As I've updated to kde 4.8.2 my slackware based netbook, I've noticed the Calligra packages and didn't actually installed it until now that Pat V. has included kde 4.8.2 on slackware current.

so what the hell... i installed it and test it.

Of course, before anything I did whatever anybody will do when does not know something... i google calligra vs libreoffice.

Aparently Calligra shares code with kde and ofcourse is based on qt etc... Some people have been arguing that libreoffice has over 5million lines of code vs less than 1 million code lines for calligra etc... As libreoffice is a very good product I had to put my hands on calligra and see what the fuzz is all about.

I have to report that the performance of this thing is quite good... specially compared to libreoffice that takes some time to load.
I've been dealing with over 1Mb .docx files and have no complains but the user interface that is... odd
I haven't been able to test any big and fancy odf or any rtf file to see on real basis what was going on with open formats... however, for someone like me (who actually uses kde on a netbook) is nice to use more efficiently the processing power.
Spread sheet is working sweet...
Calligra stage (powerpoint) opens big ass picture loaded file.

I have no idea what will happen in the future and I won't be trying to predict it. Calligra now is looking for developers and libreoffice has a huge community behind it's develop so we will see... however, from an end user stand point its a promising suite.

I'll like to point out that I DON'T LIKE the end user interface of calligra.. is odd. Maybe i'm too used to libreoffice and microsoft office suites but at the moment, calligra is weird with the tools on the right side... I'll report the progress on this thing and if there is a way to change or custimize it.

Cheers

as you know, I run slackware on my asus 1005ha... and since slackware is what it is...i pretty much do not spend time upgrading or patching anything... stable release install.. configure and that’s it... however something have called my attention with the new release of kde 4.8.0

While running win7 or winxp, this little machine is able to do 8 hours of usable battery life thanks to asus superhybrid engine (a proprietary under-clocking management system) ... on linux... I barely do 4 and half hours.... that pissed me off as I know it is related to configuration etc.

Back on the day I bought this machine I tried (as in miserably failed) to match battery life on slackware; however, there is a point where you really don’t care. 4 hours is good enough if compared with several other machines around + the fact that I run kde with full eye candy... who in fact consume resources.

Kde 4.8.0 is supposed to have a better adaptive power management... so I went to the upgrade... compiled packages like an idiot for a couple of hours and then BAM... alienbob (a known slackware contributor) made some slackbuilds... and the packages for slackware-current... so eventually I ended up updating the whole thing as the new kernel 3.2 series features called my attention.

I haven’t done any benchmark or anything alike but according to kde battery monitor, usable computing time has been up to 6 hours and something... and kde4.8.0 is fast. I’ve read somewhere that it may be as fast as xfce.... however, on the netbook is not really noticeable the speed boost it feels very responsive!

Time to make a backup and a clean install of slackware-current + new kde 4.8.0 apparently...

<georss:box>8.8688014 -79.6767205 9.119736399999999 -79.36086350000001</georss:box>

The future of computer devices

Couple of years ago, the world entered on a devastating
financial crisis.. I’ve blog about it as well as many others…

Interestingly enough, by that time asus “invented” the
netbook… a cropped version of a laptop with sucky capabilities that were “just enough”
to do basic computing task… That was the only sector of the computing industry
that actually grows within the financial crisis…. That was the deciding fact of
why Microsoft had to extend support for windows XP... THE NETBOOK

By the same time, people started to demand more
functionality on their smartphones… up to the point that we no longer
understand where it stops been a smartphone (or a tablet for the sake of my
point) and start to become a computer. Virtually everything that could be done
on one device is doable on the other… Before that, the software companies (you
know which ones) make bloated os with fancy eye candy that require more
processing power to make you throw away your hardware in order to update to
current version of something that wasn’t well design to begin with…

Anyhow, I’ve ran on a website that promotes a $25 bucks
computer… Raspberry pi, designed to be a credit-card sized computer that plugs
into your TV and a keyboard. It’s a capable little PC which can be used for
many of the things your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and
games. It also plays high-definition video. We want to see it being used by
kids all over the world to learn programming.

This 25 dollars machine is running quake 3 on full hd
resolution (1080p) with 4x anti-aliasing… tap that!

This is just another prove of what professor Lambraño told
me back on college… the computer that put the man on the moon was an 8bit
computer… as powerful as a 5 bucks casio calculator… ARM platform is very different
from x86 ibm pc; however, you are getting the idea. This little machine is
capable, its size, combined with small heat output and power demands, means
that it will be able to be shoved in all sorts of tight spots…

About the panamanian "Metro Bus" failure

I've been thinking about if I should blog this down or not; however, somehow I’m bored at a Systems and logistics lecture given by a respectable professor from Louisville... so I’m saying ...what the hell!

Panamanian public transportation sucks. I don't use it as I have a car.. however, thousands of people day in and day out had to ride buses that wasn't secure, had no insurance etc etc... in a vial network that has developed wildly with apparently no planning at all.

Martinelli's government made the change... “diablos rojos” are becoming history as I write down these words.... people are riding new and modern urban buses... however... the system still not functional by several factors.

Anyhow, the idea behind this post is to point out a simple, yet important condition I've seen (from the outside) of why the “metro bus” system is miserably failing.

Old “diablos rojos” are “school buses” which capacity is between 48 to 77 passengers depending on the bus model... however, the buses were usually modified indistinguishably and would accommodate 80 passengers (all “seated).

Metro buses are Marco Polo Gran Viale with a similar capacity, however, because “diablos rojos” charged 25 cents per ride and the new “metrobuses” charge around a buck... people is reluctant to go standing... The users are demanding seats.
This basically means that their capacity has been cropped to something around 30 passengers (manufacturer claims 25 seats)

One of the routes that has been completely taken over by the new system is the one from “Don Bosco”... which had over 200 “diablos rojos” at service... Today, there are around 110 “metrobuses” servicing this route. Assuming that the total capacity of each unit is in use... we are still short on the amount of buses... so guess what. THE SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK.

Some has reported that they could stay waiting for a “metrobus” as long as 45 minutes... and when it comes in... it is already full (no seats available).

I have no idea of how the system was designed and the specifics of why it is not working... however, just by observing the amount of people going on the buses each day I ride from home to work and viceversa I could easily say that the amount of units should be doubled to match the service that old diablos rojos provided.

and yes... I'm glad I own a car!

I just got into photography...

Back on the 80´s, my father owned a pentax system... As every hobby my father had (excluding firearms) eventually it was passed on to me as he got "bored".

back on those days, there was no autofocus; so everything was 100% manual... In other words I have some old and forgotten experience taking pictures with a SLR...

anyways, I just got into the canon system as someone offered me a mint condition EOS 20d with a kit lens...

this is some of what i've done with it so far..

As you may know already, I won a scholarship for my masters degree.... so about a year from now i'm supposed to be defending my thesis... then i've been collecting data and taking notes on some "not technical" stuff yet interested enough to make me sniff around.

superpopulation is one of them..

is the world already overpopulated or we have space for more people?

As the demand and supply for resources and money increases over time, it is common to get annoyed by the ones who fail to keep on their 5 senses... however, I've been thinking about it, and i have some interesting conclusions regarding this... at least from a strileckly engineering standpoint.

I'll need to run some numbers in order to say something properly, but i think we are on the verge of overpopulation.

We have seen some effects of the weather changes related to global warming... food production may not be enough as entire harvest get lost by flood, hurricanes etc.

The "open market" demand and supply does not incentive food production as there are more profitable activities, which have to do with the

Cost of energy. as food production requires energy and processing and packaging does need some more...

the list go on and may go on for ever... however, these are weak arguments to such a problem, if the problem ever exist to begin with.

Centos 6 has a bug
I booted the server from the USB Drive everything normal but...
.. anaconda installer (centOS) is not able to locate the packages or image to install...

As my time is compromised by the offline activities I have (like having an actual live) it has been long time since I've been writing something... specially for this website.

anyhow, today I though it would be nice to check on the comments and stuff... and found out there is a new blogger interface.
It looks pretty neat and clean... too much for my own taste to be honest.

The entire user interface has been changed dramatically; the
color scheme, placement, and navigation is unrecognizable if compared
to the previous version...

Several key Google services have been integrated more deeply into Blogger, including automatic Analytics data for blog content. This is very nice!

Post settings.. location ¿? seriously¿?

this is simply different; and even if I don't like it, i think it is very nice. Maybe it will be integrated with google+ somehow,.... who knows.

ok.

time to blog..

I had some time without updating this blog or anything. Aparently i'm to bussy to do such things...

anyways, i'm currently on forced vacations. My daugther got chicken pops so i decided to take a week off and take care of her (She is 4 years old)

meanwhile, i've been updating my new business website amont some others stuff that people usually do when are at home with nothing on deadline (Cleaning the kitchen, fixing some appliances etc)

so, tonite i was chatting with a friend about the new fancy Gnome3. I checked some youtube videos and honestly i seemed fancy and quirky but that's it... i left it like that.

Today the subject came up to surface again as he pointed me out that the pinguin man (Linus Torvalds) and some others HATE Gnome3. I've read what “the man” had to say and if whatever he said is true... Gnome3 sucks.

source [read the story on this link]

I'm a kde user... since i moved to slackware who knows when I never used gnome again and that's the way I roll.. but why exactly I don't use gnome?

Well... Patrick Volderking (slackware dude) dumped gnome from slackware because he had too much trouble debugging and stuff... [source]

and the other big reason... Gconf.

Gconf is, and i quote, “an atempt to recreate MS windows registry system in linux”
See here for more on that problem :-

http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/200...good-idea.html

So much “propaganda” about it... too many friends telling me it rocks... I saw it; didn't like it and that was it... until tonight.

I was having some quality time with the wife, suddenly we ended watching “The glee project”. They are looking for other member of the band... bla bl abla.. then I suddenly got the point..

why does it works?

Simple... the world is filled up with freaks.

Everybody and their mother, by the time they were on high school had the issue of been popular, been noticed etc etc.... it is part of life.
As the individual is developing it's own identity... suddenly he/she realizes is different... then the freak show begins.

The drama on Glee explode the “different” kind and give them a reason of been appreciated... and that... is basically the chase of life.

The sad news for you is that, it doesn't really matter how wonderful, important, different or great you are... even if you where Jesus born 2000 years a go... you are just another bastard among the 6 thousand million people who walks tru the planned earth.

Since the homo sapiens sapiens existence there has been a freak boy who is trying to get laid, a girl who is miserable because is ignored by the guy she likes and the moron who have a high IQ to understand that all that shit is irrelevant because at the end WE ALL ARE DIFERENT and there is nothing you can do about it...

but kudos... they are making tons of cash by exploiting your lack of self awareness.

Slackware 13.37 is out

-->

I HAVE to write about this.

Regardless of all the Bullshit around the internet (specially youtube) where people are uploading videos full of crap with the end of the world; as usual I did my research and, as usual with this topics you are not able to know what is real, what is speculation and what is people filling up the internet with useless crap.

SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial intelligence) Astrophysicist named Craig Kasnov announced he had discovered large objects out in deep space (around Pluto’s orbit). He and others scientist from SETI projects estimates that at the rate these objects are moving they will be arriving earth vicinity by mid December 2012.... ummm

the fact that some objects where found does not surprised me... but the date...
According to Mayan calendar, the return of Quetzalcoatl, when the long count ends (by December 21 of 2012), has raised the flag... media (specially the History channel) has been filling up with crap our brain about the end of the world and shit like that.

I've seen websites that claims that Mr. Craig Kasnov doesn't exist. He is not listed on any SETI directory... I googled him finding a bunch of websites with the same information I'm giving away here... but acording to this link, the idea of SETI@home was originated from a conversation between Craig Kasnov (our guy) and David Gedye, which somehow demonstrate this guys exist.

suspiciously enough, some other websites says that SETI@home program has been shut down...

Anyhow; the story says 3 objects, and the bigger one is around 240 km wide. .. but wait...
There is a number of solar system bodies which has been discovered out beyond Neptune, known as the “Kuiper belt” which consist of millions of objects of 1 to 100 km in diameter... (this is why finding the objects didn't surprised me at all); besides there is a 10th planet discovered in 2005 which is... more interesting. In 2005, Dr. Mike Brown of the California Institute of Technology announced the discovery of a new planet, bigger than Pluto (temporary named 2003 UB313).

Back to topic...

Do NOT believe blindly anything... (specially if it is coming form the internet)

Do NOT discard any idea... no matter how blunt and stupid it sounds... know the facts and take your conclusions.

There is indeed a cover up... if you choose to believe it, then you are welcome to wait for Santa Claus on Christmas.

There is enough information around (specially on TV) about the FACTS that we are not alone in the universe; and if these 3 objects are really 3 mother-ships, this is NOT the first time we (humans) interact with alien civilizations. The Ancient Aliens series (History Channel) has enough circumstantial evidence that made me think what they had been saying is true... specially Pumapunku ruins which was supposed to be build by a human civilization that had no writing...
Follow this link to Skymap, load in the coordinates and see for yourself:

"Oracle's imposition of fees for some OpenOffice capabilities caused some of the venerable open source office suite's creators to head out on their own and create LibreOffice as a truly free OSS tool.”

LibreOffice is already on stable state and truth to be told... I see no difference yet on Libre or Open; but the fact that The Document Foundation where created is the big deal here...
somehow the ATI driver got fucked up... and at the end I just did the windows solution (format and reinstall) because i was too tired to deal with the issue... (in the middle X loaded fine but kde4 didn't in i tought.. Fuck it)

100% fresh slackware13 x86_64 is running with all security patches at home...but after all... dunno if I shall update to current (slackware 13.37) or stay on a stable.. release...

As part of my daily routine, I trend to spend some time reading high tech stuff in order to keep my brain alive. So eventually, I end up reading some odd ideas and as usual, after all been me, I think about it and their realistic possibilities.

The physics principle:

Following quantum mechanics math we have discovered the possibilities of a Bose-Einstein matter state named Superfluidity. Just as a superconductor is able to conduct an electrical current with no resistance (no Joule effect over the work done by the electrons) a superfluid is able to flow with no friction. As the superfluid is flowing, since it will flow with no friction the flow speed will increase gradually and eventually the increase on speed will be exponential.

At certain point, this superfluid will reach relativistic speed (57.7% of the speed of light to be exact), which means it will be able to bend the space-time plane.

The device:

The idea is to keep a superfluid running forever as theory says; but in order to keep the fluid contained the need of a toroidal type device is definitely a must. This way we warranty that the fluid will be running in a circle increasing the speed as explained before.

Anyways, the only way to control the vortex created by the fluid movement without interfering with the fluidity will be if the fluid itself present ferrous-magnetic properties and the container an electromagnetic toroid. The ability of creating a ferromagnetic super-fluid is the key part and I'm 100% sure there are people working on this fluid as I type this words.

Assuming such a fluid exist, we have the technology to build a toroidal shaped propulsion system that will feed on anti gravitational forces. Now... let me pop some questions.

why is it that the typical shape of UFO's is a flying disc?

Have I discovered something?... does UFO's use this kind of anti-gravitational propulsion system?

Interesting...

Sad but True

Some years ago I liked to brag about me been connected to the internet around 1995… back then there wasn’t internet explorer and people used to chat using IRC. Today… it reminds me that I’m aging like milk…. LOL

Those days people had link list and the search engines didn’t exist. In fact, I think there were no html code yet….

Every bit of information was on txt files and 99% of the information available was technical. Today we have Google to manage our search queries and results. Yes, there are some other search engines, but after all, the one that matters is Big G.

Google after all is a company that has to do business and must be profitable. Some day they came with the adsense – adwords idea and started a revolution all over the internet. Adsense success stories were told and made some people (including me) wanting to go for the new American dream:

making money over the internet out of the thin air.

People started to build websites in order to apply for an adsense account while inevitably filled the internet with their crap. I remember I read back on 2006 something about some guy who did 4 months in a row 60k in earnings monthly… I wanted a piece of that cake… EVERYBODY and their mother wanted a piece of that cake.

People were buying adwords to expose their crappy websites and make profit as they bought cheap adds to show expensive adds and make a dime by playing the system... but who cares? Big G had what they wanted… now everybody is going to advertise with google system… so the company will be profitable and eventually will sit their fat ass over 12 billion dollars.

This is why every time there is an algo update I got mixed feelings with google peeps. We can’t deny their importance as they DO MATER. The internet has been shaped by G for good or bad… but plain and simply… what they are doing is cleaning up their mess.

Couple of years back Google awarded general websites that talked about virtually everything!. Web 2.0 was the shit and google did like the idea of user generate content. Today they are blaming these websites because their content is full of crap and spammers did took over. But what is really going on?

Search engine technologies is after all… technology.

As an engineer I can say without any doubt that up to this very moment, Artificial intelligence is not yet developed up to the point that it can replace human mind. Common sense is something that personally I think it doesn’t exist; but the fact is that we cannot put “common sense” into a computer. A machine is not able to decide based what we, the humans called common sense.

An algorithm after all is a rule of dumb that a computer follows blindly…. And here is an example.

Every German is black

All black are ugly

Conclusion: all the German are ugly!.

By any means of the human mind formal structure, the previous conclusion is well made. New knowledge is deducted by the combination of both previews statements. Inevitably, the “all german are ugly” conclusion is made.

But we, humans are able to read and identify that both statements are false…. A machine can’t. I won’t be explaining any further as it is not the scope of this post (look for logic if you like), but even if this example is a little exaggerated, it defends my point.

Google datacenter computers follow the algo blindly…. And they do because no matter how elegant and complicated it is, it is based on fixed rules and a computer cannot deduct anything if it is not established by a bolean logics.

So… how is it that google’s algo is able to determine the quality and relevance of a website in order to set the index?

The truth is… it can’t.

The big computer is only able to match search terms with content of a site and that’s it. How Google algo rank and rate a site is a whole post by it’s own, but it is a system based on trust earned with time and backlinks. The computer cannot make a quality judgment.

How does the big G decide and find out which piece of information was the original one and wichone is the stolen (for the case of spun content)?... it doesn’t…. because it can’t. Common sense based deductions is not yet achievable by any computer I know. Computers are damned fast doing calculations and shit… but they are stupid.

What I’m trying to say is that Google has always manipulated the search results at it’s convenience hiding behind a smoke screen of the promise of quality content relevant to the search terms... but, as soon as they find someone else is doing the same, a double morality speech is called upon with it respective algo update.

I can’t predict based soley on my observations when the new algo update will be and what it will take care of; but the fact that people are greedy and realizing big G cannot keep the promise of providing good, reliable, relevant and depurated search results, the mouse and cat game will keep on going as far as Google keep encouraging people to build useless websites and blogs with the only purpose of been rewarded with cash thru their adsense program.

Apparently someone big enough inside Google did notice what I´m saying here and activated the fear factor program that we are watching…

I'm rusty

It is kinda hard to understand that the amount of memory a brain can process is limited... even if someone is able to remember with details things from 20 years back.. sometimes some things do not stick as the individual do not get into the limbic system.

Anyhow... I found the hard way that setting up a LAMP server with CentOS(Linux based machine with apache, mysql and php) wasn't considered important information and ended looking for a guideline in google.

As part of my “spread the open source” campain I decided to setup a test server for the office where everybody things Linux is an obscene word and I am some kind of geeky freak because I have slackware installed on my netbook.

Anyhow, my work doesn't really have to do with servers and setting up stuff anymore as I'm doing more project manager tasks....

wish me luck setting up a server farm made of old P4 machines laying around the office....

ok no more blogging...I have work to do.

Ideas for a real light saber....

I've been watching starwars and been who I am, again I started to materialize the mytical light saber...
In theory... a device who´s able to emit huge amounts of energy... and contains it on that particular shape is virtually impossible by any means we (humans) know atm.

however... a nice looking replica can be build with a couple of tesla coils and some HID lights....

time to talk to Mr. Lucas...

Meet Waze

Panamanian community has recently begun developing, so it'll take a bit of time until waze begins to deliver its full value in Panama City.

Installed Blackberry OS 6.0.0.424 on the blod 9700

Check the first impressions on Blackberry OS 6 on the blod 9700.

By the time I learned that blackberry OS 6 was available for my phone I immediately tried to update it.

Why?

Simple… current OS sucks… There has been so much media crap around BBOS6 that I wanted to check first hand if I actually had to throw against the wall my phone or if I could keep it and save a couple of months more for a real phone with a snapdragon or some other 1GHz processor.

The problem is that, where I live… android based phones are just getting in the market (I’ve stated that I live in the republic of panama… which is part of Central America, also known as the 3rd world.) so back on those days I made a simple business decision…

Blackberry 9700 worth 300 dollars and data plan is about 10 bucks with unlimited bandwidth thru blackberry internet servers.

Android based phone (I was going after the nexus one) worth 650 in the US… so add like 50 to 70 bucks in shipping from gringoland to here… and because marketing shit… open data plan for this baby wasn’t open… after 1 Gb of usage it drops to 128 kbps for 15 dollars…

Six months later… my twitter account is full of blames to the sucker who wrote the blackberry OS… that piece of shit just freeze and lags as much as win98 while hocked on IRC receiving nukes.

Anyways… this is the 3rd version I try on my bold9700 and yes… every time I upgrade… I see some stability increase… but yet performance is not.
This last upgrade seems to be quite useful as long as you don’t play Texas hold them or open waze too much…. Apparently whatever is requesting resources from the proc in full will show you the “loading icon”.. a normal thing if you consider that blackberry hasn’t catch up with the market who is running 1GHz processors on the devices.

Another complain I have with it is the battery drain.

My battery last like 4 hours… I’ll have to make a real benchmark on this one but still 4 hours is bad enough to make me think into buying a desktop charger or some spare battery.

Everything else is improved… I no longer get to the point of frustration where I want to throw the danm thing against the wall and I don’t remove the battery for hard reset anymore… (Haven’t in 4 days) and that fact was enough to make me blog about it.

Baking a motherboard works.

I've been hearing about this method for quite long but never had to do it.

In theory, any processor or CPU will heat by been used... and cool off when is not: so the constant on/off of a computer can crack solderings and then faiures happens.

The victim

Also, a power source can simply just heat enough your devices, or better the electric field created by such high voltage can crack the tin.... anyways, sticking your motherboard in your oven at 200 Celsius degrees for 5 minutes is supposed to do the magic trick..

baking... I made 4 aluminum foil balls to keep the mobo leveled

I have no better explanation than this; but it works and now my desktop system is up and running.

Here is the method.

Remove the CMOS Battery. Every battery exposed to fire will explode... important.

Remove all cables and every piece of plastic that can be removed. In this case I didn't took off the fan mount and guess what.. it melted.

Preheat the oven.

Once the baking time is over.. let it cool by itself and do not touch it.

Shit happens

Couple of posts back I've mentioned about my desktop computer been broken... So I did the proper troubleshoot and prognosis said motherboard dead.

So I did whatever the average joe will do on such a case.. Buy a new mobo.
Problem with this kind of things is that 2 years old technology is not really available. I had 4 ddr2 dims on that mobo so I needed a 4 slot motherboard AM2/AM2+ socket...

long story short... I got one and guess what...
My proc is a Phenom 9850 X4 who runs on 125 watts... motherboard only support 95 watts CPU so i'm fucked.

Time to upgrade... I'll need to get an exchange and maybe spend 500 dollars in cpu, mobo and ram.

Blackberry OS 6 on the bolt 9700

Whoever follows me on twitter or just happens to know me will know that I've been bitching around the fact that I've got drawn to the blackberry path as well as everybody in this piece of shit country.

Somehow, phone companies have brainwashed population... so everybody here thinks that there is no other way of having data on a cellphone if it's not a blackberry.

Anyways... blackberry data plan were cheaper than open data plans so I went the cheap road and got a blot2 (9700) who came with blackberry OS 5 and SUCKS BIG TIME

Then, because a couple of events that happened on the office I decided to use the "encryption" feature of the cellphone to encrypt my data and stuff. I'm not really sure if the thing really encrypt; but it definitely sucks processor resources and made it worst.
A friend of mine told me about his bolt2 with blackberry OS56 and I did the upgrade.... here are my thoughts.

RIM has made a serious improvements (at least i feel it that way) with this UI. It is faster than the previous version and the new webkit based browser improves A LOT the sucky browsing experience.
Overall, the whole thing has been retouched so the user interface is snappy and quick. The whole design seems sharp and resemble android or an iphone UI and yes.. I liked that.

Apparently I won't be trowing my blackberry against the wall on march as I was thinking to do when replacing it with a motorola droid pro (or better the flip out that looks quirky)

The truth is that... it is a beta release for my phone as RIM has only released it officially for the new torch (9800) so I'm been nice not to point out the couple of bugs I've found. Apparently the improvement on speed is making me happy enough to let it be; but the truth is that RIM need to upgrade the hardware... ATM every mayor manufacturer of smartphones is designing their devices with the Qualcom Snapdragon and this new blackberry OS6 seems to be putting more stress over the crappy processor in terms of graphics (try to run texas holdem king2 or some other game and you'll get the phone freeze up).

For me, running blackberry OS 6 on the bolt 9700 only means a "delay" on the replacement... which means I earn a couple of months to save up for a new piece of hardware that worth it.
how to doit?
http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/11/04/blackberry-bold-9700-os-6-0-0-344-installation-guide/

UPDATE

Like any Microsoft product... this blackberry os6 is a piece of shit with a prettier UI.
I feel the phone snappier but I have to reboot it way more often than with bbos5. Now.. taking into consideration that I'm running a Betta I can't be so dramatic; but yes.. it still sucks.

I've installed version 6.0.0.424 on the bold 9700.
