Bryce Durafourt is a politician and medical student in Montréal, Québec. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Honours Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University in 2009. Following the completion of his Master’s of Science degree in Neuroscience, which he obtained under the supervision of Dr. Jack Antel at the Montréal Neurological Institute in 2011, he began his studies in the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.

Durafourt has had a passion for politics since he was old enough to vote: at the age of 18, he ran for Montréal city councillor in Saint-Laurent during the 2005 municipal elections. He went on to run for English Montréal School Board commissioner in 2007, and again for Montréal city councillor in the 2009 municipal elections. As an independent candidate, Durafourt garnered more than 6% of the vote in the 2009 election. Most recently, he was Projet Montréal’s candidate in the November 2010 by-election for Montréal city councillor in the Cte-de-Liesse district of Saint-Laurent, where he obtained 11% of the vote. He enjoys meeting residents and proposing solutions to local problems, and hopes to build on his experiences in future campaigns.

When taking a break from his educational and political life, Durafourt enjoys being on the water. He taught sailing lessons as the head instructor at the Baie d’Urfé Yacht Club for a number of summers, and now volunteers with the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary. He also enjoys biking, and during the winter months is involved in curling at a competitive level.
