Breakthrough devices like the ultra-portable PCs and the Macbook Air make it even easier to to take full computers, and not just cell phones, anywhere and everywhere.

According to the Pew Internet Project’s December 2007 survey:

58% of adult Americans have used a cell phone or personal digital assistant (PDA) to do at least one of ten mobile non-voice data activities, such as texting, emailing, taking a picture, looking for maps or directions, or recording video.

41% of adult Americans have logged onto the internet on the go, that is, away from home or work either with a wireless laptop connection or a handheld device.

This comes to 62% of all Americans who have some experience with mobile access to digital data and tools. That is, they have either used a cell phone or PDA for a non-voice data application or logged on to the internet away from home or work using a wireless laptop connection or with a handheld device. The Pew Internet Project’s December 2007 survey interviewed a sample of 2,054 adult Americans, which included 500 respondents contacted on their cell phones.

A microsite is a website that is separate from the main company website where businesses offer information on one particular activity, product or group of product or an event.

Microsites are ideal for short or temporary marketing campaigns where you need a unique design. They are small with unique URL’s, with contents that are rich in multimedia including flash games, videos and flash animations to promote a product or service. Microsites are ideal for Search Engine Marketing(SEM) campaigns because they are specific and focused to a product or service.

Here are some ideas for a successful microsite:

Keep the contents interesting. Get the person that is passionate about your product to write the content or get them to talk on a short 30second video commercial.

Be specific and focused.

Information should be one click away from the main landing page.

Be creative on your microsite.

A content management system or a CMS allows a content publisher control of changes to an internet or intranet website without the need of a technical web developer.

What adds value and improve productivity is that most CMS’s today have a user friendly interface similar on an online form with a word-processor features. You can copy and paste texts from your PDF or MS Word document and insert video’s from sources like Youtube to a CMS. Through a simple interface a CMS can automate the process of managing contents on websites and portals.

Contents that are managed by a CMS are easily maintained and are not limited by the number of pages that a technical web developer can create.
