at DIRECTV Carmichael services. I guess for some reason, my husband and I had it in our minds that the services offered would be different state to state. We just moved to California recently. I landed a job at this place called Amy’s Organic Kitchen. I studied food science in school so now I work at Amy’s to develop different foods to produce. My husband keeps telling me I should get out of the lab and into the sales aspect of the business. He thinks I have it in my personality, but I just like the food part so much better! When we moved, we did not really take the necessary pre-move measures, like having the TV set up and ready to go. For whatever reason, we also assumed the service would be really different in California than it was in Alabama. That really was not the case though. The services, channels and all seemed pretty similar. I guess the main change was learning to get used to the Western time zone!

Since CJ and I will be heading to Disney on Monday without the kids, I am making sure to spend extra time with the kids this weekend. We did lots, from coloring to playing games and make believe. We played store - they even pretended to have a register, complete with a barcode scanner, lol.

Dante wasn't feeling well this morning and now CJ isn't feeling well. I hope everyone is fine tomorrow. Leaving while sick, or leaving sick kids is so not cool. Don't forget to FOLLOW along on my trip

I Can't Believe My Week!

My business, L&C Freelancing, is growing in leaps and bounds! We now have a web development team on hand to design/update websites as well as create e-commerce sites!

CJ was told today that C.F. Martin Guitar IS hiring him. The paperwork will start tomorrow and his official start date is the Monday we return from vacation. (March 12th)

Last but not least, I was approached to be in a documentary about modern witches - and it IS legit!

AND.....next week will be even MORE exciting BECAUSE...CJ and I leave for Disney on Monday, sans the kids - for our "DisneyMoon". Jealous? Feel free to come to Disney with us and take a break from reality! We are staying at the Beach Club Villas:
