"No More Direction After Puli" - SJ Suryah

SJ Suryah says Puli will be his last directorial venture. Talking to CineGoer.com, the director says he wants to satisfy all his creative urges and acting is the only medium. He says he spent a decade on direction and now it's high time he moves onto acting. He has already worked in five films in Tamil and hopes the audience likes his work in Vyapari. Cloning in the film is not his idea but the highlight of the film is a song on mother 'Aashapadina Dedaina'. Another number on mother 'Pedave Palikina' was a hit in Naani, similarly this too will supercede the movie's story. Everything about movies gives him a high is his answer when journalists asked him which is close to his heart acting or direction. Last year he said it was direction but now he sounds tactful and says whatever concerned remotely with movies excites him. Probably he is guarded in his speech because he’s at the moment directing Puli with Pawan Kalyan. But why is he moving over from direction? That's because it's a tedious job and you got to be responsible to all, the producers, distributors, etc. He will act in the Tamil version of Puli and hopes to grow his mouch.

"Suryah Is A Popular Actor" - Koonireddi Srinivas

A colorful booklet of Vyapari was distributed to the media today at the press meet held by producer Koonireddi Srinivas. He said that Vyaapari is releasing on the 13th June with over 50 prints. The filmmaker claims that it's first-ever film on cloning and also leading ladies Tamannah, Malavika, Namitha will add glitter to the screen. Suryah plays a rich business man whose only ambition is to make a rupee more than Bill Gates and in the process of his commercial journey he loses out on his family life. While the Vyapaari gets busy and is unable to balance his vast empire and personal life he thinks of getting himself cloned. Tamannah plays a journalist who marries him. The producer finally signs of saying that Suryah is a popular actor in Tamil Nadu and he hopes people here would receive his films with the same warmth he'd got there.

A 'Stinking' Press Meet

There was unbearable stench from the lake behind, the waiters were serving colorful cocktails, and on the adjacent table the food looked inviting for the journalists and they all had a glorious time. At Taj Banjara, on the lake side the producer Koonireddi Srinivas said that it was his idea to have a press meet in such a surrounding as he found the regular tete-e-tete amidst the closed doors clichéd. Either the producer was ignoring the stink or he was blissfully engrossed apprising the details of Vyapari to take notice of it. Is Surya newspaper associated with the producer? A man stocked up a huge pile of today's edition and was found distributing it to the media people as soon as they came in. None bothered to even turn the pages of the daily except the producer. He diligently opened the cinema page and showed the Vyapari still to SJ Suryah and thus Suryah glanced at Surya!

Amazing Response For Sudha

Very rarely does a producer gets so much respect for producing a film. Chava Sudha Rani deserves to be applauded for bring forth a film like Ningi Nela Naade and making it reach to the maximum people possible. The couple, Sudha and her husband have been working hard for months to get the film in shape and release it on time. A release, publicity of a film is involved in lakhs of rupees and an ordinary person cannot afford it. Despite all the hurdles they have finally succeeded, Sudha thanks the media and all those people who have spoken for the film. Sad only one person from the industry i.e., Mahesh Babu has spoken for the film, while the rest have been mute spectators. Whether stars take the initiative or not, Sudha has reached her goal, she wanted to spread the message that one should not lose courage in life and think of committing suicide. Life is too valuable, we have a responsibility..and that is to give back to the society, if one thinks of ending the life they end up being a burden on their kith and kin instead of contributing to the society opines Sudha. In a chat with CineGoer.com she says she's been getting overwhelming response on the FM, people have been sending SMSs and the interaction with them has made her emotional. People who have never gone to the theatres are seeing the film, rich and the poor who have lost interest in their lives have been calling her and telling how the film has worked like a tonic. Kudos to such people, long live the tribe!

Brisk Progress Of Big Films

Two big budget movies are busy wrapping up their schedules. Ramcharan Tej and Kajal are in Europe at the moment, the song picturising of 'Naakosam Nuvvu' is on. The film will be releasing in the fourth week of July. The story is by Vijayendra Prasad and dialogues are by M. Ratnam. The film is produced by Aravind and is directed by Rajamouli, a few numbers in the film have become chartbusters. NTR's movie with Ashwani Dutt will begin shoot in October. Ileana is the heroine and Meher Ramesh who made Kantri is the director. Both the actor and the producer in a written statement released to the press said they were happy to do a new project again and this one set against various backdrops will be a visual treat. On the other hand, a three crore set has been put up for Prabhas-Puri film Ek Niranjan. Adityaram Movies makes this movie and so far fifty percent of the film has been completed. A schedule has been planned for thirty days from July in Bangkok. Recently a song was picturised at the Annapurna Studios involving Kangana Ranaut and Prabhas.

Amaravathi From 26th July

After two successful films Anasuya and Nacchavule, Ravi Babu is set to begin his next project Amaravathi. This film reportedly has no hero as such, and the story is entirely character-based. A thriller again it has Bhumika and Sneha. We just saw Manjula and Charmme share a good chemistry in Kavya's Diary, one hopes this one too makes a pleasant watch. Sneha will be looking to something versatile after Pandurangadu, one project Neelo Naalo with Shaam is on. Bhumika could do well with much better films rather than Naa Style Veru or Mallepuvvu in which she merely looked like a set property.

Success Meet Only For Flops

Ravi Babu's Amaravathi, Holidays, Vesavi Selavullo, Aarya II, Keechakudu, Tejam are some of the films which are either on the sets or about to wind-up production. Around thirty films are scheduled for release this month, they include all the small and big budget movies. But how many of them are really breaking even or making profit? Films like Junction, Evaraina Epudaina, Oy, Current are on a publicity blitzkrieg..summoning media people to talk about their successful films and to celebrate their so called success the third day of the film's release. A senior media man says, "Success meets are only for flop movies. Have we ever attended a success meet for Arundathi or Kick? A film that is doing well at the BO needs no publicity." True to what he said the producers are resorting to various marketing strategies like sending heroes to meet students in colleges, lucky dip, dine with the hero or heroine, etc. But aren't the public smart enough to see through the clever filmmakers?

Kalavaramaye Madilo's Silent Climb

This is one film even without it's release is generating a good talk. The censoring of the film is done, the film has been previewed to quite a few people in the industry and those distributors and producers friends who have seen the film have certified it as an average and an above average movie. Whatever the fate of the film, the unanimous talk is that Swathi has arrived. The lady who did a decent job in Ashta Chamma was supposed to have made a good impact but the way she was presented did not zoom her image as expected. Next, the man who can possibly tilt the fortune for his cast Kamal Kamaraju, Swathi and the producer is the low-profile director Satish Kasetty. After making a film Hope which was aimed at the film festivals, he embarked on this commercial film for which there were not many takers for the story, Dil Raju and a leading production house notwithstanding. All said and done, the film aficionados are starved for good movies and films hopefully like this one might give one their penny's worth of entertainment.

Want To Work With Gopichand

Prabhas is busy for the next couple of years, he has his priorities clearly chalked out, no overtly sentimental and weepy stories for him, he wants all action and entertainment with the right quantity of love. Also he is willing to squeeze in a project if someone comes up with a beatific script etched out with Gopichand and himself in mind. He says he is open to multi-starrers and would love to work with Gopichand, as he shares a good rapport with him. Gopichand will be back sometime soon this month, he's away abroad for a song shoot. He has been reportedly telling filmmakers that he is looking for a comedy and an entertaining subject and wants to take a break for a while from the regular mass action films he is known for. So budding writers or those who have something 'different' can approach these two tall heroes.

"Senior Comedians Are An Asset"

"It has a nice message accompanied with humour," says director YS Naidu who's handling Pandavulu. The shooting of this youth-centric film is going on in Macherla and will probably get over by the end of this month. The audio will be out in the second half of August and the film will be released in September. Made on Shankari Art Creations banner, it has Yathiraju and Snehika in the lead roles and is produced by N. Lakshmana Rao and Y. Srinivasa Rao. Senior comedians are the asset and songs will be the highlight they add. Raghava, Thadivelu, Murthy, Bhagavan, Bhanu, Ali, Venu Madhav, Kondavalasa, Allari Subhashini, MS Narayana are the supporting cast. Music is by Gorantla Krishna.

Never Too Late To Learn

Suresh Babu is doing a great favour for the Telugu film industry by running a film school. He said he had learnt many things and declares there is so much to learn. For all those who want to learn ABCs of Film Making, are not willing to cross the borders we have Ramanaidu Film School in our very own Hyderabad, with top class professors, trained lecturers, stalwarts from the industry giving their first-hand inputs on filmmaking. Filmmakers like MS Raju, Ghattamaneni Ramesh Babu, Danayya who are used to spending money lavishly can infact join such courses and set an example for the rest of the industry folk by learning the production modules. There will be courses for film appreciation too so reviewers can learn to appreciate a film in a structured format. Suresh says the industry predominantly thrives on experience and if a bit of education could be added, TFI wouldn't be far from reaching the Oscar. Applications are being invited, a fresh batch had begun, the previous batch is brimming with confidence, happiness for being able to grab the nuances of filmmaking at one spot. A student who is doing a course in Screen Writing and Direction at Ramanaidu Film School says that he couldn't have asked for more. He adds, "Ramanaidu Studios and Suresh Productions has got, 40 years in the industry, it is located in a studio which has made us more interested, practically and theoretically. We had an opportunity to see shootings for 15 to 20 days in a month. Floors are nearby, prime focus, colour labs..everything." Suresh says by the end of the semester, all of them will be placed either with him or with his friends. The media were taken on a tour of the class rooms, the infrastructure, library, etc. There is going to be a talent bank soon for music, lyrics, character actors and one can source talent.

Five And A Half Crore On Samrajyam

This is one press meet that the hero arrived on time. Srihari came and waited for the media to have their brunch. One starved media person couldn't control his hunger pangs, he lifted the lids of the dishes to see what was laid for him and almost attacked the lavish spread as soon as he arrived. Srihari was in no hurry to talk and was a picture of patience, it was like almost he's used to the media's ways. Muthyala Anjeneyulu played a perfect host, a perfect producer spending five and a half crore on his Samrajyam as the budget but all his pain vanished when Suman showered compliments on him that worked as an ointment. What did Muthyala Anjeneyulu, the producer say? "I have given a musical hit Girl Friend and another Seema Sastry. We felt Srihari suited the subject well, this is a different point in a faction film." How did Veeru Dwait direct the movie, the producer replies, "Parvaledhu, teesaadu!" and adds this film will definitely reach all sections of the audience.

You Scratch My Back, I Scratch Yours

We have seen many audio releases of late that had one person showering praises on the other and vice versa, ad nauseum. This press meet that was held this morning at FNCC had Suman speaking highly of his producer Anjaneyulu. He said that the producer went all out of his way to ensure the speedy completion of his film despite the budget going a bit out of limit. He cited various examples like the downpour that began after the shooting started, sets being relocated to RFC, and the producer never compromising on anything, etc. etc. Though the film was a regular faction story, it had a different point, and that was the rivalry between two brothers, father-son and the role of women in faction families, sister affection. Srihari gives a beautiful message in the end, there will be a love track, a comedy track and finally there is Jayaprakash Reddy too. God, does that mean the audience will have to put up with a high decibel level once more?

Extraordinary Reception When I Killed Her

So is Srihari killing his father in Samrajyam? The actor said he'd got an extraordinary response even though a negative shade, when he killed his sister in Sivayya. Here he says there will be a fight between brothers, fight between father and son and Nisha Kothari will play villain throughout but her character will be let out in the climax. But what evoked humour was when he said that he wondered if this producer could make a film otherwise his (Srihari's) name ran a risk of getting spoilt. Srihari's idea of doing films such as this and at the same time working as a character artiste, comedian is praiseworthy. Above all his humane quality of adopting two villages needs to be applauded, he's definitely on the right track playing a neat reel life and real life role.

Vennela Kishore - "It's Like Chewing Cud"

Vennela fame Kishore had recently appeared in a friend's role in Current as Bose. His recent movies were Indumati, Snehageetham and Samardhudu. The last two are in production. Kishore says he knew Suman Pathuri from Vennela days when Suman worked as a co-director and thinks Suman is the youngest director in Telugu film industry. The script has been reportedly given by '99' director Raj DK who made Flavours and with whom Suman had worked with. Kalyan Palla is the producer. It's the story of seven friends who want to do something that they had left out in college, it's like chewing cud..reminds one of the characters in Main Hoon Na.

Saandip Sings And Acts

Playback singer Saandip (note how his name is spelt, nothing to do with numerology. He says his name is derived from the word Saandip who is Lord Krishna's guru) has 60 odd numbers to his credit. He had sung and acted in Premayanamaha. For Saandip music is his first love and he started his career in movies in 2001. He says in 'Inkosari' he has a unique role to play along with other co-stars. What's being picturised now at Sarathi Studios is a college scene, the story of how friends meet years after college and how they fulfill their wishes.

Ravi Verma Returns, Raja Turns Young

Ravi Verma, who had last been seen in Classmates produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore is back from the US. He is playing one of the friends in 'Inkosari'. Manjari is paired with Raja and there's Richa Pallod too who looks very slim now. Inkosari title has been released this evening by Bay Movies. Raja says this film is about friends who think that it would be great if they get a chance to change or do something in life after college and they work towards it. Most of the Vennela team has been repeated here, all below 30, young, fresh and hopes that it will be accepted by the young crowd, it will be a fresh breath of air. Raja adds that just like Anand, this film will be liked by everyone. Everyone has been asking Raja why he is not doing youth-centric films of late, so this movie will have Raja don a youth's role. The film also dwells on friendship.

Gayatri Rao's Suspense Thriller

Once 'Gayatri' releases you'll stop calling this young lady Appu. Gayatri Rao who played Appu in Happy Days is coming soon as Gayatri, in a title role that carries her name. An added bonus, the film is women-centric what else can an upcoming actress ask for? Her parents who are from the industry have given her a steady, down-to-earth upbringing. Gayatri who has just given her 12th exams has decided to make films as her career though she is mulling over doing a course in Tourism. She says she wants to be selective about her roles and doesn't want to end up as another actress who is one amongst the ten. That is the reason as to why she rejected many offers after Happy Days. The actress says she had long hair but had to chop her tresses off and put on some weight for the film as Sekhar Kammula conceived her in that role that way. She prefers to forget Ek Police because that is not what exactly she was told that she would do but adds that it might help her nevertheless as a learning experience. Her film Gayatri is in the post-production stage, it has artiste Nagabhushanam's grandson Bhushan making his debut. There are many senior artistes she had worked with and finds it pleasure to be in their company.

Ramdev In August First Week

Aakash's Sweet Heart bites dust but there is reprieve for him. His movie Ramdev directed by SK Basheed is due for release. The film has Abbas, Saikiran, Gracy Singh, Archana in supporting roles. The director who makes his debut says the film is being made on a massive budget and at the moment they are getting ready to move to Goa to picturise two songs after which they plan to hold the audio function. Another song will be canned in Hyderabad and they are going to put up a big set. Dubbing is done. Producer Karimunnisa says the film is being made with a 'different concept' with all regular elements like love, action, and family sentiment.

Entertainment Tax Waived For Ningi Nela Naade

The movie from Beijing 'Invisible Wings' which has been dubbed as Ningi Nela Naade gets a waiver on the entertainment tax to enable a lot more people to see it. Twenty five percent of it will be waived. The movie is about a Chinese girl Zihua who loses her arms but doesn't let her mind handicap her. She goes on to do normal household chores and becomes a swimming champion and secures an admission in medicine in the university. The filmmakers are planning to exhibit the movie to school going kids for it's inspirational subject and universal appeal. The producer Chava Sudharani had thanked the Chief Minister for being generous and helping the film reach as many as people as possible.

Sesh Adivi's Thriller Karma

Now another Adivi is in the news. Former Mr. India San Francisco, Adivi Sesh is acting in the lead role and directing a film Karma. Hollywood actress Jade Tailor and newcomer Sher Ali play the other two major leads. Sesh had shot a helicopter sequence on the historical Bixby American Bridge, its nearby mountains and the famous coastline of Santa Cruz, California recently for this thriller. Adlabs USA has already bought the theatrical rights for the US market. Meanwhile Saikiran Adivi is directing a sequel to his hit, 'Vinayakudu'. The supporting cast and crew of Sesh Adivi's film are Bhavani Adivi, Harsh Singh, Sher Ali who are producing it, cinematography is by James Laxton, music is by Leland Thunes (background score), lyrics by Kavi.

Shaam Wraps Up Veedu Manavade

Shaam who played the smart cop's role in Kick is winding up his work in his second Telugu film Veedu Manavade. Mallika Kapoor is the heroine and it is directed by Netaji on Annam Films International banner. The story is about a small boy who is found on a sea shore. How the villagers bring him up and what does this boy do when he grows up to be a man for the village, villagers? The film was shot mostly in Hyderabad and Machilipatnam. The five songs were shot in Kulu Manali, Talakona, Tutukudi, Kanyakumari. At the moment the final mixing is on at Prasad Labs. The director says the film's release and audio release is scheduled for this month. Dialogues are by Lata Netaji, music is by Dina and produced by C. Vijaykumar.

Shaft Launches Their Production Unit

The animation studio Shaft launched yet another new production unit VFX Production House in Ameerpet. This coincides with the first anniversary celebrations. Film actor Nikhil inaugurated the production unit and Managing Director Geetha Menon of Sakshi lit the lamp. Gemini Kiran inaugurated the film editing division and the anniversary cake was cut by Shaft MD Pushpa Reddy. Pushpa handed over the mementoes to the chief guests and the students were awarded by the former. An announcement to this effect was made by Pushpa and she added that along with the specialization in multimedia, the Shaft supports academics in multimedia like computer graphics and animation from Board of Intermediate and B.Sc in Visual Communications degree from Annamalai University.

A Grand Release For Kamal Hassan

Right now the dubbing of Eenadu is on. The film which is slated for release on August 12th will coincide with Kamal Hassan's 50th year in film industry. The golden jubilee celebrations will take place on that day in Chennai and stalwarts from the industry from both Tamil and Telugu and may be celebrities from all the languages who worked with Kamal will be invited. Shri Abdul Kalam, Shri Karunanidhi, etc., all will be the chief guests. Currently the ground where the function will be held is being finalized. What a great movie to work in that will be remembered for posterity. TV9 has taken the rights for the telecast and it will promote the movie.

"I Want To Put The Passport Issue Behind" - Mayuri

She is articulate, she is eloquent and is very clear about what she wants in life. Flora who became Asha Saini for the Telugu screen has been rechristened Mayuri. "Yes, I do believe a bit in astrology, some guiding force," she tells CineGoer.com. Tell her she has been more infamous than famous, the actress agrees. "I want to put that passport issue behind. All that the newspapers published were baseless and false..that I had taken girls to the US illegally. It's unfair to implicate people in false charges and imprison them. My mistake was to trust that Venkat Reddy who was in-charge of the travelling stuff and worked with one popular actor in the industry. When he asked me if I wanted to go to the US, I said yes, why not and gave him my passport and that's it. The next thing I knew was something baffling. I didn't enquire who he was, all I knew was that he worked for many industry people. There were so many people in the jail for these reasons, and they are not being talked about because they aren't celebs." Mayuri says, "Everything happens for the good, I know now who my real friends are, lot of industry people gave me moral support and I don't want to take their names." Mayuri had done one item song in Junction, why did she do that? She says, "When I signed the film I was told I'll be playing a vital role. Then the script changed, the director changed and they just retained the number." Well, Mayuri plans to put all those things behind and start her career fresh. She is indebted to Chinna for giving such an important role in Aa Intlo. It was supposed to be done by Meena but in the last minute she was replaced by Mayuri. The actress says watch out for the climax it is my favourite. Apparently Chinna has put up a set worth 20 lakhs in Film City for the climax.

NTR In Vaishnavi Arts Shooting

NTR's new film begins non-stop from today. It is directed by VV Vinayak, produced by Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan, and presented by Kodali Nani. For Vinayak, this is the third film with NTR the first two being Aadi and Sambha. The producer says that the film will release on October 14th worldwide and will become a landmark in NTR's career. Nayanatara and Sheela are the heroines. Kona Venkat is writing the dialogues, music is by Devisri Prasad, photography Chota K. Naidu. Songs written by Chandrabose. This film apparently becomes the most-awaited film as NTR had taken a break during election from his project. Vamsi Krishna and Kaveri Jha's film Ooha Chitram is releasing on July 10th. The film is produced by K. Paidubabu on Likhit Arts banner. Satya, a debutant director handles this film. The producer says the film has a different concept and is confident that people would make it a success. The story, set against a city backdrop, is termed as a romantic thriller. For Vamsi Krishna, this film is the first as a solo hero. The filmmaker adds that despite this film being touted as a thriller it has all ingredients like sentiment, action and a dose of humour to entertain the audiences and the lead pair have done a fabulous job like experienced artistes, the director has delivered goods as expected.
