With the world’s ever-increasing demand of power being more than its supply, it is about time that we take concrete steps to save power. Apart from being conscious about the usage of power and water at home, one can employ pollution-free and cost-effective power solutions at our homes. Solar power solutions and wind power solutions are the two of the most efficient solutions that can replace the conventional power solutions employed at our homes.

These solutions can help you combat power outages, reduce your electricity bills, and also help the environment.

This article will explore the cost-effective wind power solution that you can employ at home.

Wind power solutions work best when the following conditions are met:
• You have a house or farmhouse spread over a big area. Typically, wind power solutions are employed in areas that spread over an acre.
• The average wind speed in your area is around 11 miles per hour. If you stay in a place that has little wind flow, your system will not work. Consult an expert before installing the wind power solution at home.
• You need to draw water from external sources. You can install a wind power system even when you do not need to draw water from outside. However, if you need to draw water from outside on a regular basis, a wind power system offers the best solution.
• Your house needs a lot of uninterrupted power supply. Combating those power outages is easy with the pollution-free wind power systems. You need no longer worry about a break in your work because of a power uncertainty.

A typical wind power system comprises of a tower and five blades to churn out wind energy. The length of the wind tower varies depending on the location of your house. You may need a longer tower if you are in low-wind zone; you can work with a shorter tower if you live by the beach. Using a wind generator, this wind energy can be converted into useful electrical energy to be employed at home for running various electrical appliances. You can even store the power generated for later use, making wind generators more efficient than convention power systems.

If you are confused with the wind power jargon, here’s a piece of information for you. The terms, wind mills, wind turbines, and wind generators are used to refer to the same machine.

How are renewable and non-renewable energy sources diffrent?List two examples of each of these types of energy

I am glad you are interested in this question because it is important that we should reduce our reliance on non-renewable resources. Future generations will not thank us for wasting such resources.

Coal and oil are examples of non-renewable energy sources. They are fossil fuels obtained from the ground and were created millions of years ago during a phase in the earth’s development that is over. So as we use these resources less is available for the future. Furthermore burning fossil fuels creates pollution.
Solar panels and wind mills are examples of renewable resources because collecting such energy has little or no impact on its availability for the future.

But it may be worth pointing out that the term "renewable" is confusing. What we really mean is "sustainable".

Best wishes for a more sustainable future.

My friend and I have a science project for school and we want to build a model showing the different processes to create energy in a windmill. It shouldn’t really be that big. Also, we were looking up the process and it basically says that the wind turns the blade which is connected to some sort of drive shaft which goes to an electric generator. So, we were sort of confused on what an a drive shaft and electric generator were. In addition, if you know the process in more detail that would be a GREAT help! Thank you!

It is simple , and i will try to explain , driveshaft is the pin that holds the blades , a electric generater is like a electric engine , where you turn the blades and make power instead of using power to turn the blades .

in the back of your PC is a fan , that cools the Computer , a small 12 V engine that turns blades to make wind to keep your computer cool . ( just have a look ) it is normaly noisy so you can easly find it.

well a windmill is just like that , where the blades are slightly differend since you do not want to create wind , but you want the blades to turn the shaft that turns the generator

There is also plenty of debate & discussion on the differences & dis/advantages of vertical axis windmills versus regular wind turbines – maybe check out http://verticalaxiswindmills.com (the introduction to one such article is below):

"Horizontal axis wind turbine technology is likely to peak in the next few years, largely because of the limitations of the blades and their effects on the machine. Instead, we need to look back in history and concentrate on further developing the simpler design of vertical axis windmills. Without the same structural limitations, vertical axis windmills can be produced much larger and so take advantage of significant economies of scale."

For building your own wind generator or wind turbines, I’d suggest a look at http://diywindgenerators.com or some other "diy wind power" site – there are plenty to be found with web search.

What and how are renewable energy used for? Uses such as green cars, lighting and heating. Pleease help me by explaining in detail how and why it works.

Energy is simply energy – it is no colour. The green and alternative relate to how they are produced. So usually they will end up either as motive power for a vehicle or in the national grid along with all the non-green electricity made from coal. So what is it used for? The same as any other energy is used for.

There has been a lot of input stating that is is next to impossible to use a VA loan on a foreclosed properties. I am looking at bidding on a cabin at a great price and I have two main concerns.

First, the home may not qualify "as is" for a standard VA Loan for "Existing Construction" but couldn’t it qualify under the VA Loan’s "Proposed or Under Construction" category as an eligible property? That way any required repairs would be identified and the cost rolled into the loan?

The second concern is that the home is not hooked into standard electric utilities. It currently has a generator and a battery bank and I would install a residential windmill. The property has been surveyed as being in a commercial grade wind zone.

I know the property well and the opeing bid is half of the construction cost not to mention the 20 acres. Thank you for your input.
The plan would be that as "Proposed Construction" the cost of the windmill or other VA required power would be included in the loan. The 10% down at auction is not a problem. With a VA loan I would recover the 10% upon full payment. I would prefer to finance the entire amount and put the 10% into other new home costs.

In my area, Lots of homes outside the conventional power grid have been purchased using VA guaranteed loans. So I would say there is a way to purchase using renewable energy sources you list.

As for purchasing foreclosed homes, the only problem I can fore see is if the home is going up for auction and the amount of money needed is unknown or some other unforeseeable factor. If the home has already been through the auction and the deed is clear of clouds, it should be as simple as any other VA loan.

VA loans work like this. The VA guarantees the bank they will be paid back if they loan money to you. The only time the VA actually puts up the money for a loan is in a circumstance where the Veteran can’t get a conventional loan from a bank.

Have you contacted a Maine licensed electrician? There are pages and pages of information to be sent in to the public utilities commission before you can get a license, and an energy rebate for a home windmill. If you just want a decorative one, call some large garden centers.
