German website Optinal Mittlegrund had a few details about DCK in this interview with Giacomo from RareNoiseRecords.

Here are the details taken from the site regarding DCK, Buckethead and Bill Laswell:

[OM] What can you say about Death Cube K’s “Torn from Black Space”. As far as I know it was recorded some time ago but did not get released. Any background info would be fine. Are there any plans for new releases?

[Giacomo] Yes, it was the “unreleased” DCK. As far as new projects are concerned, I would be very interested, but I will be approaching Buckethead in future (or try to do so…) to discuss – we also would like to push the visual aspect of the DCK project, by getting the fan community involved in making dark videos to accompany the tracks…

[OM] Did you ever meet Buckethead in person? If so, what was it like?

[Giacomo] No, but I hope one day. I think he is amazing.

[OM] Can you tell me any news about Charged, a project by Eraldo, Laswell and Toshinori Kondo? Will there be any further releases?

[Giacomo] Yes, 2010, lineup of the record: Eraldo, Kondo, Laswell, Guy Licata, Ayib Dieng and Paolo Polcari (of Meditronica…)

I found this really well-written article about Buckethead over at the Listeningroom website. I manage to read quite a few articles written about Buckethead but most of them are either copies of the Wikipedia entry for Buckethead or just plain dull and boring.

This one however, is cool so I thought I would post it here. Whilst it doesn’t really reveal anything new about Buckethead as such, it does list Buckethead as one of the better guitarists around simply because he tends to fall ‘under-the-radar’. And that’s just plain cool in my book.

Here’s an excerpt from the article:

In 1992, he launched his recording career with Praxis, the first of several bands and side projects that Buckethead has launched over the years, augmenting his solo work.

But he remains an elusive and mysterious figure, guarding his identity and appearance in any public forum. Reportedly, he once missed out on a chance to join Ozzy Osbourne’s band at Ozzfest because he refused to perform without his trademark bucket and mask.

And the Buckethead character is something he takes a long way. The story he’s built around the persona is as bizarre as the costume: That he grew up abused on a farm and was forced to live in a chicken coop.

As any true Buckethead fan would know, Buckethead loves to collaborate with other musicians and his music can be found all over the place in very ‘hard-to’find’ places. So unless you’re really looking for everything he has released or gets involved in musically (or just reading alot like me lol), you’re probably gonna miss the smaller projects that sometimes go under the radar.

Well, have no fear because Bucketgirl is here to save the day (yes, I know that was hella cheesy, lol oh well)…:P

I located this article here on a jazz music reviewers blog and thought there’d be bots out there who would like to know about it if they didn’t already.

The album is called ‘Arc Of The Testimony’ and features long-time collaborator of Bucket’s Bill Laswell. Buckethead plays guitar on several tracks listed below:

While we all <3 Buckethead, not all of us are aspiring rock musicians or even able to play guitar! A perfect example of this is my own musical dabblings which started off with classical piano (both my parents were in bands so the music had to seep in there somewhere!) and now I play most of what I do by ear and alot of it isn’t rock

So, with that in mind, I found this YouTube user UnclassicalPiano hitting the ebony and ivory to Buckethead’s music! How cool is that?

But don’t take my word for it… check it out for yourself, this dude is awesome (and plays some of my most loved Buckethead tunes as well, bonus!)…

Buckethead and Guns N’ Roses sued

According to Reuters (a very good and credible source for news), Buckethead (named as Brian Carroll) along with previous Gn’R band members Tommy Stinson and Robin Finck are being sued by British label Independiente and the US branch of the Domino Recording Company for allegedly using portions of songs belonging to a German musician.

An excerpt from the article:

Singer Axl Rose and Guns N’ Roses band members and album producers copied portions of two of Schnauss’ songs — “Wherever You Are” and “A Strangely Isolated Place” — for a song used on the band’s last album called “Riad N’ the Bedouins,” according to the lawsuit.

Buckethead review at the Vic Theatre 18/09/09

Buckethead articles are finding their way onto the internet alot quicker these days and more frequently too – which of course, for fans like us is awesome!

Here’s an excerpt of a rather good if not brief review of Buckethead’s show (with Wolff) at the Vic Theatre in Chicago on the 18th of September, 2009. Review also features some very nice pics of Buckethead on stage:

Chants of “Buckethead” broke out on numerous times. Once Buckethead’s familiar introduction of carnival music blasted on the P.A. the crowd exploded and the house lights dropped. Energy soared as the giant masked musician soon took the stage, sporting his usual white Les Paul guitar, expressionless white mask, and trademark white fried-chicken bucket on his head.

Elijah Wood talks Buckethead

Actor Elijah Wood recently met Buckethead after an outing with Viggo Mortensen. Elijah along with Viggo, Dominique Monaghan and Billy Boyd went along to the recording studio where Buckethead and Viggo were working. In a recent interview with hmonthly magazine, he had this to say about the experience:

But this isn’t entirely true, Elijah did lend some audio bonking to Viggo Mortensen’s recent outing with guitar virtuoso, Buckethead. Elijah grins widely, “We had done an interview for Lord of the Rings, myself, Dominique Monaghan, Billy Boyd, and Viggo – I think we were at a laser tag place. After the interview, Viggo was like, ‘Hey, do you want to come out to The Valley and come check out the studio where I’ve been recording with Buckethead?’ So we get out there and he was like, ‘Hey, do you guys want to play around and just jam and we’ll see what we can do?’ So we all just took turns with different instruments – some more rudimentary than others, but it was really fun and Buckethead was amazing.”

Lance Armstrong likes Buckethead

The cost of hosting BHO

Since my blogs have been picking up a little popularity over the last six months, I have had to consider either taking down my websites entirely or searching out ways to generate revenue from my blogs.

I don’t want to take my Buckethead blog down because I happen to love what I do and I enjoy sharing what I find and know about Buckethead with his fans.

So drastic measures must be considered my fellow bots. There are a few methods alot of blogs employ to try and generate revenue, everything from using services such as inlinks which link to other websites (I tried this and didn’t like it, nor did it actually generate revenue), Google ads (tried this too and same problem there), outright cyber-begging by setting up a Paypal account for donations (I’m a struggling writer but I’m not that bad off… well, not yet anyway) or sites like Blogvertise.

I’ve decided to go with blogvertise. I just thought I would post ahead so regular readers will understand why a random blog entry that isn’t related to Buckethead is now appearing on my blog. Sorry everyone, but that’s the price for keeping the site hosted. I’ll try to keep the non-Buckethead blog posts down to a minimum.
