Small businesses are normally privately owned corporations, partnerships, or sole proprietorships and not state-owned enterprises. In my country (Indonesia) mostly the ownership of small businesses is sole proprietorships and many of them does not have a legal entity – independent. There are advantages and disadvantages of doesn’t have a legal entity. The advantages is because of that, the small business not charged taxes so they can create products with low production costs so they can sell their products more cheap. But the disadvantages is they are difficult to obtain bank capital.

However, because they are difficult to obtain bank capital, in monetary crisis that experienced by my country in 1997-1998. Many small business can survive because deterioration of the banking sector and the rising of interest rates not much affect this sector. They are not affected because there are no capital flows from banks. And the most important thing from their survive is no employees layoffs. Though indeed the average employees of small business in my country is fewer than 15 employees.

Still, to make more employees, profit and benefit – small business development is very important. So, the answer of my question in the first paragraph is YES! Then, the second question is how to develop the small businesses?

Mostly small businesses doing their activities with traditional stuff from productions, promotions and selling. However, if small businesses doing production with traditional goods – difficult to change because if want took a change with modern goods there will be a lot of capitals. But, they are sophisticated ways and low costs – what it is? Of course the internet (online shop), spread the promotion and selling throughout country or even the world.

So the answer of my second question is utilizing the internet media can develop the small business development.
