Exeter Dance Festival

Exeter Dance Festival offers a spectacular week of ballet, modern dance, tap, character and song and dance competition. Whether you are a participant or observer, this is the highlight of the dance calendar.

My Daughter competed in this Festival last week and worked very hard during all her disciplines.
Courtney dances at June Hornby's dance studio in Weymouth and she competed in the following disciplines.

Scottish
Song and Dance
Greek

It was great experience for her and her top placing was a 2nd in Modern. Please see a few photos of her in costume.

Help for Heroes Modern Jive Success

A Modern Jive Dancing event held at Wincanton was a great success and at the same time raising money for our wounded soldiers.

Amanda and Simon who run Mad about Dance said:

A HUGE thank you to all those who came to our 2008 Christmas Bash making it such a fabulous event.

From the raffle, MAD merchandise sales and the donation from Born to Dance shoes, we raised £163 for the charity Help For Heroes.

We’ve had very positive feedback and are delighted to hear that everyone had a such a great time.

RAD Pre-Primary in Dance and Primary in Dance

From January 2009, the Royal Academy of Dance is replacing its current Pre-Primary and Primary syllabi with two new syllabi which have been devised to provide a strong foundation for future dance training that is appropriate and relevant to young children of today. Fun to do and rewarding to teach, these syllabi help to develop children's physical skills, stamina, creativity, and expression and musicality using a range of sounds and musical styles.

Improperly fitting shoes will cause painful sores and blisters, pains in the calves and hips, as well as cause backaches and other aliments due to stress inflicted on the spine from a bad pair of shoes. In addition, the wrong type of shoe for choice of dance style is also a sure guarantee for failure.

Thankfully, there is an easy solution to this problem and it is called getting professionally fitted for the proper dance shoes suited to your particular style of dance. Once you have been fitted, you can always search the internet for the style of shoes you want. Then there is ballroom and its many wonderful off spring with the likes of the rhythmic salsa and the inspired ceroc style which has developed over two decades and is a delicious fusion of hip-hop, salsa and others.
