Sensitive teeth can be a major headache for anyone who suffers from the problem, but the pain can be stopped if you follow some tips.

The pain we experience when we have sensitive teeth is commonly caused by the enamel coating deteriorating. Reducing the amount of sugar you eat is one way to stop the enamel further deteriorating. And keeping an eye on your whole diet is always a good idea.

We all have drinks machines at work but choosing to have no sugar in our tea or coffee is a great way to reduce the amount of sugar we consume. Flavia drink machines give users the option of choosing whether you have sugar in your drink or not so are a good choice.

Changing the types of snacks you have at work is also a good idea. Instead of having a processed snack having fruit as an alternative is a great idea.

Using a sensitive toothpaste is also a good idea. Sensitive toothpaste is a special type of people used by individuals who have sensitive teeth. The toothpaste helps null the pain the individual will feel when brushing or chewing with that tooth or teeth, as the connection between the nerve and the pain is temporarily stopped. Secondly, it helps layer enamel, the white coating which the tooth has. The toothpaste itself usually tastes very hard and harsh, due to the extra chemicals and smoothness it has. They can be bought in tubes of push up tubes, and can also be found at certain dentists (though they are usually much smaller tubes than those bought in the shops).

Only the most honest of us will admit to having a sweet tooth. A sweet tooth is where we have a fairly large appetite for sweet food, which in turn, effects our teeth. The more sugary food that we have eat, the more plaque is attracted and thus the easier it is for the tooth corrodes. This can be combated by eating foods with less sugar, or sweet foods with no sugar. Also, brushing our teeth twice a day can keep them clean and looking fresh, whilst also taking care of any plaque, as well as keeping them whiter than not.

When our teeth erode to a far point, we need to get that tooth capped. Teeth are not actually made of bone, as many may think, and are as such vulnerable to breaking compared to the strong structure of the bone. Teeth can break even if looked after, though usually a breakage will occur if they are not looked after. If a tooth does receive a fair amount of damage, then that tooth needs to be capped. A cap is almost a false tooth, over the remains of the damaged tooth, and thus allows us to chew properly (as well as prevent plaque from damaging the tooth further).

When we slightly damage our teeth, we need it sorted out. The process in which to restore the tooth is called ‘filling’ The replacement itself is also called a filling. It is called a filling due to the fact it ‘fills’ the gap between the breakage and where the remainder of the tooth used to be. A slightly damaged tooth is called a ‘chipped tooth’, due to the fact the tooth looks as if it has a small chip taken out of it. Filling a tooth is a simple and quick process at the dentists, although the filling may not be permanent.

Many people believe that brushing their teeth is enough. Most do it twice a day, with a regular toothbrush or an electric one. This is the main form of keeping our teeth clean, however, it isn’t the only one. The gap between each tooth is hard to get to, due to how thin it is. A motion called flossing can help this. Flossing is simply a very thin piece of string, placed in between the gap and rubbed side to side, which is a process called ‘flossed’. Flossing may also maintain better breath, as plaque caught between our teeth if not caught in brushing, will continue to flourish.

All of us have to go to the dentists. We may be as fit as the best athletes in the world, and as active as the most sporty amongst us, but if we don’t go to the dentist, then our teeth will eventually fall apart and corrode, leaving us less attractive. A second helping to keep our teeth white, is by using white-coloured toothpaste. It is a specific type of toothpaste which helps bring the enamel out more in the tooth, this making them appear whiter, and removing the yellowish teeth which we gain via not enough brushing teeth etc.

There are two types of dentists you can visit, you can either go to a private dentist or an NHS dentist. The ideal number of times you should visit your dentist is every 6 months for a check up – don’t fall behind otherwise you run the risk of your teeth falling out!

Dental fees vary significantly between the different practices throughout the UK. You may pay a high price but may receive high quality dental work. In contrast to this, you may pay a cheaper price and still get very high quality dental care. It is always better to brush your teeth regularly to ensure that when you do have to go to the dentist, you have to pay for as little work as necessary as you have looked after you teeth and you do not require any fillings.

I have an NHS dentist and (touch wood) I have never had any problems what so ever with them. Previously many people have had problems finding an NHS dentist because NHS dentists are in very short supply and the surgeries were all filled up with the maximum number of patients.

Last time I went to the dentist I just had a check up and did not require any treatment (because I brush my teeth morning and night) therefore the cost of my dentist visit was £16. I think this is slightly expensive for some man to poke around in my mouth for a few minutes. Nonetheless, it is a price I am willing to pay because I hate having toothache!

It is essential for human beings to have teeth because teeth allow people to chew food so that it is made smaller and more manageable and can then easily pass through the oesophagus and into the digestive system. The majority of us, unless you are a vegetarian, eat meat nearly every day – which makes us omnivores as we can eat meat and plants.

Your canine teeth allow you to tear meat. Alternatively we can chew and pulverize plant food ie salads etc using our molars which are the flatter teeth at the back of your mouth. You need teeth because if you didn’t have any you would only be able to eat small food or food that had been mashed up that you could eat without chewing.

My sister has just had a baby, in fact it was a while ago now and my baby nephew is just getting his baby teeth through and he is screaming the house down. Teething can be very painful for children, however it can be more painful to grow up with rotten teeth because your parents have not brought you up to have good oral health.

Integrating brushing teeth into a routine is really easy. It should be included morning and night. So when parents are getting their children ready for school, time should be made to brush teeth and then in the evenings before bed, the teeth should be brushed to avoid having to go to the dentist for fillings which can be a traumatic experience!
