Hrithik Roshan prepared for big stage shows

He was warned not to dance because of his recurring knee problem, but Hrithik Roshan is all set to blaze the dance floor. He has already started working out on his legs.

Reportedly, Duggu is doing intensive work-out sessions with celebrity fitness expert Satyajit Chourasia, and soon he will be dancing like the way he used to. As a tabloid reported, “Hrithik was advised against strenuous dance routines for over two years by doctors. There was a question mark whether he would ever dance the way he did earlier.”

The handsome man of Bollywood is currently working in only one movie and that is Guzaarish for which he is not required to tap the floor with his dancing. Instead he has to sit on a wheel-chair for major part of the shoot.

Now, Hrithik has hit the gym big time and is doing all kind of exercises. He has signed Vishal Bhardwaj’s next film and for that he has to hone his dancing skills to do a kind of “complicated choreography”. Also, big stage shows are coming up and he has to be prepared for it.

Mugdha Godse being raising her fashion in acting

Last year, Mugdha Godse resultezd in eye brows being raised with her noteworthy act in FASHION. As an underdog in the Madhur Bhandarkar directed film, she delivered a performance that was quite a pleasant surprise considering the fact that there were established actors like Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut around. Now, she is back with JAIL where she get an opportunity by director Madhur Bhandarkar to show her acting talent once again.

Within three weeks of ALL THE BEST, she’s having an altogether different film JAIL coming up. Some shift in mindset here. Says an excited Mugdha, ’Yes, of course. JAIL is completely different from ALL THE BEST or for that matter even FASHION. Here I am playing a girl next door who is coy and living a normal life with a boyfriend on her side.

It’s a completely performance oriented film. In fact for Madhur, it was challenging to show a girl who is ’samaanya’ rather than glamorous, as was the case in FASHION. For me personally though, it was quite exciting since I was working on both ALL THE BEST and JAIL in the same time. I said to myself that ’Chalo, I can now enjoy two different looks’!

So we have yet another female actor joining the ’no make up look’ brigade, ’It’s easy to make loud declarations that you have decided to go without any make up. In normal day to day life it is cool to be stepping out without a make up. However, when it comes to being in front of the camera, regardless of the kind of role you are playing, there is a bit of self consciousness that does come in. Even I went through this phase and used to apply something on my face. However, Madhur promptly used to remove it,’ Mugdha on turning de-glamorous for the film.

Kenny and his team brought the King Of Pop back

Mr Kenny Ortega can’t be thanked enough for such a wonderful tribute to the King Of Pop. For recreating the magic in millions of hearts across the globe. For showing us the good part of Michael Jackson’s death after all the rotten rumours and controversies - This Is It!

Michael Jackson was coming back on stage LIVE after 12 years. There was anticipation. There was hope. There was madness. There were millions of fans who fought for that one entry to London’s O2 arena. This was Jackson’s ’final curtain call’. This was his chance to prove himself, yet again! This was any fan’s dream come true. This was what memories are made of. This was historic. But then the King himself died.

What followed was anything but music. There were accusations. There was a lot of fight over money. Not even his kids were spared. Was he gay? Was he impotent? Was he in debt? Everybody wanted to know what killed Jacko. Nobody bothered about the one thing that kept him alive - Music!

Thank god for Kenny and the team who were to perform for this historic concert. They remembered!

And now, months after MJ’s death, they have brought the King back to life. And this time, to live forever. We can never thank them enough!

Pakistani singer Atif Aslam like to act in a Bollywood movies

Pakistani singer Atif Aslam, who crooned his way into the hearts of Indians with Bollywood songs, has revealed he has acting offers from the industry and is open to them. “Artists don’t belong to any nation,” he says.“I would like to act in a Bollywood film. It’s not my forte, but I want to give it a try,” Aslam told IANS on telephone from Lahore. He is appreciated not just for his singing abilities but also for his suave looks and style statement.

“I have various offers from Bollywood but nothing has been finalised. I am reading scripts at the moment. Once something is finalised, I will make an official announcement,” he added.Aslam gained popularity in Pakistan with his band “Jal”. He made his presence felt in India with the song “Aadat” in the film “Kalyug”. He became a name to reckon with, delivering hit songs like “Woh lamhe” from the film “Woh Lamhe”, “Pehli nazar mein” from “Race” and “Bakhuda” from “Kismat Konnection”.

“Music is an art form that has no boundaries. Artists don’t belong to a nation; they should be free to work wherever they want to,” he said. However, the singer has kept his Indian assignments limited. When asked for the reason, the 26-year-old said he believes in quality rather than quantity.“I have always focussed on quality work and not quantity. I am not singing just for money and fame. I am singing for myself because I like it. Thus, selecting a few but nice songs was a conscious effort. The lyrics of a song are very important to me,” he said.

Aslam also revealed he had never planned to sing in Indian films , but it just happened.“Bollywood just happened to me. I had not planned it this way. I was quite successful in Pakistan; so I started getting offers from the Hindi film industry too. I like singing in Indian films because you get a lot of exposure here. You get to learn many things,” he said.

The singer has sung two songs - “Tera hone laga hoon” and “Tu Jaana na” - in the romantic comedy “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kaháni”.Talking about the success of “Tera hone laga hoon”, which has been picturised on Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, Aslam said: “While singing the song, I never thought that the song would become such a big hit. It’s all because of the blessing of god that most songs I sing become hits.”“I didn’t make any changes to my singing or any other efforts to sing this song. Just that I thought about my first love while crooning this number. It gave me the same kick,” he added.

Dimple Kapadia resumed her second innings in Bollywood

Old is definitely gold. There was something magical about their screen pair. It was not just about chemistry and biology, but something else, which defined them and touched millions of hearts. Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia first came together on screen for the late Raj Kapoor’s teenage love story ’Bobby’, a film which became a hit and made stars out of these two youngsters.

Dimple, however, surprised all, with her decision to get married to Rajesh Khanna , the then reigning superstar, and retire from films after her phenomenal debut in ’Bobby’. But circumstances brought her back to films. Once more, she was cast opposite Rishi, in Ramesh Sippy’s ’Saagar’, which became her comeback movie. ’Saagar’ was a success and Dimple resumed her second innings in Bollywood.

But Rishi and she came together again only years later for a movie called ’Pyaar Mein Twist’ in 2005, which really didn’t do so well. But the pair is getting their due from young director Nikhil Advani, who is planning his next film, ’Patiala House’, where Rishi and Dimple will be seen together once again. ’Patiala House’ will go on the floors in December and is being planned for a release during next Diwali.

Besides, Rishi and Dimple, the film will also star Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma. Rishi and Dimple are one of the few truly charismatic filmi jodis around. Of course, Rishi also formed a terrific screen pair with his wife Neetu. The two were also seen again for a brief moment in Imtiaz Ali’s ’Love Aaj Kal’. Even though Rishi and Dimple will not be dancing around trees and singing songs, it will still be good to see them together again.

Some factors in KURBAAN that made shoot difficult-Saif Ali Khan

Time and again, actors are heard stating that working on a particular film was akin to having a picnic. However, Saif Ali Khan denies that KURBAAN shoot was anywhere close to being a picnic. Instead, he and Kareena Kapoor went through some depressing times due to weather in America as well as the period of turmoil that India was going through during the shoot of Rensil D’Souza directed KURBAAN.

"KURBAAN was hard work. Period. In fact Philadelphia schedule was plain hell. It wasn’t anything like a picnic shooting for the film", shudders Saif who is glad that the film is completed and is now ready for release.

Explaining the factors that made KURBAAN shoot difficult, Saif says, "It gets dark there at 4 PM itself. Moreover, it’s so cold and at -10 degrees, it can actually get really depressing. Since we were shooting in synch sound, it was extremely difficult to get the pitch and tone right while delivering our dialogues."

It was during the shoot of the film that Saif and Kareena got the news around the terror attack which naturally upset them further. "Due to this reason, it was so difficult to concentrate on the film’s shoot. Thankfully Bebo (Kareena Kapoor) was there with me at that time but still, both of us were very depressed", says Saif.

Since it was quite cold in Philadelphia, Saif and Kareena were required to wear layers of clothing. Later, for continuity purpose, they had to wear the same clothes in the summer of Mumbai. Other than the mental and environmental constraints, Saif and others also had a hard time adjusting to the locations that were chosen for the film’s shoot.

"We were shooting in a tube and that’s anything but fun", he remembers, "We had to shoot a subway sequences but being in a tube for hours at stretch is like being in an underground prison. Really, it is very disorienting. Who says shooting for a film is like being in a picnic? KURBAAN certainly wasn’t one."

When asked to name one film which he considers as a picnic, Saif is quick to name Abbas-Mustan directed RACE.

"Now that’s what I call as a real picnic", he says with a glee on his face, "Doing the film was quite easy since working hours were quite comfortable while locations were nice, easy and comfortable It was really simple work and I enjoyed a lot. It was really entertaining to drive fast cars, saying cool lines, be a hero and stuff alike. On the other hand, KURBAAN has me playing this complicated character which only makes it further difficult for an actor."

Ajay Devgn required to showcase his intense side

Doing just intense roles can get quite boring, believes Ajay Devgn who is happy to have worn a different hat in the out and out comedy All The Best even as he is on home ground in London Dreams.

"It’s a great feeling that at this stage of my career I am being seen in movies as diverse as London Dreams and All The Best. At one point of time, I was doing only intense roles," said Ajay, 40, who won a National Award for Zakhm (1998).

"But, believe me, if I had continued doing that till date with every film, I would have been really bored and fed up by now."

Ajay has been seen in quite a few films that required him to showcase his intense side, among them Halla Bol, Omkara, Apaharan, Gangaajal, Deewangee, Company and Takshak.

His London Dreams co-star Asin has said it is Ajay’s "intensity quotient" that strikes one most as an actor. She also said when it comes to dramatic scenes, he just "eats up the screen".

But Ajay says humbly, "I don’t really know if I eat up the screen or do anything like that in my dramatic scenes. Yes, intensity has been my forte and I take her views as a compliment. But, as I said, I am loving this phase of my career where I am able to work on diverse films."

In the pipeline are films like Rajneeti, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Priyadarshan’s next film, Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge, Toonpur Ka Superhero and a sequel to Golmaal or All The Best. Clearly, the man is enjoying his status as an actor who can work in diverse genres.

Hrithik Roshan taking a leaf out Spiderman episode

Our very own superhero Krrish is making a comeback and taking a leaf out Spiderman’s latest episode, papa Roshan is giving grey shades to Hrithik’s alter ego.

And this is not the sole exciting fact leaked about the film. As per reports, the villain in the much-anticipated SFX flick will be a part robot-part human.

Technicians from Hollywood will fly down to work with Rakesh on this one.

As for who will play Hrithik’s love interest?

Allegedly Deepika Padukone or Katrina Kaif will play the lead, but of course since everything is premature, and official sources keep dismissing the whole premise as a figment of the media’s imagination.

Hema Malini really hatke for her children to make it extra special

Birthdays are always special for everyone. But trust a mother to do something really hatke for her children to make it extra special. Well, Esha Deol, who shares her birthday with Shah Rukh Khan, probably got one of her best birthday presents ever from her mother, the Dream Girl, Hema Malini .

It’s common knowledge that Esha’s career as a Bollywood heroine was hardly going anywhere. And then she disappeared for a while, sending the rumour mills working overtime on why and where she had gone to. In all this, Hema has stood by her daughter and even decided to produce a film to relaunch her daughter.

On Esha’s birthday, the shooting for ’Tell Me Oh Khuda’ commenced. The film stars Esha, of course, and she is cast opposite Arjan Bajwa. The cast includes Hema herself, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna. The film is being directed by Mayur Puri, the dialogue writer of Om Shanti Om. The film is about a girl’s search for her father.

It sounds familiar to Hema’s earlier production venture, ’Dil Aashna Hai’, which had the heroine searching for her mother. Shah Rukh Khan and the late Divya Bharti were a part of that movie.

Anyway, with ’Tell Me Oh Khuda’, Hema is sure that the public will fall in love with Esha’s performance and it will help resurrect her career. It seems that even younger daughter Ahana has been roped in to take care of the production. Well, here’s wishing this gutsy mother all the best in her endaevour.

Shatrughan Sinha has shaved off his moustache first time in movie

For the first time in his career of 40 years as an actor, Shatrughan Sinha has shaved off his moustache. The critical decision to do away with the moustache was taken only after daughter Sonakshi approved.

The tragic relinquishment of the trademark Shotgun mouche came after weeks of persuasion.

"Initially I was taken aback by Ramu’s request. I’ve never taken my moustache off in my entire life except once, and that was when I was still a student at the Film & Television Institute Of India.

I wanted to experiment with my looks. My father had gone livid. ’How could you shave off your moustache when both your parents are still alive?’ he had shouted at me. I had vowed never to touch my moustache, and I never did. Now of course both Baba and Maa are gone..."

Meghalaya Chief Minister has agreed to shooting For Bollywood

Meghalaya Chief Minister D.D. Lapang has agreed to come on board the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) so that his state becomes the next Bollywood destination for shooting films.

Manoj Rastogi, managing director and chief executive officer of Television Media and Communications and event associate of the 11th Mumbai Film Festival, had taken the initiative to approach Lapang.

"This initiative was taken during the ongoing 11th Mumbai Film Festival (MFF) to promote the underutilised location of Meghalaya as worldwide film tourism," Rastogi told IANS.

Rastogi explained that Meghalaya was not exploited by the film industry as there wasn’t proper infrastructure in the state.

"This place remained untouched by the industry as there wasn’t proper infrastructure or communication system. Now the infrastructure has improved manifold so instead of shooting in foreign destinations, they can use the virgin beauty of India as their shooting destination," said Rastogi.

Lapang is planning to build a committee or task force, keeping some renowned names from the industry as its members. He mentioned that this task force is essential as it is not easy to get into Meghalaya and shoot films.

The chief minister also aims to open an office in Mumbai so that any production house interested in shooting a film in Meghalaya can approach them.

"I am looking forward to make Meghalaya the next Bollywood destination. I am not directly involved though, Manoj and Anish Gandhi (advisors to chief minister) are in talking terms with renowned celebrities of Bollywood," said Lapang.

When asked to name whom he thinks fits best as the committee member, he said: "I have Yash Chopra and Shabana Azmi in my mind, but I couldn’t speak to them in my last visit to Mumbai. Once the committee is formed I will sit with them in Meghalaya."

Neil Nitin Mukesh got conventional hero-centric role

Neil Nitin Mukesh is not one to play a chocolate boy hero despite looking very much like one.

His first movie Johnny Gaddaar saw him portray a character with grey shades while his second New York was not a conventional hero-centric role either.

Neil takes a different route in his third film Jail as well. Madhur Bhandarkar’s movie promises to be a gritty one about prison life. The movie, which Neil has even gone nude for, also stars Mugdha Godse, Manoj Bajpai and Arya Babbar.

Shamita has less chances to attend her sister’s wedding

If rumours are to be believed then Shilpa Shetty and her beau Raj Kundra will tie the knot at the end of this month, but by that time there are very less chances that Shamita may attend her sister’s wedding.

Shamita is one of the strong contestants in Bigg Boss 3’s house; so far she has been real in house, though sometimes her inability to speak Hindi looks indigestible. But overall she is doing well in the show by not talking too much about everyone. She seems to be gelling well with everyone in the house and is not showing any kind of attitude. So there are possibilities that any of her housemates would vote against her, and she will be out of the house so soon.

It has just been a month that the show has started and it is expected to conclude on December 3, if Shamita will be in top three contestant .

She will have to remain in the house till December 3 while Shilpa who got engaged without her sister on October 24 last month. Shamita too expressed inside the house that she often misses her parents, beloved sister and would be brother-in law-Raj, and how she likes to spend time with him. But she could not attend their engagement.

Now if Shilpa and Raj really decide to get married in the last week of November it is likely that Shamita may not be able to attend it. It is said that both sisters are fond of each other and are very attached too, so will Shilpa change the date of her marriage for her little sis or she will get married with her absence, for that one has to wait andwatch.

A source close to Shilpa says “Shilpa wants to get married in Mumbai itself as its her place and everybody can be a part of her marriage. Fans will welcome in any avatar that Salman Khan chooses

In the beginning of their careers, many actors like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn or even a Sunny Deol, were typecast as action heroes. In time, they revealed their ability to slip into other roles as well. For instance, Devgn always known to be a brooding intense actor, has actually proved that he has a fantastic sense of timing where comedy is concerned. ’All The Best’ and the Golmaal series are a testimony to that.

Salman Khan , on the other hand, began his career with a sensitive, love story and then went on to do some action and comic films which have gone down well with audiences, who have now grown to love him in those avatars. The stupendous success of his last film ’Wanted’ and the earlier ’Partner’ have really brought the fact home that the actor’s fans really love to watch him either clowning around or bashing up the baddies.

Salman is believed to be feeling that he has been typecast by his audience which only wants him to see him in these two genres and has even confessed so in certain media reports. His comment obviously directed at the manner in which ’Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’ bombed. While there is no taking away from the success of a ’Wanted’ or a ’Partner’, the fact remains that both these films were well made and executed by their directors, Prabhudeva and David Dhawan, respectively.

The fact of the matter is also that a Prem Soni could not do justice to his debut venture, ’Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’. One would like to argue that where Salman is concerned, his choice of films, unlike most of his contemporaries, has not always been the wisest. He has ended up doing a lot more mediocre movies, due to various reasons, than them and that is probably why a ’Wanted’ and a ’Partner’ stand out and probably give him that feeling.

He has another movie coming up for release , Vipul Shah’s ’London Dreams’. It will see him in another avatar and it will be great to see how the audiences take to Salman in this avatar. Incidentally, besides ’Partner’ and ’Wanted’, audiences have also loved Salman in ’Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and ’Baghbaan’. It is great that Salman feels the need to explore different genres and grow as an actor. Rest assured, if the film is well made, his fans will welcome in any avatar that he chooses to don.

Anil Kapoor 'Aisha' Movie is now on a break

The unit of Anil Kapoor Productions’ ’Aisha’, which was being shot in Delhi for the last two months, is now on a break. The unit has just wrapped up the film’s two month long Delhi schedule and is back in Mumbai.

The film’s leading stars are Sonam Kapoor , Abhay Deol, Arunoday Singh and Ira Dubey and is directed by Rajshree Ojha. The next schedule of the film will take place in Mumbai, where it will first be shot on actual outdoor locations before moving indoors.

The film is said to be based on the English novel, Emma. Abhay, who stepped into the film as a favour to Anil Kapoor, is also believed to have reduced his remuneration for the movie to help his producer.

Though Ammesha Patel deos not have anythng going for her right now, she is not at the top or even close. But Ameesha Patel has accomplished something that Kareena, Priyanka, Katrina, Deepika, and maybe even Aishwarya Rai have not and may never.Ammesha Patelhas TWO ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTERS to her name. Kaho Na Pyaar Hain and Gadar. Gadar is one of the biggest hits in the History of Hindi Cinema.

Ammesha Patel was considered the lucky mascot of Bollywood. Not many actresses can say that they have acted in two-let alone one All-time Blockbuster. Kareena Kapoor has not delivered an all time blockbuster in her decade long career, and proabbaly wont ever.

Priyanka Chopra I doubt it. Aish still doesn’t have an All-time blockbuster- the cloest she comes is with Devdas which is superhit-to Blockbuster.

Ameesha Patel is ahead of all the actresses of this generation in that sense.If she had acted in these two All-time blockbusters today, she would have a string of endorsements and films with big heroes. If a Sonam Kapoor can be relevant today after two flops, then im sure Amisha Patel would have attained superstar status if those films released today. I really feel that Ammesha Patel is very underrated.

Amitabh Bachchan to surrender in front of Ringmaster

The unthinkable has happened. The living legend of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan, has been made to kneel down. And this has happened for a key sequence in ALADIN where the man, who plays the role of ‘Genius - The Genie’, is required to touch Sanjay Dutt’s feet.

Says a source attached to the feel, “An important part of the film’s narrative requires the character played by Amitabh Bachchan to surrender in front of Ringmaster, which is played by Sanjay Dutt. Though this was always a part of the script, there was all an around apprehension around the shooting of this scene. Sujoy and others feared how exactly would millions of Amitabh Bachchan fans accept this scene. For Sanjay Dutt too it was challenging since Amitabh Bachchan is too big a name to be kneeling down.”

However, what everyone completely understood was the potential of the scene and how it contributed to the dramatic quotient. The film does convey the message of good’s win over evil and a scene like this only heightens the impact of the final result. Moreover, to make matters easy, Amitabh Bachchan was game for the scene and didn’t hesitate in going by the director’s vision.

“That’s the beauty of working with Mr. Bachchan”, says Sujoy, “He lets himself be driven as wanted by the director. We were a bunch of kids wondering how to approach Sir to do this scene and there he was game to do whatever that went well with the character. He has always stated that once he is committed to a project, he doesn’t protest on anything. This is why we could can such a crucial scene without any hindrance. It is indeed one of the highlights of the film.”

Mahie Gill made her mark in Bollywood

Punjabi actress Mahie Gill, who made her mark in Bollywood as Paro in Anurag Kashyap’s “Dev D”, is on a high as her kitty is full of prestigious projects. However, the actress maintains that the road to success was not that easy.

“It is very difficult to create a place for yourself in the industry. I struggled my way through it. By chance Anurag saw me in a party and I got ‘Dev D’; otherwise things wouldn’t have shaped this way,” Mahie told IANS here.

Talking about her days of struggle, she said: “When you dress up every morning, go for auditions and at the end of the day you don’t get work, you feel bad. Sometimes you feel that you are better than the other person, still you don’t get work. That’s when you feel very frustrated. But one needs to be patient.”

The actress was in the capital to attend the 11th Osian’s-Cinefan Film Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema. Her next release is Tigmanshu Dhulia’s “Paan Singh Tomar”. She teams up with Irrfan Khan in the film, which is scheduled for release in February next year.

Talking about “Paan Singh Tomar”, Mahie said: In this film, I am playing Paan Singh Tomar’s wife. He was an athlete who later became a dacoit. His wife is still alive. She is very old now. I am playing a woman who is very talkative and short tempered.” The actress had to darken her complexion for the role.

When asked about the experience of working with an actor like Irrfan, the 33-year-old said: “It was great working with Irrfan. He is such a wonderful actor.”

As far as her future projects are concerned, she has signed two films to be made by Abhinav Kashyap. She is also doing Arbaaz Khan Productions’ “Dabang” and a Saurabh Shukla film, which is tentatively titled “Bhaang”.

Mahie has also signed a film with Naseeruddin Shah called “Surmai Shaam”. It will be helmed by debutant director Bhramanand Singh. Then there is action film “Gulaab Gang” that also stars Tabu and Raveena Tandon.

After completing her masters in theatre, Mahie got her first break with Punjabi film “Havaayen” and then did couple of more like “Mitti Wajaan Maardi” and “Chakk De Phatte”.

Asked if she would like to return to theatre, the actress said: “I really want to do theatre. Right now I don’t get the time to do that, but some day I will definitely do it. I will be meeting Naseeruddin Shah very soon; so maybe one day I happen to do theatre with him.”

Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn selling tickets for London Dreams

Marketing is the new buzzword in tinseltown and the biggest and best are waking up to the worth of a good promotion strategy. Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn are no exceptions, it seems, and the duo will now be seen behind the counter, selling tickets for their upcoming London Dreams.

From the outset, director Vipul Shah had an extensive strategy in place but things didn’t quite go as planned. The team had planned to have a series of London Dreams concerts across the country, but that was put in jeopardy after concerns over the frenzy it would cause among fans, and the lack of suitable venues. The series had to be cancelled, said Intech Image company managing director S. Chakravarty, after they realised the gravity of the situation.

As an alternative, Vipul was keen to have a novel initiative. So now Ajay and Salman will sell tickets to customers at Delhi multiplexes. The makers were still a bit wary about security issues but have plumped for this initiative since it allows the stars to be sat in a closed room, manned by security while still close enough to fans across the window.

Sources tell us it’s a publicity gimmick many producers are looking to follow. With stars sat at counters there are bound to be crowds coming in. The fact that it directly influences ticket sales makes it an effective strategy.
