So I moved again

I finally moved to another location in Paris for one month. Then I will have to move again to another place for another month in the suburb…

In the meatime my apartment will be entirely redesigned. Hopefully it will only take two months, or I will have to find the best bridge to sleep under around here…

Of course there are many things to organize, and it totally broke my recording plans. Well, just have to wait for the summer now…

I shot some photos of the apartment, quite fun to see it like that :

And probably a way to compensate, but I got a new toy. A Teenage Engineering OP-1. I’m slowly into learning how to use it. It’s really small (same width as a 11 inch macbook air), but quite impressive sonically… A new sound for the next album ? we’ll see…

Maybe a centerpiece, actually.

Anywhen The Opiates

Ten years I own this album from Anywhen, The Opiates. Re released by David Sylvian’s label, Samadhisound, under the name Thomas Feiner & Anywhen.

It’s Thomas’ birthday today, so I couldn’t help taking a couple of pics of this album I listened to so many times.

Many strings, a broody and warm voice for a dark and melancholic album. Not surprised some of my friends I met on internet are absolute fans. I can’t help thinking about Maria Cristina, of course, who decided to shoot all those beautiful videos.

Happy birthday, Mr Feiner, and thanks a lot for this beautiful masterpiece.

More about the Lamb remix

I noticed the Lamb remix competition just before going to Sweden, and found it cool to try and do something. So I started to work on it since I came back, and it took me less time than I expected. Guess I’m into “recording” mode since I worked on the Cure cover, and I probably got rid of the main issues.

One thing I noticed is I spent less time than usual on guitars. Well, I actually just bought a new, amazing one, a Gibson ES-339, after struggling a little bit with the sounds of my older one. Can’t believe how easy it is now to get a good sound. I love this new guitar, expect to hear it a lot in the next release. And it’s beautiful !

So here is that remix of Butterfly Effect by Lamb :

There were different audio tracks to choose from, but I finally decided to use only one, the main vocals, and then build something around. And I even sang.

Also made an artwork, as usual, and for the first time I chose an old picture I already published a while back. Because of a part of the lyrics, “and all the world will know”, I found it clear this one fitted the mood.

Because of the contest rules, I’m not allowed to set it as a free download, unfortunately. And well, the chances to win such a contest are thin, my version is not into an electronic genre, there are already more than 300 entries, some of them are really brilliant.

Just hope you’re going to like that version, mainly…

Now I’m done with cover songs and remixes, which are of course a great training, maybe I’m up to finally start and record that Autumn Fears album ! GO !
