I'm not sure this falls into what most would call a valiant effort. However, our beloved Yankees did only lose by 2 runs. Plus in all fairness their line-up wasn't exactly star studded. For a complete look at how it when down check out the box score below and as always....Go YANKEES!

Between the two leagues there are renowned baseball teams. However, When you pair greatest game in the world with one of the largest cities in the world the answer is the New York Yankees. The Yankees may very well make a case for the team of the decade if they are to find a way to break through and win the World Series. Despite the slow start that plagued the Yankees last season, people still bet on them and their juice is always ridiculous.

The Yankees might be able to make it to get the job done if they can keep some of the top end paid players, signing a few recruits and maintain their coaching staff. With 27 championships below their belt and 40 American League pennants, they can are America's baseball team!

When I was a kid, my parents took me to New York and we saw the Yankees beat the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. Although those were great times, I don't think that greatness is over. In fact, I'm particularly interested in this year despite the criticism the team has received in media. It's undeniable that George Steinbrenner was doing something right to have his team win as many titles. It's because of this heritage and the 2012 team motto heroes remembered, legends born, that I put them on top of the American league come year's end.

Currently, the Yankess are sitting in 3rd behind Boston and Baltimore with a record of 18 wins and 12 losses. With a win against Colorado tonight and a few next week the Yankees may be able to close the gap and become the front runner. Then hopefully, Alex Rodriguez can recover from hip surgery and make it back in time for the playoffs. Rodriguez has taken some deserving criticism over the years, but he is always one swing away from putting himself into Yankee greatness.
