BACKUP YOUR STORIES!

I've been repeating that for the last couple of years. Maybe I should add, BACKUP AT MULTIPLE PLACES! REGULARLY!

And FF.net stopped the M-stories purge already! or did they?

Now this is the bit I'm yelling about - if people don't do backup of their files regularly, and the fiasco at ff.net happens again, it's going to be another round of people frantically trying to upload their files to other servers/archives! And guess what? Downtime for the overload servers! This is totally unfair for the admin when they get bitched at! AND increase in server space and bandwidth do not happen magically.

Don't think that just because you need a space to park your files NOW, archivists/admins would be happy to find their in-boxes suddenly stuffed with, "do you want my stories", requests codes etc...

The International Day of Femslash and FemSlashCon are fast approaching - 14-15th July - and this year there are heaps of new ways for you to become involved...
Submit a Prompt: http://www.femslashday.com/?p=247 - all fandoms and media welcome.

Take one (or as many as you like) of the prompts from the Masterlist (http://www.femslashday.com/?page_id=253) and write a story, create a video or design a graphic in answer to that prompt. Then, during the IDF weekend, post your response to one of the participating communities, groups or archive (you can find a list here:http://www.femslashday.com/?page_id=308). Alternatively, you can always post to the femslash_day livejournal community. Once you've posted your response, you can then add the link to the big Prompt Responses post on the IDF site, so everyone knows where to find them (the Prompt Responses post will go live on the 14th July).

Or how about recording an audio-fic / podfic of your femslash or consenting to having one of your stories recorded by one of our volunteers? Speaking of which, how about volunteering to become a narrator and create a podfic for everyone's enjoyment this IDF?

Important! Please read...

Sans Paper, and Birds of Prey eBooks are NOT "by submission" archives, which means, authors generally do not send me their stories for archiving, unless I request for the files.

As I was re-organising the site, and preparing files for the new section, I realised that I have yet to post some sort of guidelines or at least some information on the ebook archives, submission guidelines etc. and especially with the recent shenanigans of some new archives hosting stories without authors' permission and whatever else they did to annoy authors and archivists along the way, this needs to be done NOW.

• Stories are archived with permission from the authors.
Requests for archiving are sent via PM or e-mails, and NO REPLY means no archiving.

Edit: EVERY author listed at SansPaper or Birds of Prey ebooks was asked and permission granted by them to archive BEFORE the files were uploaded.

I also do not entertain IM/e-mail requests, not from the authors, to make ebooks and distribute~~transmit~~ them on the sly! sent via PM, e-mails, etc

• No warning for femslash
Readers, not your cup of tea? Move along!
