This Week on CT-N Capitol Report: Week in Review

Hartford, CT – Starting at 7 p.m. this Friday, Connecticut Network viewers will hear what’s been taking place at the State Capitol on this episode of Capitol Report: Week in Review. State legislators met for multiple-day sessions and debated numerous bills. The Senate’s discussions included: a mixed-material beverage container bill that would permit malt liquor beverages and beer to be packaged in a pouch, a bill that would ban teenagers from using tanning beds, a bill that would strengthen the state’s traffic stop data collection laws and a bill that would create a statewide mattress recycling program, the first in the nation. The House of Representatives debated a bill that would allow provisional ballots to be used in all elections, in an effort to make voting more convenient.

Capitol Report this week will also have highlights on bills referred to legislative committees including training for armed school security guards and the “Wal-Mart^© Bill” which is based on big companies encouraging employees to use state insurance instead of the insurance offered by the employer. In addition, viewers will get the latest on brownfield clean-up efforts in the state as Governor Malloy held a news briefing this week to announce more funding for the project.

This Week on CT-N Capitol Report: Week in Review

Hartford, CT – Starting at 7 p.m. this Friday, Connecticut Network viewers will learn more about the discussions taking place at the State Capitol on this episode of Capitol Report: Week in Review. State legislators started to work long hours as both the House of Representatives and Senate held multiple business-day sessions. On Wednesday, the Senate gave state residents a unique glimpse at politics as a rare negotiation played out on the chamber floor. Both parties had their say on a constitutional amendment that would allow the General Assembly to make changes to the state’s election laws.

Capitol Report this week will also have highlights from the House of Representatives session where legislators had a passionate debate over regulating mixed martial arts in Connecticut. In addition, viewers will get the latest on the bill regarding minimum wage as it was considered by the Appropriations Committee. Also in this episode, watch highlights from the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee as they took up various referred bills.
