i went 64 bit when i upgraded. I thought I was being clever but I have had a few problems with drivers and things like that. It kind of makes me wish I had just got the normal version but I suppose its not MS fault that other companies have not yet released new drivers

I'm using the contact form on my site. I didn't know about the redirection plugin. I'm only doing it manually by coding a redirection script to each and every outgoing link I make. This is a great information and will save me time just using that plugin.

Thanks for these useful tips. I'm planning to switch to Windows 7 in a month and I think it's a good idea to have 64 bit while upgrading.

Everybody thinks that Norton is a great anti virus but for me it's not, it chunks too many memory on your computer and always annoys you of updating and constant software change.

Thank you for this excellent list. I use about half of the programs you've recommended and will certainly be trying out the rest. People just don't realize how much quality freeware/shareware is available that perform the same functions (often better) than popular, expensive commercial packages. The whole adware/spyware/malware, etc. is particularly prone to this. Ever put Norton or McAfee on your computer. It's virtually impossible to completely clean these programs off. Thanks.

You're right I didn't realise my Core 2 was 64 bit! I'm currently running Win XP on it but I don't think I'll bother upgrading as it does pretty much what I want anyway. Besides, I've got access to a Win 7 laptop when I need to.

I have also asked them about PIFTS but I got no reply. I still trust Symantec though even if this thing happened.
