For those who celebrate the holiday of overeating (and giving thanks), have a great Thanksgiving and a wonderful time with family and friends this week.

On the plus side, they cared enough to build a wall for him.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted here.  I’ve been busy with work and a few other projects (along with a novel, a Brat-halla text-based adventure game, print volume 2 of Brat-halla and a print volume of our Spook’d webcomic) and Seth has been busy working on a fun comic for Image called Xenoholics (by him and our friend Joshua Williamson).

But things are finally beginning to slow down all around to where I’m able to finally make an appearance this year (I’ve had to cancel three other conventions this year due to conflicts with work and personal issues).  I’ll be at the Austin Comic Con this weekend (November 19th-21st Edit: November 11th-13th… been so busy I’m even mixing up dates for events now) at Artist Alley table 2412.  I’ll be there with my 10-year old daughter (the co-creator of the Backup Dad storyline) who will be selling sketch cards.

Seen above are some samples she drew this week in preparation for the show–Odineye, She-Hulk (and Lawyer She-Hulk), Batgirl, Blue Devil, DragonMan, and a custom character she created.  If you’re in the Austin area or within driving distance, be sure to stop by and chat.

Well, the day job’s still hectic for me, but not as bad as it had been in recent months.  For now, I’m gonna do my best to keep Hod‘s Comic going.  It’ll be once a week until I get a buffer built up, but my goal is to get it up to multiple updates a week. 

As readers, do you have any problems with it running here while the main comic is still on its indefinite hiatus or would you prefer a different website for it?

Post-Traumatic Tech Disorder

But the day jobs have taken a toll (at least for me… and I haven’t been able to find time when Seth’s been available to chat with him for nearly 3 weeks now), so as I’ve had free time creep back into my schedule, I’ve been having to focus more and more on my health.  It’s nothing immediately life-threatening, but if I don’t take care of it now, it will be.  Luckily, I’ve been making progress as my cholesterol has dropped from "how can you not be dead" levels to "you might be able to live with those levels" in a little over a month’s time (with the help of diet, exercise, medication, positive thinking and a supportive family… "drop and give me 20 dad!").

During the current hiatus though, I have been able to slowly pick away at the Brat-halla: Volume 2 and Volume 3 trades here-and-there, so I’m hoping to have one of those ready in time for the holidays.  I’ll try my best to keep everyone in the loop.

Personal issues are at the root cause of this hiatus, but our little website here has needed some work for a while… I actually spend more time keeping things up-and-running (smoothly) and fixing broken pieces here at the Brat-halla website than I have time to work on writing for the site.  I’m hoping the redesign and recoding of things will switch that around.

Hmm… I think some of those boys are faking those injuries.
