Configuring iPhone 802.1x

Connecting the Apple iPhone to a 802.1x WIFI network can be a problem if we don’t know the existence of an application for Mac and Windows called “iPhone Configuration Utility”.

This app is intended to be used on enterprises (but it also works on universities networks) and it let us make configuration profiles for our iPhone, such as WIFI profiles, Mail, EDGE/GPRS and restrictions. This app makes possible to connect to WIFI 802.1x protected networks with the following encriptions: WEP, WPA/WPA2 and the following protocols: LEAP, PEAP, TLS, TTLS, EAP-FAST, PAP, MSCHAP, MSCHAPv2 and CHAP.

There was a web version of this application, but since version 2.0 arrived, there are versions for Mac OS X and Windows, whom make it easier to configure the iPhone than before. To install the profile, we have to options: the first is sending by mail the configuration and loading it on the iPhone Mail app; the second is connecting the iPhone to the computer and then selecting the iPhone on the Configuration Utility and navigating to the appropriate tab, after that click on install the chosen profile.

You can download the iPhone Configuration Utility on the Apple Enterprise website. (It’s in several languages)

Congratulations Brazil and definetly, Spain

Yesterday Río was chosen to be the city of the Olympic Games of the year 2016, beating Chicago, Tokyo and (thank God) Madrid. For those who are asking themselves, I am spanish (from Spain, not from Latin America) and I didn’t wanted the OO.GG. in Madrid. ¿Why? Because a country that will be the last on quitting the global crisis (Dispite of words of our President Rodriguez Zapatero, who said that Spain was the country wich will stand better the crisis) should spend its money on a better way, not on things like that, wich their only objective is the distraction of more important things. Because Spain has more than a 20% of unemployement and because most of our politicians are corrupted.

We don’t need distractions of these facts, we need employment and politicians that doesn’t treat us like assholes.

Wordpress XMLRPC Error on Wordpress for iPhone

I have been fighting a little with an error of the Wordpress for iPhone application that didn’t let me to use this app with Wordpress.org installation. The error is the following:

Communication Error
Operation could not be completed
(NSXMLParserErrorDomain error 5.)

This error can be easily solvedby just editing the .htaccess file on the root of our blog, adding it a few more lines.

This also solves an XMLRPC error that may happen when trying to post a photo directly from Flickr.

If have another problem, try to find a solution on the great Wordpress oficial FAQ, where there are solutions to another problems.

The Windows XP master key

Some time ago I needed a Windows XP key because I decided to uninstall Windows Vista because It happened a lot of strange things that with Windows XP didn’t occur (Suddenly shutdowns, graphic card issues, Wifi and PSX pad adapter incompatibilities…)

So I went back to install Windows XP, but this time, when I tried to validate Windows I couldn’t. So I searched on internet for a solution to the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) and I found a ‘master key’ that validates Windows XP and It makes possible to install all the upgrades, Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Media 11. The key is the following:

To put the key there are two options. The first is to introduce in the installation of Windows. The second is to use a program to change the key in use (search it in Google).

Both methods are simple to do, so there is no problem for Windows XP “to the last.”

The first site is The Pirate Bay, one of the most visited websites where you can find everything you want. It’s search is quite effective and the download speed is usually good.

The second option to download torrents is Mininova, used especially to download movies or tv-shows.

The third option, if we didn’t find what we wanted to download on the other two sites, we could try IsoHunt. I used this site to download seasons of Lost.

Avoiding duplicate content and boosting SEO on Wordpress 2.7

Wordprress 2.7 has included comment pagination, something very necessary when we have more than 30 comments on a post and the page grows and grows down, making it impossible or very awkward the navigation. The problem with this, is that we are creating many pages with the same content, with the same title and with the same metadata, something that does not like Google’s Webmaster Tools and shows many pages with the same titles and repeated descriptions.

I use, like many people, the plugin All in One SEO Pack to solve the SEO issues on the blog, which shows the page number on certain occasions, but not in the comments pages, because they are using another variable.

Therefore, I have changed a little the plugin All in One SEO Pack to display on the title of each comment page the page number, and also at the end of the meta description, so that Google does not detect the pages of comments from a post as duplicates.

There is also a plugin that displays a summary of the article in the comments pages, and could be used to complement the change that I made, but I’m not sure it’s the most successful and we will be creating a new duplicate content in these pages.

You can download the plugin All In One Seo Pack modified and replace the original without any complication (is version 1.4.6.15).
